  1. Um..yes it does matter. You can't build or fix features when it is that warm out and raining unless they closed off the trail. Then everyone on here would be bitching about that. The park crew was out working on lips, salting stuff, filling landings, etc... 10 minutes after they fixed something it was beat up again. Same thing happened at Boulder when it got warm there so don't think it is just Bears park crew not knowing what they are doing.
  2. Jump line Hip Barrel bonk Hubba ledge setup as an up gap Up rails
  3. How quickly people forget that it was 50 and raining most of last week.
  4. Posting from my phone in the bar...conditions are good, park is in good shape, jump at the bottom is small but a lot of fun. Head on up if you are thinking about it.
  5. I said the double c because it is going to be one of other sick features bear doesn't have ouyt yet. And I've already seen tons of different tricks on the ledge, maybe it isn't trickable for you? But I've seen and done all sorts of spin on, spin off tricks frontside, backside whatever and thats just with its current setup. It has potential to be setup in so many different ways its only going to get better from here. People need to spend less time bitching a more time riding.
  6. Try scotch guarding them and washing them every now and then with powdered soap. I've rocked white pants for 2 years and they look fine.
  7. They are tops in customer satisfaction and product reliablity. This isn't my opinion either, this is fact based on tons of data gathered over the years. I do agree on the Burton gear being expensive, but they have to fund their R&D which is a huge amount of money.
  8. Last winter Bear Mt. had both step down and a step up boxes and rails. Um...what? The double C and hubba ledge are going to be some of the most trickable features in the park.

    Bindings

Lots of issues with broken straps and buckels. Junk might have been a bit harsh of a description, but at that price point I would look at other brands first.
  10. Nice, next week should be a good time.
  11. For all the people knocking Burton's reliabity from either personal experience or word of mouth they really don't see the whole picture. I have databases full of data here at work that puts Burton at or near the top in customer satisfaction and product reliability. Does that mean their products don't break? Not at all, but all companies products do. You tend to hear about issues with Burton more because of the size of their client base. Which when you stop and think that they have the largest client base as well as one of the best reliability records in the business that really says something about them. Another thing to remember is a lot of snowboarders just don't like Burton because they are the big dog in the business. So they talk a lot of smack when in reality they have no or very little experience with the brand. This goes way back with people hating just to hate. I do have to laugh at the one poster above who said that Burton bindings are junk and that they switched to K2s. K2 has a record of making some of the worst bindings (reliability wise) in the business. It is one thing to not like a board and its another for a board to be junk. I ride and test between 40-60 different models ever year, its is very easy to tell a good board from a bad one. Its is very hard to tell the difference between two good boards other then your personal prefence. For instance I dislike how the Agent rides and feels and have stapped the tail on more then one...does that make it junk...no, it is still a very good board. Thats really my point, it all comes down to personal preference, and for me after riding just about everthing out there, the gear that I own is almost all Burton.

    Bindings

If you go with Ride bindings don't go any lower then the RX in the model line up. The LX and EX are junk.
  13. Yeah thats the deal with all boots. For me, I can't ride Burton boots. No matter the model they are uncomfortable to me. I do however love my 32s.
  14. Word. The first day it was set up it wasn't very good because it was kicked to the right and 90% of the time you couldn't slide the whole thing. Since then it has been a lot better and right now is the best feature they have.
  15. Why wouldn't they build the step down or step up if you turn it around? They had a step down setup last year and had to use two boxes for it and it was awesome. So why not make it 1 box and use the other 2 for something else. Its a sick feature the way it is setup now. And it is plenty wide to be a step up.
  16. Rome Artifacts and K2 Darkstars in the past have know issues for core and base cracks right around the binding insert area. I RTV'd many of them with all different bindings so I'm not surpised to hear another case of that and it is completely independent of what type of binding is mounted to the board. As far as Dominants go, there was one model of that board that had issues with cracking on both the nose and the tail because Burton tweaked the tech on the core of the board and it actually made it weaker instead of stronger. Another perfect example of this is the new K2 WWW. When my company was testing this board last year there were lots of issues with the new Hybritaper nose and tail tech that was causing cracks, delams and wrecking the board. K2 supposedly fixed the issues, but we'll see. And just in my experience the type of binding isn't going to have much, if any, effect on a board cracking. Especially with the Cartels, there is nothing special or different about them that would cause a board ot crack. Maybe if we were talking about C60s or some other super strong based binding it might have a small effect. The biggest issue in recent years with boards breaking is people moving to ride smaller boards and companies trying to keep board prices and weights low on their park boards. Lots of boards that I've sent back are from people riding at the very top or over the weight limits of the boards just so they can ride something smaller. And companies are creating these park only boards with flex patterns that really are only going to last for 2-3 seasons of normal riding before they give out. So if you get people who ride them hard and do nothing but lap the park they are going to wear out even quicker. And trust me, your friend doesn't do anything riding wise that the people I work with don't do. We employee over 20 pro and am riders all over the country.
  17. Bear has plenty of flat boxes, they don't need two more. Again...have you even hit the step down box yet?
  18. Maybe they just rode shitty ass boards? I've ridden Cartels since before they were available to the public and haven't had a single issue and I have had them mounted onto 6 or 7 different boards. And thats with putting 70+ days a season on them. Having worked in the industry for over 11 years Burton has been by far the most reliable company I've dealt with. Plus they are the best if you ever do have an issue with a product.
  19. There isn't much you can do when the conditions are like this. Park crew was out last night and two minutes after they worked on a feature it would be beat up again. You gotta be patient when the weather is like this.
  20. Have you even ridden it yet? That box is sick, cutting in half would be retarded. It is still kicked a tiny bit to the right last night but it was better then this weekend. Very easy to get the whole thing now if you hit the top part a little to the left. And BC has had the 420 box set up really low before, its alright that way. I like it better when it is set up as a harder feature with a step up style gap on it. THey had it like that for a while 2 years ago and it was awesome.
  21. Conditions last night were ok, a bit icy and some tough landings out of some rails. But overall still a very good time. The hubba ledge was closed. The stair case on cascade was a lot of fun, big ollie needed to get up on it if you went for the ledge. Forecast looks good for them to blow and get some natural snow which will help because its getting pretty thin in some spots. Big shout out to the bartenders last night for hooking me and my buddies up with a really good time.
  22. YEah thats what I figured. Probably head on up anyway.
  23. Thinking about trekking up this evening but from the web cam things look a bit beat up. Any ride yesterday and know what the conditions are like? I haven't been there since monday.
  24. They have their 420 box.
  25. Have you even ridden it yet?
