  2. This is a truly great post. Thanks man!
  3. I just looked at BC's website and it said "tentative 03/22". Hmmmmm?
  4. We would be in for a BC Gaper Day on Sunday the 22nd!
  5. WHY IS MY THREAD NAME CHANGED??? We can not be there on the 14th due to St. Patty's plans. We will however be there on the 21st... the true Gaper Day. Haha. Wait... I just noticed that the poll is gone too!!! Shenanigans!! I want this fixed ASAP damn it.
  6. Gaper Day 2009- Saturday, March 21st!
  7. We can't do Sundays. Damn it!!
  8. So... as some of you know we've been discussing the official Blue Gaper Day date in the Members's Only forum. So far we are thinking the 21st. We also have a vote for the 14th. What do all you "non members" think?
  9. I thought Joetsu was in Shiozawa??!!
  10. Day One Evening Bob broke a pole so after swimming and lounging we headed out for some shopping. Dinner ended up being at the hotel restaurant Ovations then early to bed. Day Two Day two started around 4 AM when Bob puked up his nice Ovations Restaurant dinner. For that reason we really didn't push it today. We didn't get on the snow until 11 AM. There was hardly anyone on the mountain and the conditions were amazing. The light dusting we got combined with the bright sunshine and rising temps made for smooth, somewhat wet, fast snow. Since Bob was still feeling a bit green we stayed mostly on Killington Peak, Snowdon and Ramshead's blues and greens. We had a light, late lunch at Ramshead and then lapped the blue under the Ramshead quad. Around 1:30 PM we worked our way over to Snowshed and then ran laps on green under the Snowshed quad which was perfect... I think Bob said some of the remaining cord was like skiing on glass. We ended our day around 2 PM and headed back to the room for resting. Later we might order in or go somewhere with awesome chicken noodle soup and ginger ale. I have a date even later with the nice bottle of champagne cooling in the snow on our balcony. We had originally planned to hit up a club or two tonight but poor Bob would most likely pass out and quite frankly I need him to drive my drunk ass home so that won't work. Later.
  11. Wait... I'm pretty sure I saw some skills on the 1st PASR day at JF. I'm pretty sure you looked like you knew what you were doing. If you want to see a straight up lack of skills stay tuned for our Killington pics.
  12. Tuesday Night Dinner at The Garlic was awesome. Tapas rules and theirs was no exception. We had some drinks too which were delicious. Oh and the chipotle ribs were to die for. After dinner we hit up the pool and hot tubs. Here at the Grand the pool is kept at 96 degrees and the hot tubs are at 108 which is perfect. Also they face the slopes so we got to watch the groomers do their thing while we soaked. So nice. Bedtime was 10:30 or so on an awful, hardass bed. Oh well... you can't have everything. Wednesday What a BEAUTIFUL day! It was chilly but not freezin and totally clear and sunny. Hello goggle tan! We started at 9 at Snowshed and basically made our way over to almost Bear then backtracked to Ramshead and finished up back at Snowshed. We did a ton of runs on the Great Eastern and also on the Great Northern and almost every blue and green in between. Snow was perfect corduroy and packed powder across the whole mountain. Alot was groomed and the stuff that wasn't was nice cushy piles. Sooooooo good. We did a quick lunch at the K1 base lodge cause the top was closed and $30.00 later... ugh. We finished about 2:00. Gotta save some legs for tomorrow. Anyway it looks like we're in for a snowy day. They are calling for a dusting to an inch of snow tonight into tomorrow so we're heading out to the pool now to soak up some of the sun. How lucky are we?
  13. Well we're here. The drive took 7 hours with a short lunch break and one pee stop. The Killington Grand is just about as close as you can get to the mountain. Check in was a breeze, the room is small, clean and nice and the pool looks nice and warm. We think we're having some tapas for dinner at The Garlic then turning in so we can hit the snow at 9. Later.
  14. We'll be in Killington from the 24th to the 27th.
  15. I actually qualify for one of those and Bob keeps begging me to get it but I simply refuse.
  16. Damn Mbike... you and the wife made some beautiful kids. Looks like you guys had a great time. Thanks for the post... it's making me so excited for our VT trip next week!
  17. I was referring to amusement parks and their pass holder situation. I think someone had mentioned parks in an earlier post. Sorry I wasn't clear.
  18. Looks beautiful. Sadly I had to work this morning. At least there was no traffic. Not that the joy of a short commute can compare to a great day on the snow. Oh well. Here's to this weekend.
  19. Where do you live Moe? There's a shops or two around me that do a good job and right now can do skis in a day. Hot wax and sharpen. I know cause I just called for our skis so we're ready for K-Mart.
  20. I haven't been feeling hence the delay but here's my TR finally... Got there at 8:00 AM and found a surprisingly empty lot. Booted up and were on like the 10th chair. We were really excited for some fast, spring like, groomed runs but sadly it was not to be. I know BC has to blow whenever they can but damn the new stuff was sticky icky. Also, I don't know lots about grooming but it seemed to me that they should have groomed the new snow into the old stuff. Honestly when you would hit the snow they had just blown it was like pulling the e-brake. It totally pitched you forward so that you pretty much had to fight to keep from falling. The new snow really blended in with the existing snow too so you couldn't really anticipate where it was and adjust. Speaking of the existing snow... it was awesome spring snow but sadly it was staggered with straight up Elmer's. Oh... before any of you make comments about my abilities we saw many people struggling and falling including an instructor so take that. Haha. Anyway, we hit all of the trails except the park and Timberline which was closed for the race team multiple times. The blacks were the only decent trails but in a weird, sweet n' low sort of way. Also as Bob said there were a bunch of slow skiing signs at the bottoms which I thought was weird. I (like everyone else in this thread) hadn't seen them before this weekend and I they were out just for the Holiday weekend but who knows. As the morning went on the snow did start to feel better. I think this is because of the mixing up, melting, etc or maybe it was because we started to learn where the crappy spots were and how to avoid them. Either way we did our runs and bailed like 10:45 AM. The crowds stayed light for the whole morning which is what kept me from calling the whole day a wash. Overall an OK V-Day at BC. Ugh.
  21. I can't tell if they are blowing or not from the cams. We should be up at 8:00 tomorrow. See you all then.
  22. See... that's what I wasn't sure of. For some reason I though Gaper Day was April 1st. Maybe that was the year before. X3
  23. I thought Gaper Day was the 1st and that closing was the weekend after. I'll have to go back thru the posts and look. .............. Holy s#@%! From Doug... Mar 22 2008, 02:09 PM Hey All, I'm back from my last day at Blue until December
  24. Mar. 15th *Cardboard Box Derby Registration 9:00 am to 11:00 am - Summit Lodge. Race starts 1:00 pm. Visit www.skibluemt.com for rules and details. Mar. 22nd *Pond Skimming Contest - Sponsored by Shea's Hardware & Liquid Lightning Doesn't Blue usually have pond skimming on the last day? Does this mean Blue is planning to close March 22nd? I really hope not.
  25. Ah ha! I know when I bought my rack the clips for the dam weren't available but Bob fabricated some. I was soooo glad because there was a noticeable increase in my gas mileage after he put it on.
