  1. I'm not ready to shred gnar. Still remembering how to turn. Maybe next week.
  2. Hey, Ole2planker, long time no hear from. Already had posted that video and another one in the Jackson thread. Today
  3. Average number of skiers at Big Sky on any given day is said to be 2000. I can't find published averages for us, but for last year here if I divide the visits by the days open, it was about the same. We have a much much higher number of locals and they have a much higher % of out of state traffic, so it balances out.
  4. I always use the stats for Camelback (10-12,000 on 125 acres) compared to a "record" day here of 7,000 on 3000 acres. The "record day" would mean a foot or more of fresh on a major holiday, so we rarely hit that. So, "all time record" was set back in 1994 and still stands.
  5. At Camelback?
  6. Sunwise? Popular magazine-wise? Huh?
  7. From their site: WE WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE SNOW AND SAVE WHAT'S BEEN MADE FOR A FANTASTIC OPENING WEEKEND THIS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2010. I can't believe you are opening the same day we are! The power of snowmaking! We have to wait for Ullr.
  8. Who is Debbie?
  9. What was it counting down? "Winter" is ludicrous here. I've got six inches of snow on the ground, they just plowed my driveway, and temps, when they are "high" are in the single digits. "Opening day" depends on what ski area you go to. Seems kind of meaningless.

Shadows, remove the bookmark from your browser or something. Don't even READ the board. That will stop the temptation to post.
  11. A little more info on the data in the article. Tony Crocker post over on Epic Ski

    Whoa, you'd never know it.

Depending on when you buy here, college passes are: Note, there is nothing there about your age.

Middle-aged? PLULEEEZ. My mom is 91 and according to actuarial charts likely to live to 95. Divide that by two, put a decade on either side and you'd have to be in your late 30's. I don't think you're even remotely that old.
  15. Even aside from the tire issue, if those are "studs" then I'm Moses.
  16. It's a winter wonderland today. Glad I got my studs on the car last week.
  17. Whoa. We've got snow predictions like crazy here, but nothing that high. Of course, the actual results of what we GET are usually below the predictions, so I'd halve their total. We were supposed to get 4 to 8 at the house (point forecast) on Tuesday, but I think it was more like two. Then the next day we were supposed to get the same, I think we got 4. The mountain at least is claiming a nice base, 30 inches at the summit, 15 inches on the back side base, 99% due to real snow, not snowmaking, because we don't have much snow making here. Considering they won't open for another three weeks and we're supposed to get (up there) 27 inches between now and the end of Saturday, we're looking pretty good. That's followed by single digit days, so it's not going to all melt off.

My family claims I have this. I have two seasons: ski season and migraine season. I am almost totally non-functional in July.
  19. They probably didn't pay SKI mag enough OR Elk had the surveys out to be filled out by people and they didn't.
  20. Actually, the areas are all in the northwest part of the country and exclude California, Colorado, and Utah. Which get a lot of snow.
  21. Normally, I use Tony Crocker's site for this, but here's another list.
  22. I guess free lodging makes the extra miles make sense. Enjoy. If you do come, I think it might be (depending on route and weather) about 4.5 hours from Sandpoint to Whitefish. The normal route might be sort of "fun" in a snow storm. I'd skip it if it's snowing out.
  23. Oops, just thought of a third Epic guy, from Idaho. Spent so much time with him I forgot I met him on Epic.
  24. Well, at this time of year she's horseback riding and doing shows. I think she was still a ski patroller somewhere last winter.
  25. I've guided/skied with two Epic members and one PASR member so far. Can't remember their states. And had a visit from skimom, but that was in summer.
