  1. Finndog, I think I may have seen your friend crash. You are right about the conditions, they were pretty tricky. When my legs needed a rest Bob and I cruised the easy trails and totally enjoyed watching the newbies fall. I picked up alot of poles, that's for sure. Although, it wasn't very funny when, on Challenge, (while ski patrol was taking up 1/2 of the mountain) a crazy old guy was totally out of control and took me out... TWICE. I finally asked him to go ahead of me, where he took out a little kid who could have outskiied him with his eyes closed. Damn newbies! At least when I fall I don't take out other skiers.
  2. We were at Blue on Sunday from 7:15 to 12:30. Conditions weren' t bad considering the weather. Early it was packed granluar over a nice ice layer. As the day went on it slushed up into a granular powder, which was pushed into ski jarring piles. Anyway, we skied the blues for the 1st hour or so, then did a few Challenge runs (Razors & Raceway was closed for racing). Challenge was full of varied conditions, but totally skiable and not too icy. Early in the day, when no one was over there, I took a run on Lower Sidewinder (finally) and I wasn't really impressed. I think it would have been better if there was more snow, since there were some ruts and bare spots and the burms weren't really high enough. I did get some air off of the 1st jump at the end of the trail, (my 1st attempt at the jumps) but we stayed out of the park for the rest of the day, since we don't know what we are doing there and want to stay out of the way of those who do. All and all, not a bad day.
  3. Boblikescats can take me to Ruths Chris anytime. I hear he is the guy at the King of Prussia joint orderng $130.00 shots of Louis III for everyone at the bar. I've also heard that he totally cased the jump on Timberline at Bear Creek a few weeks back. Maybe it's a rumor, maybe not. But if anyone here knows if I am a girl or not or if my avatar is me or not, it's him.
  4. This weather is crazy. I am torn between being pissed that it is not cold enough to ski and happy that it's warm enough to get the motorcycle out of the garage. What to do.
  5. No advertising here, I been bought and paid for for 7 years now. As for the ski stuff, thanks for all the imput. We have decided to do Poconos and New York this year, so if the weather doesn't cooperate we aren't out too much. Next year will be Vermont and Canada and 2007 will be our out West year. I love the challange of East coast conditions, so West coast is not a priority, though I hear it changes your outlook on skiing. Ice is my friend. To Shadows: Poles just create drag and slow you down. The only time they are useful is to poke people who have fallen getting off the lift.
  6. To all of the doubters, if I was a guy you would know right away because all of my posts would be me bragging about my skills. The other dead giveaway would be that I would spell skills "skillz". Back to the topic, do you all really feel that a trip to "K-Mart" is a waste. Lots of other people have told me to pass it up and do Okemo instead. I just wonder if Killington is like Disney, not the best, but still a "must do" in life. What do you think? P.S. Red Lobster? I am not worthy. Besides my favorite date activity is hard to do on a full stomach.
  7. Kid bowling is fun but not as fun as a fast, burmy, banked trail. Oh well, here's hoping for next year.
  8. We are looking to go the late February, but if the weather doesn't get better we may postpone till next year. Do you guys think that Killington is a better choice than the canada mountains? We may go there instead, since I've never been. P.S. I am not a guy, I am a 5'10" blonde GIRL.
  9. Well, all I know is the last Friday I went the burms were there and Sunday they weren't. Also, the trail is long, yes, but the section with the jump banks and burms is not, jimbo.
  10. It's funny you say that. I actually just updated my profile (notice I have an avatar now) and the pic I wanted to attach didn't work. I think it is too large. Oh well.
  11. That sucks. I like burms and jumps built for distance not height. Too bad. BC has a trail that had some banked turns, burms and jumps, but it was like 10 ft. long and they have straigntened and flattened it out anyway. Oh well.
  12. Doug and Bob to keep me warm after a long, cold day of Canada skiing... hmmm... What to do.
  13. I haven't been to Blue since December didn't know at that time that Lower Sidewinder was redesigned. I have since used up my Christmas Bear Creek passes and will be back to Blue this week. I can't wait for to try the redesigned trail and was wondering what you all thought? Try to remember that I ski and that tricks are not my strong point. Thanks.
  14. We are planning a Canada trip and can't decide between Whistler and Tremblant. Anyone here have an opinion (about these two mountains)? Thanks.
  15. The burms on Timberline are the best part of BC for us skiers. If you can't handle poorly groomed trails then don't ski in PA (Ha!).
  16. It's too sad that by mid week the temps will be back up to 50 degrees and all that blown snow will be for nothing.
  17. Please don't change Timberline. A few weeks ago it had great burms and a jump, which is perfect for the skiers and boarders who don't want to deal with the park but still want a little action. A wider (& snowier, sorry) trail would be great, but try not to take away all of the terrain park style features from the parts of the mountain outside of the park. I like BC. It is super close and the facilities are top notch, but the mountain is a bit small can become boring for those of us outside of the terrain park. Keep Timberline and add some gladed trails and you will keep the skiers there all day and coming back. Why not try for happy boarders and happy skiers?
  18. Went yesterday from ass crack of dawn till 1ish. The crew did the best they could blowing snow Saturday, but the warm temps had trails and some of the park showing the starts of bare spots. At least no dirt patches yet, but I expect that not to be the case by tonight. FYI TO MOTHER NATURE, IT'S JANUARY, NOT MARCH!!! WTF is up with 60 degrees? Anyway, the forcast for this week pretty much kills any chance of sking thru the weekend. Here's hoping for next week.
  19. Do you really think Pinnacle will draw a big crowd? We are going Sunday too.
  20. We'll be there but not in the park.
  21. As I skier I am a little ignorant when it comes to the whole park pass thing. Can anyone buy one or do you have qualify? Is the point of the passes to keep people in the "bunny park" till they know the ettiquette and have the skills to not get hurt or hurt others in the "big boy" park? To me it seems kind of unfair that a mountain would limit you to an inferior park till you are good enought for the real one, yet let any ass on the black diamonds. To address the ettiquette issue, I think a large number of snowboarders (notice I did not say all, since there are plenty of accomplished and considerate boarders) lack common sense and courtsey and could care less about proper ettiquette. How can you expect someone to call their drop when they can't even strap in without inconveniencing the other skiers/ boarders around them/ coming off the lift. It also seems to me that you will never learn the more difficult tricks until you try them on the real rails, jumps, etc. Note to defensive snowboarders... I did say I was ignorant to the whole idea, so before you jump on me remember that.
  22. Riding Blue Knob hard if I have my way, but we won't get into that here. Kidding. Thanks for all your imput.
  23. I can go to Blue Knob or Camelback for free over my birthday (February). Just wanted to see which mountain you all like better and why. I also welcome any feedback on which area has better lodging choices, restaurants, entertainment, etc. Thanks in advance for your help.
  24. Yes I have a little sister, but I am afraid to ask why you'd want to know.
  25. Well we went and the mountain conditions were pretty good. FYI to the boarders the park was pretty trashed. Being a skiier I stay away from the park, but on the lift ride up I could see that the whole park had a ton of bare spots and deep ruts at the end of the rails. The rest of the mountain had a pretty good covering or an icy slush, which made for good turning. As the night got later the slush started to freeze and it was getting pretty quick, which was nice. Around 9 P.M. it actually started to snow a little, so hopefully they'll get some accumulation or make some snow tonight to fix the park and the few bare spots on the rest of the mountain. Hardly any lift lines and close to ideal conditions overall made it a pretty cool night to ski. P.S. I am an old person (26), so if conditions suck I try to save my knees, hips, etc. for a better day.
