Crap I am logged on as my wife......

Preston and steve did this this last week at JFBB. The above video is the only thing I could find. Basically snow tubing with a cardboard, homemade sled. Maybe Bear Creek will have one too....Reserve your tickets now.... It looks fun but I would only participate if I could do a challenge run on one of these.

March 17th I think. Bob wants to enter but I can't deal with one more nerdy project.

Wha??? He doesn't have straight skis. Anyway... you'd better leave Blue in Doug's care. I would neglect it for sure. 1 visit per week does not a good caretaker make. BTW, take lots of pics in Utah. I'd say we'll miss you but my jealousy won't let me. Haha.

We just got back from a nice 7:30 to 11:15 session. It was a great day in the morning and a manky day later but it was a day on the snow so I can't really complain. The early morning runs were really the best since the snow hadn't softened yet. We did a couple of beautiful, fast runs on Lazy, Switchback and Paradise. No sugary piles were to be found and we were super happy. When Toast saw us on paradise Bob was working on skiing the whole trail backwards. You know... just because I'm kinda new and kinda suck does not mean that I still need that kind of teaching. Damn it! I was skiing behind Bob as his spotter. So there. BTW, you gotta love twin tips... well, unless you have to ski behind them. Anyway, I'm glad he wanted to screw around on Paradise... it had the best conditions of the day IMO. Around 10 we ventured over to Main St. to ski that side of the mountain and low and behold... there were the piles I had been missing (said with tongue firmly planted in cheek). Hundreds of mushy, ski grabbing, thigh burning, fall inducing piles. Ugh... I mean yay! I think I've said this before but Main St. really is a bipolar trail. The top was lovely and fast but the bottom was disgusting. Oh well, after that run we went back to the 6 pack and somehow ended up meeting up with Doug and Jeff . Together we skied some runs on Paradise, Lazy, Main St., Raceway to Chute and I think that's it. I got to watch the men ski the bumps and I am now completely sure that I will never learn to do bumps and don't really care. Also skied by the men alone was the lower park and pipe while I hit Falls and Challenge a few times while the bench and I made friends. Oh... while on the bench a 13 year old started a conversation with me that ended with him asking if I had a boyfriend. Hmmmmm. Anyway, by then it was around 11, the snow was apple pie filling on it's way to becoming apple sauce and the jeans were out in full force so we bailed. Overall we had a really nice morning and I am starting to feel sad that this season is coming to an end. Ski day number 26 (yes, I have only skied 26 times in my whole life) has come and gone and happily it was a good one. Hey, maybe I'll make it to 30 this season. P.S. What the hell is the deal with the line area at the 6 pack. Wow.

Wow... a cardboard box race... wow. Wonder how that will work. I might have to stay to watch that one.
-
Why would you care?
-
Cause that's where the hotel shuttle picked us up. A free ride is always a good thing. Besides... it was a nice place to do our warm up run.
-
I plead the 5th. OK... no more talk about closing. It hurts my ears/ eyes. Please??!!!
-
I think I should be allowed to use the ski school line. I don't have a good reason I just don't like to wait. Too bad I've never met Tretiak and therefore don't know what he looks like. If I had I could pull the "hey we're all friends here" move. Damn.

Hot. Since Bob won't ski that late in the season unless conditions are perfect we might be a go. Hahaha.
-
OK... when do we leave?
-
I'm fine with that. As long as the lift is listed as closed. I understand races kinda have to be held on the weekends. I don't think practices should be though and that's what I have a problem with. Practice on Wednesday nights damn it. BTW, am I ever going to meet the infamous Metz the Jersey boy?

Very cool BC! Way to show the love.

He thinks you guys are gay. No... seriously... SOME of the freeride team is inconsiderate but I think when you are on the mountain as much as those guys it starts to feel like home and you are a little less condiderate than you could be. Or you guys are gay. Either one. Hahaha.
-
See... I am good for more than dick and boob jokes. Anyway, if Razors was made for the race team and is going to be closed on the weekends than Blue should take it off the trail list/ map. When a mountain says they have 30 trails open I want to be able to ski all 30 trails. That's all.
-
It was good on Saturday too. I agree about the merge though. I was really flying and barely had time to glance up hill before merging.
-
They have a hard enough time getting snow on that trail let alone enough snow to make bumps.
-
OK, I'm going to be controversial... Why is that my problem? Not to stir the pot but but as a weekends and holidays only , non pass holder, who eats at the mountain I spend some serious dough too. I don't get any special privileges. As a matter of fact I get one or two closed trails every time I go even though I pay for 100% open. If you are going to close a trail pretty much every time the majority of your customers show up then take the trail off the map and dedicate it to the racers. At least then I won't feel like I'm paying for 100% and not getting it. OR have practice at an off peak time. There's a novel concept.
-
Hey, what happened to the moguls on Challenge? That was short lived.
-
Ouch!
-
I get kind of annoyed by the race team and the closed trails too. I think they should practice/ close trails on off times. (WARNING... bad analogy coming... you have been warned) You don't see bowling alleys having leagues on Friday and Saturday nights. They pretty much don't do it. Leagues play during the week so lanes are open on the weekends for customers who pay full price, buy beers and pretzels and play arcade games. Money, money, money, money. I can't see why Blue doesn't do the same thing. I would think that daytrippers are more lucrative customers for Blue than members of the race team. I guess they figure that they have you. Even with a trail or two closed they are the best game in town. OK, that might just be my opinion, but since this is my post I am stating it as fact.

My co-workers and I were talking about my K-Mart trip and I realized there were some weird things I noticed about Killington that I had not expected. Take them for what they are.... 1. There were no snowboarders. OK, I saw 3 in the parking lot one day but that was it. We even skied Bear for a while and there were none there. Hmmmm? 2. There were hardly any women. Everywhere we went (including the slopes) was a total test fest. I seriously only saw a handful of chicks the entire time and most of them were in the lodge. Come on women... represent. 3. The Brits totally out number the Americans. I'm OK with this one though cause they are way nicer than us. 4. There were no fireplaces in any of the lodges. We were in most of them and unless I just didn't go where they were there wasn't a fireplace to be found. 5. The food off the mountain was not that expensive. I was really surprised that they didn't gouge us at the handful of restaurants we went to. 6. The food on the mountain was horrible and overpriced. OK, I expected this one but paying $4.50 for a chip witch hurts me a lot so I put it on my list. 7. The "heated" gondolas heat vents never work. 8. The Snowshed crossover blows my Dad. Sorry, I had to put that one in. Why the hell would you make the trail that is supposed to get you to Snowshed quickly completely flat and in some places slightly uphill. Ugh. I hate polling. Well, that's it for now. Agree, disagree, ignore me, whatever.

Pressure will do that to a person.

BC has just as heavy if not heavier crowds at peak times but it is definitely less icy. I think your crew would really enjoy themselves at BC because the blue trails are quite a bit easier than the ones at Blue which means you would have more to choose from. The greens are about the same if not a tiny bit easier so that would be about the same. If you are going to ski on the weekends I would suggest that you get there as close to open as possible since the lift lines can get pretty bad. Hope you have a good time.
