No. Basically, you want to open up the pores with heat and use the clean wax to grab the dirt and pull it out. You scrape when it's warm so that the pores are still open.

Well, he's got this one year old daughter and a bad ankle. Time to rest and pay attention to her and his health.

Wow, they must really be hurting. I guess this is an effort to at least rake in food and beverage sales, but it would drive me crazy to be a passholder and all these foreigners get to come in and ski for "free".

Definitely demo. If nothing else, it saves you lugging your useless skinny skis out there. Last time I went to Aspen, I demoed a different pair every day.

From the descriptions, I can't tell if the lodging is at the top or the bottom of the hill, only that possibly there is a bar and from that you ski down to a lodge....I think. You need to ask type of lodging, where the lodging is in relation to the slope, where the bar is in relation to the slope, etc. I think almost all PA ski areas have night skiing and boarding, so that doesn't really narrow things down. It might help to ask if it was a big area or small area, but lots of newbies have nothing to base that on, they stick to one area and have no memory of the overall size. I'm thinking, though, that there are (or used to be) some honeymoon hotel type places that have a "ski area" of sorts that are part of the hotel grounds, which we might be totally overlooking.

Sugarloaf pass revoked for post on message board
sibhusky replied to RootDKJ's topic in General Chat
Reading down the AZ topic to the company spokesman (this post) it seems like there more be more history and information surrounding the resort/poster interaction AND the suspension is temporary. -
So, the sale is over by now and of course my wax is running low. Are the discounts working again? I'd go look on Epic, but they're down with a database move.

There's a ton of those guys here, laying trenches for the unwary.

I guess not bad, especially for protection against the aggressive ice in the Poconos. But, I've got to put in a plug for Dr. D again, www.racewax.com. Way more economical than SWIX for one thing, AND I've always found it easy to use. I just use either the red or green hydrocarbon, and sometimes (spring only) the universal hydrocarbon. I'll never go back to other waxes. I've got some Toko red here that's just aging and every time I decide to use it instead of the racewax.com stuff I feel the results aren't as good.

What color and type of wax was this? I've accidentally used CH 4 a couple of times due to forgetting about the PRIOR time and the stuff is like ironing on plastic!!! Provides a great protective finish, but it's HELL to get off. I ended up re-warming it and scraping and repeated that a few times. The scraper was useless otherwise. Then I pretty much logged up my brass brush with the stuff after that because the scraping achieved so little. Like I said, provided great initial protection for the season, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Racewax green or red is all I use now. The green's good enough for almost every cold day if I need cold wax and comes off wax easier than that Swix CH4 stuff.

Sounds like he'll be fine, tho. http://othersports.virginmedia.com/minorsp...ws.php?id=25598

This happened yesterday, I am still trying to find the results. But, get a load of the "pro" course: http://www.skiwhitefish.com/events/whiteout_map_pro_09.pdf Last year (not sure if the course was the same or not) they had someone finish in one hour, 37 minutes. Basically, all the red trails are climbs, the blacks are downhill. And the trails they've picked to descend are on my list of "never in this lifetime".

Links to a couple of controllable panoramic shots on inversion days. These are shot using a remote controlled toy helicopter, equipped with a camera: http://www.gravityshots.com/index.cfm?fuse...360&id=5399 http://www.gravityshots.com/index.cfm?fuse...360&id=5398

When I lived in NJ, we flew out of Newark and never had more than one change of flight. Delta changes in SLC and NWair changes in Minneapolis. I hope to be back in "ski with" form next season, but I don't see me being much fun in the upcoming weeks. I was looking longingly today at Upper Hollywood under the lift, but I know I don't have the strength yet for that. We had Pocono-like conditions today on the front side, as I said to someone, "well, you can get an edge in, that's all you ask for back East." Backside was wonderful as always.

As already suggested, leave your East Coast skis home. Then, demo each day and try different skis until you fall in love. Powder does take some work at first. One important thing, don't put all your weight on one ski as you turn, it'll sink. Try to keep your weight roughly even and even think of your skis (plural) as a joined board, not as independent entities. In spite of the fact that you'll feel nervous on the powder, you do need to keep up your speed and you should go a bit steeper than you might think as well. Those thoughts never did me a BIT of good however, prior to moving here and getting the right skis on. I used to visit my brother in Colorado a lot and he'd always tell me these things, but since I had skis designed to hold on boiler plate back East, they were pretty horrendous out West. That being said, resorts do tend to make sure the greens are groomed out for visitors. Start out on those and increase as needed. Speed IS your friend, and will be needed on the flatter slopes especially. I bought new skis within weeks after moving here. My Vipers just couldn't handle it...they'd call runs "groomed" from being groomed the night before, but if it's dumping all day, "groomed" becomes meaningless with the wrong skis. I can't emphasize enough that you need the right skis if you are getting dumped on, no matter what the hassle in renting. That is why I say, leave the skis home. That way you'll have to rent no matter if you get powder or not. Don't accept anything less than 90mm under foot.

...well, I haven't gotten a friend request yet, so he must be having problems.

You must be making a hell of a salary at that tombstone place.... You're right, $360 isn't bad. For six days here, spread any way you like, it would come to $336, not much of a difference. But I bet the food and hotels are cheaper. The daughter is 21. And, I am afraid, is very unforgiving of certain personality types. Good luck finding me on Facebook.

To all, a full day ticket here is a mere $61. No waiting in line midweek. Sure, no one's heard of it, but with 3000 acres of mostly treed skiing and some areas you can kill yourself as quickly as you like, why pay more?

I think you should extend your trip. Spend tomorrow looking for a job and an apartment.

It's just a little blood, not bad. I've had worse hitting a tree.
