I am thrilled we didn't make it. It's bad enough the "travel writers guild" or whatever came here last year. I expect lots of articles.
-
Siblet's already telling us she wants these items for HER to use. I told her it's a good thing BF works in a sporting goods store so he can get them for her 1/2 off.

Actually, Mr. Husky bought himself a boat Friday, so that's what we did this weekend. There was snow on the peaks, but today the sun came out and it was hard to see any snow left on Big Mountain. There was just the faintest haze when we started today and it disappeared by the time we got back. I can see snow from the house over on Great Northern and from the boat we could see plenty down on the Mission Range, but it melted away by noon on Friday off of Big Mountain for the most part. Don't have a picture from that day, we were with the salesman for a demo ride. First Trip on the Boat

got a husband whose hobby is cooking and a daughter who spent the last summer cooking up at the mountain. But, do you vaccuum, dust, and do laundry?

The heck with Big Sky, it's snowing on my deck tonight. If there is any accumulation, I will take a picture. Current forecast: Thursday: Mixed rain and snow showers. Probability of measurable precipitation 70 percent. South wind 8 mph. High 40. Thursday Night: Snow showers. Snow accumulation 1 inch. Probability of measurable precipitation 60 percent. North wind 12 mph. Low 31. Friday: Mixed rain and snow showers. Probability of measurable precipitation 60 percent. Northeast wind 9 mph. High 42. Friday Night: Snow showers. Snow accumulation 2 inches. Probability of measurable precipitation 70 percent. Northeast wind 12 mph. Low 28.

Probably will go to this place and I understand that Siblet and her beau want us all to go up to Fernie over her Christmas break.

To the park itself? Is he going to be one of those crazy guys who is shut up in a log cabin miles from ANY roads all winter? The place is pretty much just open June through September and sometimes not even that much. It didn't open until like the third week of June this year (the pass anyway) and when the snows hit in a few weeks it'll shut down again. They don't need a whole lot of help when the place is all closed except for the elk.

The last time I was there was a few times in 1975, I believe. That is also where I attempted to teach my mom to ski. Total disaster.

Current Jersey girl will be a sophomore at Rutgers and former (Siblet) will be a sophomore at Montana State, along with her boyfriend, new Montana guy.

Mountain goat. Didn't see any big horn sheep this time. Last time they were drinking anti-freeze spills or some drink that looked like it in the parking lot. The goats are a standard feature at Logan Pass and do come right up on the trail with you. We also had great fun with a ground squirrel who initially lept into current Jersey girl's lap and yanked her sandwich out of her hand, then LICKED the eyelid of new Montana guy.

We went fishing today, didn't even see a fish, let alone catch one, but the scenery was still wonderful and the water so clear you didn't realize how deep and cold it was until you jumped in and started to wonder if you were going to DIE from the cold.

Hit F11 to get the best view of the pictures. Needless to say, none of the people are me, I'm taking the pictures. A current Jersey girl, a former Jersey girl, and a new Montana guy are the threesome. They were having fun in a stream right before their pictures in case you are wondering.... Well, the guy we knew at the Village was Richard G., so it's gotta be the same guy. He owned multiple units there. I'll have to look up the Carlson kid. I don't recognize either of the Carlson kids' names. Their USSA number says to me they started a lot more recently than Siblet.
-
We're talking DICK Ford? I just thought it was a coincidence myself and haven't really been following this whole thing. Grasping for who Carlson is, but the name sounds vaguely familiar. Dick was a fellow Village homeowner and always seemed like a basically good guy to me. His wife was nice as well. He had a large family full of regular skiers at CB. Sounds like a good thing to me.

Yes, I am not gonna limit my skiing days for any reason even if such a thing were offered. You can break even pretty fast at this mountain. http://www.bigmtn.com/index.php?a=store/ma...act=st&id=1

I ordered my pass for my mountain in April and picked it up in June since it's good for the lift this summer. The price went up $50 this year to $479, though, which was a bummer. The day ticket went from $49 to $52 for those few who pay full price. The current season pass for latecomers is $730 and will continue rising as winter approaches.

Here's some slideshows, previously posted, of hikes up there. Haven't taken one this year yet, the Pass didn't open until June 23 or so. http://www.siberianrescue.com/other/Siyeh_Pass/ http://www.siberianrescue.com/other/Highline%20Hike/

Of course. Logan Pass and St. Mary's Lake, Wild Goose Island.

I guess all the moose in NE Pa are a different breed than those here......

Ah, the wonders of plain old point and shoot:

Ski is a professional photographer. I think YOU need to ask HIM.

Epic has huge convention type things with instruction.

Maybe you shouldn't be posting when you're drunk. Whole threads lose their points when people start editing. Maybe first you say something inflammatory, papasteeze replies, ski999 joins in...then you change what you said, making papasteeze look like an idiot for carrying on, and maybe ski999 would have stayed out of it completely except for papasteeze having joined in and we get our typical Twilight Zone free-for-all. You can't "unsay" what you say on the phone or in a letter or an email, why should this type of conversation be any different? People should be stuck taking responsibility for their remarks.

Top 30 DH points this year would be something in the low 40's. Top 75 GS would give you 27 points. That is probably where the points came from. Of course, would that have been the same 15 years ago? Who knows? I went back to the 2004-2005 Fall points rankings and the points for number 75 were 38, so obviously that can vary markedly over time.
