Last ski day of the KMart trip and I won't lie... it was a tough one. We got snow all day and combined with the winds and the temps it was a battle for sure. We started today at 9:30 at Ramshead which was nice for warming up and skiing off yesterday's thigh burn and skied all of the greens and blues there. It was at Ramshead that I skied my first fresh powder. There was about 5 inches over day old cord and it felt so weird. Weird but fun. We then moved over to Snowdon and it was icy, icy, icy. I think because of the winds and the position of the trails. Whatever the reason it was tough for me and I fell on Chute. Go figure. Anyway from Snowdon we skied over to the K1 and had some lunch. Sorry... but I will not be posting what we ate. Afterward we took Great Eastern all the way down to the Skyship Gondola and had a blast doing it. I read that Great Eastern is a five mile trail and honestly it felt like it on our second day. After that we had a lot of trouble with our goggles freezing up and since we were covered in snow there was no drying them. We ended up quitting around 2:15 and hung out and defrosted in the Snowshed lodge till our bus came at 3. Once back we napped and then had dinner at Choices. The restaurant was nice and I would recommend it. Overall today was just OK but they can't all be sunny and wind free. I didn't mind and my aching legs were actually happy for shorter day. Overall this was a great trip. We probably won't be back here for a few years since we want to try other mountains but I will always have a soft spot for Kmart... my first big mountain on skis.

Had a great first day here at KMart. We skied from 9:30 to 3 mostly on blues and greens. The cold wasn't a problem cause I was rocking the "Stay Puffed Marshmallow Woman" look. Seriously, we did 3 layers on the bottom and 4 layers on the top and were golden for the day. We had some minor goggle fogging/ icing but it was easily remedied with an anti fog cloth. Like Bob said earlier, we mostly skied the left side (by the map) of the mountain and had a blast doing it. I don't think we hit any bad conditions, only saw a few, easily avoided ice patches and even got to ski some first tracks (powder coated and cord believe it or not). FYI, my favorite KMart trail is definitely Great Eastern. I love a long one. Hahaha. Anyway, weekday trips are definitely the way to go up here. The crowds were non existent and so were the lift lines. One of the trails we skied on the way to Sunrise was so dead we went almost 10 minutes without seeing another person. I'm not complaining... it's just not something I'm used to. Our hotel (The Inn of the Six Mountains) is pretty nice. It's a little run down but the room is comfortable and clean and the hot tub and pool are indoors. OK, there is a hot tub outside but I'm not brave or drunk enough to bear 5 degrees in a bikini. We'll be taking some pictures tomorrow and skiing the right side of the mountains so check back in if you care. Later.

It's a fun mountain but it's a bit small. We love it for half days (especially since it's so close) but any longer than that and for us it would get boring. It really depends on what you are looking for and what kind of skiiers/ riders you are. Go and try it out. Small or not you'll still be skiing.

We skied BC from 8:30 to 11:30 and had a blast. The conditions were fabulous although a bit cold. The lift lines were non existent in the morning and totally manageable later which made for a less grouchy Bob. We skied every open trail and they were all beautifully groomed and mostly uncrowded. My favorite run of the day has to be Upper and Lower Extreme to Lower Polar Bear to the quad. Overall we had a great day and look forward to coming back after we get back from KMart. OK... now for the bitching... I only have two issues this time... #1. Timberline was closed the whole time we were there which sucked a lot. #2. The courtyard area was very slippery. I actually fell on my ass on our way out.

Yikes... then my 8ish is total shit. We've been so stressed lately that getting up at the ass crack of dawn hasn't really been an option. We hope to break ourselves of the nasty habit of sleeping in by our trip Tuesday.

How were the lift lines? What times were you there?
-
Bob and I are going tomorrow morning and were wondering what we have to look forward to. Thanks in advance.
-
We almost went there too. We could have "done lunch". Or not.
-
Grrrrr. I'll have to leave you a present on your car next time as proof. By the way... do you prefer scented or unscented... plastic or cardboard applicator?

I feel the need to put my $.02 in on this one. If you don't care just stare at my icon for a minute or skip to the next post. If it was one person's experience than you would have a point. It isn't one person. Not even close.

We both skied the boardercross course but Bob did it prettier than me. The person who fell was a younger, kinda chubby boy on a board who fell off of the chair about 10 ft. or so from the loading platform. He was sitting on the right. He landed right on a pile of snow and death cookies. I couldn't tell you what he was wearing or what he was skiing but I can tell you that it was funny as shit. It might even beat the time I saw a kid refuse to get off the lift at BC a run for the money as my funniest ski moment. Yeah. I really appreciate that man. We would have liked to stay longer today but the lift lines started to get ridiculous around 11. LIFT LINES BLOW G@#$S. WTF Blue? I don't remember you being this crowded last year!

Hey! Don't forget Bob & me.

Bob and I were there right after 8 and skied till about 11:30. We ended up skiing just about every trail and and I agree they were all pretty damn good. Main St. was a little bi-polar what with chalky powder at the top and hard pack at the bottom but it was a fun sort of bi-polar so it was OK. I passed on Challenge today because my legs were toast by the time we got around to it but... I won't lie... it looked kinda scary with the bumps on it. That being said, I guess I should take a moment to own up to the fact that I fell on PARADISE today. OK... I didn't actually fall... my feet kind of just slid out from under me... but still! I hit a spot that was a little skied off and went to make a small turn and whoops. In my defense like three other people also went down. I'm not proud (there you go Bob. Laugh it up). Anyway... I didn't see any PASR's which is unusual but it was pretty crowded. I think my scariest moment was skiing the top section of Razors (it was slick and I was flying). My favorite trail was Switchback. My favorite moment... only cause I didn't have a Mark Miller sighting... was watching a kid on a board fall off of the Main St. chair. Priceless. Hope everyone has fun tomorrow morning. Bob and I will be at BC so if your there and you see us say "Hi". In summary...today was my 22nd ski day ever. I skied FAST... I pushed myself really hard... I had a great time. The end.

Grrrrr... I hate Jeff almost as much as I hate bumps. I would have put that trail on my list and been all pissed when I got there and looked at the trail map. Oh Jeff, I will definitely be running into you at least once this season. Be prepared for a full on yard sale my friend. If I can catch you that is.

Our Killington trip is fast approaching (5 days...yay!) so any tips, suggestions, comments, etc. would be great. Thanks in advance (I know I'll regret that one later).

I HATE THE STEPS IN FRONT OF THE PARK
sexkitten replied to yardsaleclothing's topic in Blue Mountain
Of course you can't. This is why I love you. That's it... you don't get anymore trips this year. -
I've always wanted to ski down the tubing hill. Maybe Doug could cause a ruckus on Raceway so the rest of us can hike over and give it a go. Seriously, I've never been tubing and want to try it someday.
-
It's still on the trail map but definitely not on the list. Oooooohhhhh... Blue got caught pulling a JFBB!!!! Ooooohhhhh... I'm writing them an e-mail. I bet they'll fix it. They love to say "30 trails 100% open"!

Man you guys are mean lately. Isn't EPIC a relative term?

I HATE THE STEPS IN FRONT OF THE PARK
sexkitten replied to yardsaleclothing's topic in Blue Mountain
OK... don't laugh... I have a hard time carrying my skis and poles up the steps. I wear mittens and have small hands. It can't be helped. If there was a park pass I would have one even though I only occasionally go thru the park and hardly ever hit the features. Thank you. Even though I don't necessarily agree with everything I can definitely see your point. I kinda feel the same way sometimes. Then again... if I could somehow keep idiots off of my favorite trail I would probably be all for it. -
I was wondering where the car was too.

I HATE THE STEPS IN FRONT OF THE PARK
sexkitten replied to yardsaleclothing's topic in Blue Mountain
I hate the steps too. Park passes would make way more sense (can't believe I said that) if Blue must keep people out of the park. Now to stir the shit (remember the following statement/ question is my opinion so try not to jump on me too hard)... What's the deal with wanting to keep people out of the park? Older ladies, parents with kids and newer skiers (like me) are all paying customers who might want to check out some of the features and how to use them. I feel that regular skiers/ riders have as much right to use the park as the "pros" hitting all the rail and the jumps. I know that there a lot of people who wander into the park who don't know the etiquette and interfere with other skiers/ riders using the features but how is that different on the rest of the mountain? Think about it... how many people do you see out of control on a double black, or who can't get off of the lift without falling or can't figure out that it's not appropriate to stop and sit in the middle of a trail. And don't give me "the consequences are more dangerous" if you suck in the park crap. Plenty of serious injuries happen for dumb reasons on the rest of the mountain as in the park. If I want to take a ride through the park to see what it's all about I think I should be able to. OK... that's enough...I'm done. -
Maybe. I ski with my husband Bob. He wears a blue jacket and I wear a black and white one. Glad to hear (Mark) that you are fixing the little gripes. If I may...the lift line area at the lower quad could also use some tweaking. Some more stanchion/ fencing would make the lines are a little more organized and consequently quicker IMO. That being said, I really had a blast last night and can't wait for our next visit. If only BC was a hair bigger.
