  1. Today was a bust for us. Bob had help some friends with their plumbing. We found out last minute and it's kind of an emergency so he couldn't say no. Oh well.
  2. We won't be there till 9. Damn... I guess I better go to bed now.
  3. What what!! OK... I'm seriously excited. So lame.

  5. Whatever. Ohhhhh... I was going to go to Blue. Do I really have to drag my ass up to JF two weekends in a row? Ohhhhhh.
  6. Bob said the same thing. Oh well. As for the ring... I honestly forget it's on until I can't get my mittens on comfortably. I guess I'll have to try and remember from now on. BTW although I am the person who will throw bags off of the tables I would never take one. Why would you?
  7. I leave my purse with wallet, cell phone and my engagement ring in the car but I hide them, lock the car and alarm it. Boy would it suck to loose my rock.
  8. You guys are ridiculous.
  9. I love Raceway to Chute to Lower Main St. So fun!!!
  10. 01/17/09- I'll be at Blue 01/24/09- I'll be at JFBB for the 1st time ever for the official PASR day. Can't wait to meet all the people I never have.
  11. From easiest to hardest... 1. Raceway (on of my favs!) 2. Midway 3. Main St. (only harder than Midway because the snow is usually so sloppy/ choppy) 4. Chute (can be scary due to piles that form at the bottom) 5. Falls 6. Razors 7. Challenge I ski on an intermediate level too and am sometimes ascared on the steeper stuff as well as the really crowded trails. Despite my fears I still try the stuff at least once per trip because most of the time I find that I am afraid for no reason and that I could ski the trail with little to no trouble. Of course this really does depend on the conditions (someone else said this too) but overall most of the blacks and even a lot of the double blacks at Blue are totally manageable if you are an intermediate.
  12. Bob was wondering the same thing. Says it felt like racing motocross, hitting the whoops.
  13. Just woke up from our nap so here goes my TR... Rolled in at 8:15 AM or so. The drive up took longer than usual due to stupid drivers, somewhat sketchy weather and some weird train accident thing in Macungie. Anyway got our tix (no lines), booted up and were on the snow at about 8:30 AM. 1st run was going to be Paradise to Dreamweaver but when we got to the top Paradise was closed as was Challenge (race team). Boo! Since it's only day two for me and Razors looked... well anyway we backtracked and hit Lazy. It was somewhat mushy on top of a sheet of ice. Not bad to ski but it had the potential to be a mess later. Since the quad wasn't running yet we figured we'd do an "other side" run or two but on the way up we saw the groomer leaving so we tried again for Dreamweaver and were good. I have to say that I was wasn't that impressed. Snow wasn't bad but the trail isn't anything special. We went back up and did Paradise from top to bottom for good measure and were pleased to find excellent grooming on the lower half. Unfortunately it was a weird snow and both of us agreed that if would be quite pushed off/ around soon. We headed over to the other side and did a Switchback run. Switchback was full of sugary snow, mushy snow and almost icy patches. Did they groom over there? It was like the bottom of Main St. kinda! We went to do Burma so that I can practice my polling (a goal of mine this season is to be a better poller) but it was closed for grooming??!! Why would Blue not have that trail done 1st thing? There were newbies scooting down Chute on their asses! It just seems odd to me that both Green trails were closed 1st thing in the morning. Why would Blue do that? Whatever. We skied some Main St. runs and eventually a Burma run, checked out the biker cross from the lift since nothing seemed to be happening yet then made our way back over to the six and quad. The snow on Main St. was very powdery and Bob ventured over into the bumps. He looked good doing them so I knew they were soft and when he came out he confirmed that. The conditions on Burma were great since it had just been groomed but there were too many damn newbies to weave around to ski it to our liking so I think we only did one run there. Once back at the quad we lapped Paradise and Dreamweaver and I practiced polling until 11:30 and then bailed. Like people said the line at the quad was nonexistent but the six was a damn mess right from the start. I think Doug needs to start saying not to tell anyone about it instead of Switchback. Anyway overall it was a good day. Conditions weren't perfect and the commute was a bitch but being in gently falling snow, with your hubby, doing something you love can't be all bad. P.S We didn't see any PASRers. Boo!
  14. That was a perfect TR. Thanks for sharing. What else are you spending your money on? Do it now... while you're young, single and childless.
  15. We got a huge dump on our 2008 VT trip to Okemo and I really struggled with the powder. I can't say I liked it but I didn't hate it either. I've been told a million times that I should have rented fat skis and I'm sure that they would have helped but it was only two days and I just didn't want to be bothered. I would say to go out West, ski some powder and decide for yourself if you like it. A new experience at worst is at least that. If it helps I'm going to go in a year or so and see if those fat skis really would have helped or not.
  16. Great pics! Do you know if the lower part of Skyeship was open?
  17. We never go in the lodge except to use the bathrooms... I was just saying.
  18. It's beautiful actually... couches, stonework, fireplaces, etc.
  19. Gaper Day at Blue is one of my favorite days. I don't get much quality skiing done... too much drinking for that... but it's soooo fun.
  20. See... this weekend at Bear was really good and there was hardly any wait. I'm so glad we made it out.
  21. You can ski on it and I did so I don't care what you call it. Haha. I actually like little old Bear Creek. Don't be hating.
  22. Hey... I'm not that elusive. I'm a tall chick who skis like she's about to take flight. How can you miss that? Seriously... I am doing much better tucking in the wings. Even Bob says so. If you really are going to look... I wear a black and white jacket, black pants, a hat (no helmet) and have long, blonde, braided pigtails. I am about 6'2" on skis which are grey K2 True Luv's or something like that. Maybe next time out I'll spot you or better yet you'll spot me.
  23. Well today was our first day on the snow this season and.... it was a good... make that great one. BC had very good snow conditions all things considered and the crowds weren't a problem at all. Then again we were there at 7:45 AM. We pulled into the lot and got second row parking, bought our tickets at 8:00 AM and were on the lift at 8:31 AM. Thank god BC opens the ticket window a 1/2 an hour early... hear that Blue? Anyway, once on the snow we hit Kodiak a couple of times to warm up. Honestly it was the worst trail of the day if you had to pick one. This was because there was a good bit of newly blown snow midway down which made the trail oh so slow. Like an e-brake for skiers. Oh well... easy to avoid... and that trail is newbie heaven anyway. Since we really wanted some more speed we then moved over to Timberline which was groomed and fast. There were some small death cookies and a tiny bit of ice showing thru at the top but the rest was smooth and fun. The F chair lift was pretty dead so we did a bunch more Timberline runs as well as a ton of Sasquatch and Extreme runs. Both of Bear's baby blacks were nice. The death cookies were more like death crumbs and the snow was fast and smooth otherwise. Around 10 AM we made a quick pit stop and then headed back out for some more skiing off of the F chair. At 11 AM we called it quits and strolled out to our second row spot. Gotta love it. When we were leaving the lodge and rental areas seemed very busy and they were just starting to park in the upper, dirt lots. I really think we made a wise choice doing an early morning session since it looks like later today later today BC could be quite a mess what with the beautiful weather and good snow. Lucky us... I don't think we waited a minute or more in any lift line nor did we have to thread the needle once. Overall an excellent fist day. Thanks BC! Tommorow... Blue Mt.
  24. Not my term... theirs. To be applied loosely I think. Where have you been BTW??!
  25. Damn it has to hurt to send daytrippers away. We'll be up bright and early tomorrow.
