  1. Not sib, tho. Sib doesn't fall.
  2. Here's a sequence from one run. This is slalom.
  3. Sib does the bumps.... These were taken the first weekend in March, in between race viewing.
  4. Well, you can make lots of huge arcing turns in fresh stuff, but I admit that the sensation is totally different. And once it's all chopped up into crud, it requires concentration. But, I actually chose to do some mogul runs yesterday because they are so much fun when the moguls are as soft as down comforters.
  5. I don't have a problem with fog -- I use a fog cloth. But the goggles came with these darn slits in them. Today, since it's FINALLY snowing like crazy here, I got some tape from the lady in the cafeteria and sealed up the stupid slits. It did NOT produce a fog problem, but mysteriously I still got a miniscule amount of snow in my goggles. Still a big improvement.
  6. I wear contacts under goggles. I can't stand the whole concept of someone operating on my eyeballs, so can't imagine having Lasik done. I have over-the-lens goggles I got once when I was ordered to take a break from my contacts and I liked them so much that even after that pair got all scratched up I replaced them with another pair. They rarely fog up and if it gets really bright I can fit my sunglasses under them. They have rose lenses, so they are fine for most lighting situations except maybe nighttime. I've used them at night, but clear would really be better then. The only issue I have is the "anti-fog" mechanism is a slit on the sides of the lens. This tends to allow snow inside the goggles if it is snowing out. I've thought about ways to handle that, but never gotten around to doing anything about it.
  7. In MT, a student may: 5. Participate in sports during the summer or during a season when the player is not a member of a regular high school team, providing monetary compensation is not received for services. and B. A student who becomes a professional in an MHSA-sponsored sport is considered a professional in that sport only and is ineligible for further high school athletic competition in that sport only until such time as returned to amateur status in that sport. Presumably if the sport isn't an MHSA sport it's even less of an issue.
  8. Went and looked up the stats. It seems my information wasn't quite right. He was fourth for our division, but not for the race. He wasn't even in the top 25 for the overall race. Anyway, his points are not below 100 in anything last I checked. Not sure if sponsorship is an issue for HS here as skiing not a HS sport in this state.
  9. Miller king of the world Sorry for the gobbledygook in the subject line .. tendonitis and no way to edit that line
  10. Well, siblet's boy toy is sponsored by Rossignol and just reached the lower 100's. He got picked up because he finished in the top 10 at JO's last year.

    Weekend

Actually, I found that going down the trail that runs along it to the left brought you to a good spot to hike thru the trees. I think it was about 2/3 of the way down. The lodge was always nuts, but it didn't really impact the lifts over by the other section of the hill.
  12. But guests will still get an error message trying to use that link.
  13. But was the issue that the site was down or was it that they are not logged in?

    Hey, 'Dude

The link there does not show the pacesetter using his slowest time. It shows him using a median time or average time that day. Presumably the few hundredths difference was not enough to be an issue like the one you are presenting here. Anyway, like I said, you are certainly free to take up all those other resort's issues with NASTAR. But coming here to bash skidude about this is wrong. He had a question about the way things were supposed to be done. It got answered and they changed your resort's medal showings. If skidude can achieve that with a simple question, then you certainly can as well if you think something has been done wrong at those other resorts. The people who only "did it for fun" at your resort all went home with medals they can wear around and may not even check the website to know anything happened. No one is knocking on their doors taking away the souvenir. The people who are more serious will be disappointed but will continue to race and probably would prefer that there was an attempt at integrity being made. I'm not interested in the goings on at resorts where I didn't race, myself. There is unfairness everywhere in the world. Either get used to it or fix it, but there is no point in ranting about it here. I think you have made WAY TOO MUCH of a deal over this whole thing.

    Hey, 'Dude

I am not sure what your problem is, ski999. As I said: Obviously, they decided something wasn't kosher. You are free to argue with them. Maybe they'll change their minds again. (Assuming, of course, that your arguments are based on FACTS and not this emotional ranting that you are doing here.) But I doubt your 4 year old knows one way or the other -- unless, of course, YOU decided to tell her about it, which would be pretty stupid for a dad to do. I am pretty sure that, recreational or not, that everyone wants the program to mean SOMETHING and not just be "feel good" stuff. Wasn't it you yourself that said you don't believe in giving out prizes to everyone? NASTAR has adjusted things to be what they believe is more accurate. I suggest you prove to THEM that what they have done is not more accurate instead of carrying on about hurt feelings. And if a resort doesn't believe in enough in the integrity of the NASTAR program to see that it is carried out, then they should go off and do what they feel like doing on their own. And, just so you don't miss what I said again:

    Hey, 'Dude

I agree with skimom that they should monitor and warn. If a pacesetter continually has a slow run, then speeds up really noticeably subsequently every single day, then the resort should be advised that the course needs to be repaced at regular intervals and a new race set up after the repacing. If the resort decides to ignore the warning, then NASTAR should either remove their NASTAR designation or fix things forcibly. I agree that repacing after everyone has run, been told they have a given HC and medal, etc., is NOT the way to do things. On the other hand, when I finally beat skimom, I want to do it fair and square. (Unfortunately, my mountain has cut back NASTAR so much that it's just about never open when I am there. Doesn't look like I will even get a state ranking this year.)

    Hey, 'Dude

The link seemed to be to a rational discussion. It did not mention a particular resort until YOU told them. It sounds like if they didn't set up a "new race" then it's against the original pace time.
  19. Skimom either just became another Bode Miller or there's something wrong with the timing at CB. It says she did the course today in 14 seconds!
  20. Skimom and I would prefer to look at beefcake.
  21. Actually if it's just for five minutes, ANY lock is better than no lock. You want them to target someone else's skis. I remember using a chain and padlock to secure my skis some 25 years ago. But, my friend didn't bring a lock. So, we attempted to secure both skis with the same chain and padlock. She had the hottest skis on the market at the time, first day using them. They were cut out of the chain and gone by the time we got out of the bar. So, rule number two is, don't get the hottest skis and if you have them get them scratched up pretty quick. And rule number three is, don't chain up your friend's skis, as when theirs get stolen and yours sit there, it is all your fault.
  22. I'd go to Elk due to its relative inaccessibility. That being said, I don't know how well they handle crowds as I have never seen any there. CB at least keeps things moving. But, CB only closes ticket sales when cars are backed clear out to 80. It's a good weekend to STAY HOME or....COME HERE!

    Jf race

All I heard was it was a "lightweight race helmet". But remember, they were on the chair watching and not part of the event itself..
