  1. We had a lot of FOG about then. Most of my notes are talking about visibility. Time to hit the trees!!! We also had snow, but apparently it was of the heavy variety. But, it was snow. There is discussion of losing 4.5 pounds from the time I got up to when I got home. Must have been WORK. By the 20th, things were actually IMPROVING (in fact on the 21st, I have it noted as a day to remember), as opposed to shortly before that (must been then that you were here.) Later in the season there are multiple notes about it being the "best day" of my ski life and trying to decide if each one was better than the other "best" one. Check the forecasts for Feb-Mar going forward, our temps are supposed to start dropping.
  2. Well, last year the prediction was for slightly ABOVE average temps, whereas this year the prediction is below average temps. And I don't remember ANY rain here, it's colder if you go inland further. You went to the wrong place. Tell me what dates you went and I'll check my extensive documentation here and tell you what was happening.
  3. He's like 6 hours south of me. Montana is a big place.
  4. Great video about my town: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiwgBxlpC9o
  5. Site now as finished as it can be until the season starts. Now what am I going to do with my time until then....
  6. I was trying to check what their season pass rates were and the website I found is like a YEAR out of date. I don't know if it's the official resort site or not, but you'd think no matter how broke they were it'd be up to date. Anyway, I was wondering what their season pass rates were and they are tremendously low, I'm surprised they don't do well with the less affluent set or beginners, enough to stay open at least. I've never been there so don't know how bad the mountain is. All I know is that a LOT of Western Region ski races are held there.
  7. The house is "under contract".
  8. Actually, I don't like the Outbacks after 2009. My husband just bought a 2009 manual because we're sort of afraid of manuals ceasing to exist. I don't really have the money to buy a "new" car, but I know that my Audi won't live as long as I will.
  9. Would I have to fly to PA?
  10. And yet I don't see that squaring, for my area, with "below normal temps" and "above normal precip" from NOAA: http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/multi_season/13_seasonal_outlooks/color/churchill.php
  11. Our heat is OFF until my rage at being cold overcomes my husband's penny pinching. I think we're around 62-65 in the house by the end of the day. Colder in the AM since our nights are in the 30's now.
  12. I went to realor.com (http://www.realtor.c...66_M43834-90294) and went to the map and asked for nearby listings. If you back up the zoom it looks like the whole neighborhood is for sale.
  13. I got a vest from EpicSki and they are SAYING they will pay for the domain hosting. Don't have that check yet. As to the resort paying me? That MIGHT be nice...if they like it... But, they may be pissed I've used their maps without permission and they may also not like I am showing stuff not on the map and some stuff even "Out of bounds". Plus, all I need is the locals to know who is telling people about some of this stuff!!! Thanks for the vote of confidence, tho.
  14. So, a place to crash for that amount of money that close to a ski area? Such a deal!
  15. Well, the place itself looks acceptable and if you're using it as a ski home, you don't care about the schools. Didn't check to see how far this was from various ski area.
  16. For more stoke, check out the site I'm putting together about Whitefish. I started it as something for EpickSki, but it grew (still under construction, expect broken links) like crazy and I set up a new domain for it. http://www.wmr-guide.com
  17. http://www.poconohomesite.com/Listing/ViewListingPhotos.aspx?ListingID=1101267226&ShowCompact=false&Preview=false&new=false&LastTabIndex=-1&BackEmailID=-1&BackEmailTypeID=NONE Some church received this as a donation and they just want to unload it QUICK for the money.

  19. So, what's your dream? Are you living at home rent free these days or something and that's the "afford to" part?
  20. Hmmm..better start stacking more logs...
  21. Well, it wasn't that cold here last year. And even though we had a lot of snow arriving early and staying late, it was heavier than usual because it was warmer than usual. It was an ODD year. Even this summer there hasn't been a night warmer than the low 60's. It's like we're still waiting for summer. Tonight will be in the 40's.
  22. I seem to remember one season at Camelback getting 94 inches of natural snow. I don't know what normal is.
  23. Well, I hope it's right, but how accurate has this guy been? Also, if you read the link, it doesn't sound COLD and here we need COLD to kill off the spruce bud worm that is DESTROYING our trees!! Two years in a row and if a third summer is like this, my house will be surrounded by dead trees.
  24. Well, when it was first mentioned in Epic, I thought it was in Co. I was surprised when I saw it was Moonlight today, but it's posted in that thread. I guess I should have titled it, "So, you want to live out West.." Reading the initial topic, it was clear the job was in Montana.
