  1. SKI PATROL (working title)- This exciting, character-driven series from Bunim/Murray Productions (The Real World) gets viewers up close and personal with the men and women who work in some of the most extreme environments in the country. They do everything from dynamiting snowdrifts and performing daring out-of-bounds rescues to busting unruly snowboarders looking to party on the slopes.
  2. You mean that I might actually meet you? Amazing. Haha. Bob and I are trying to decide which day to go so maybe I'll see you.

Prepare for a grueling day. It's way more work than you should ever do on the snow.
  4. My rents live 3-5 minutes from BC and as of 2 or 3 PM the roads weren't great. That township barely plows or salts but most of the residents don't seem to care since almost everyone has 4WD/ AWD. I think another poster said they sometimes close the road BC is on to minimize accidents... this is very true unfortunately. My Mom who is working 2nd shift this week to cover vacations actually called me earlier to say that her drive down the mountain wasn't good and that she was wondering if she could maybe crash here tonight so there you go. I guess if you must go be careful and take your time. Oh, and look out for my Mommy... I need her and would prefer she not die on her birthday. P.S. Happy B-Day Mommy!

A lesson I just learned actually. Bob always said it would "click" one day and thankfully it just did. What a difference.
  6. Ugh... just what we needed... A-holes who want to be on TV coming in droves. Hahahaha!
  7. I'm totally in for some skiing hooky with you!!! Ok... I kinda can't cause we are hosting a big seminar Wednesday but I am off Friday. I was actually thinking about a BC night trip Friday night and a Blue trip Saturday.
  8. Grrrrr. Haha.
  9. Uh.... excuse me "season pass" but I do believe that you said in today's TR that this yesterday and today were some of the worst conditions of the season and that you didn't' stay long. I really do love skiing but I'm not driving an hour plus each way and spending $80.00 for 8 crappy runs.
  10. No way. We've still got the 16th, 23rd, 26th, 27th & 28th plus the five weekends in March and the two weekday trips we are planning. That's 16 days... OK... we might not make it. Ugh.
  11. Hey, hey, hey!!!! None of that here. We aren't coming either day as of now so that's that.
  12. We are bailing this weekend. Too much time in the car and cash for a few shitty runs. Oh well. The quote that sealed the deal. Damn it!!!!! I want to ski soooo bad. I though it was intermediate.
  13. FWB won't ski in the rain so it looks like it'll have to be Sunday. I am hoping not to see too much of the "I" word. I happen to like hard pack but ice is another story. Maybe we'll have to see what's up at BC again. Ugh.
  14. OK... I just looked at the weather and it seems like both days are kinda F'd but we want to get out this weekend so my question is which day do you all think will be better? Thanks.
  15. #1. I think BC's food is outsourced so they're not making that much there. #2. Snowflex would probably detract from the ambiance and hurt BC's summer wedding business. #3. I think someone already said it but Mark said Snowflex never got back to them.
  16. We might have to end our BC love affair and come up to Blue Saturday. It seems like that's the report everyday. Ugh. At least my edges are nice and sharp. Just picked up the skis a half hour ago.
  17. I was thinking the same thing.
  18. Let me start out with a big "DAMN IT"!!! OK... now that that's out of my system... when I skied BC Saturday my goggles had condensation in between the lenses the whole time. It was there from the moment I took them out of the bag and got worse as the day went on. I switched with Bob and loved his Smith Fuzes so much I got myself a pair last night but I want to know if my cheapie Oakleys are salvageable or if I should trash the damn things. Thanks in advance.
  19. After I was done ogling the snow I promptly switched to ogling the hot chick. Haha. You are so pretty Sib... and that snow... well, I'm jealous to say the least. Not that I would know what to do with it. Ugh.

  21. Whiteface, NY's Olympic mountain, is 50 By JOHN KEKIS, AP Sports Writer Mon Jan 28, 8:39 AM ET WILMINGTON, N.Y. - Jim Hoyt slid to a stop on the new-fallen snow and looked skyward at the icy face of his favorite place. "It's the love of my life," said the 70-year-old Hoyt, a member of the ski patrol at Whiteface Mountain Ski Center for longer than he cares to remember. "I've skied it mostly every day." It's been a half century since Gov. Averell Harriman came here on Jan. 25, 1958 to celebrate the opening of what would become New York's Olympic mountain. "When they opened it, that was the real deal," said 85-year-old Bob Wall, who used to write a ski column for the Syracuse Herald-Journal. "There weren't many places to ski and Whiteface was like a real mountain. It was like going out West. Everybody loved it. These other mountains were like pimples, with a vertical drop of 600 or 700 feet." Nearby Lake Placid had already hosted the 1932 Olympic Games that featured ice hockey, ski jumping, cross-country skiing, figure skating, speedskating and bobsled, along with three demonstration sports
  22. This is one of the reasons we've been doing BC instead. I guess because it's warmer down here there isn't ice. Really I don't think there was any ice or hard, hard, hard pack at BC. Oh Blue... please get your crap together... soon. Even with all of the trails open? From the race maybe?
  23. See Mark... I told you I'd get Bob back up there. I think I might even have him thinking about a season pass for next year.
  24. We couldn't get out of bed so we went to BC today instead. It worked out though cause #1 conditions were great and the crowds were minimal and #2 Bob had some work to do this afternoon. We'll definitely be at Blue this coming weekend though. I need longer runs.
  25. Bob and I just got back from a great morning session at BC so I figured I'd post up a TR. We bailed on Blue today cause we were tired, wanted to sleep in and also because Bob had some plans for this afternoon and BC takes less time to drive home from. Anyway, we got to the mountain around 8:15 and the place was pretty dead. We were only 8 or so rows back from the front which never happens. We hit the mountain right about 8:30 and rode the quad alone for the most of our warm up runs. The snow was really incredible and the crowds were so light that we ended up staying an hour or so later than we usually do. Overall we skied everything but the parks and the bunny hill. We even got a run on Timberline since we happed to be over there right before they put the rope up. All of the trails had really good, consistent coverage and a lot of the trails were wider than the last time we were up. Yay to BC for blowing and grooming so much. Bob said the "bumps" (notice the quotes... I put them there to let the reader know that I was using the term liberally) on Sasquatch were nice and soft and really fun. Also fun was Extreme and Grizzly so much so that we skied those the most. Since the snow was so smooth and fast I really got a chance to work on my speed this trip. I left today feeling a lot more comfortable with going fast and hope to try out my new balls at Blue next weekend. We ended up leaving around 11. The crowds had just started to pick up but honestly were still minimal. I really don't think we waited more than a minute or two for a chair (even down at the F chair). Overall a it was a really great day. Thanks BC!
