I went to Seven Springs Mountain on Sunday and was very surprised to see that about 80% of the lifts don't have a bar that came down. Also on the other 20% that did have a bar, thats all it was, was a straight bar going across with no leg rest or anything.

Well i hit up my first set of the Western PA Mountains. Hit up Seven Springs last night and then Blue Knob this morning. Both were alright conditions but should be getting better as we are getting hit with a storm right now. Seven Springs is a different mountain then I have ever been on. The verticle sucks but they have a lot of different runs and it is pretty much wide open. You can practically start on one side of the mountain and end up in the middle on just one run. It is like open skiing. Blue Knob was nice. They only have 8 runs open and I think by next week they should have the bottom half open which is all the good diamonds. Also if we get enough snow they will open up the Glades trails which I hear are really good. Blue knob has some great verticle but the lifts are sooooo slow. I was looking around and trying to find the vert of each chair lift but I cannot. If anyone has any idea of these would you let me know? Another thing is that Blue Knob has a bus. It must be something in a mountain name with Blue. It is not set up yet because there park isn't open. Next time I go I will try to borrow a friends camera to take some pictures of the bus.

I didn't do the park at all. All I know is that at the very bottom of it they had two sets of jibs set up. They each had two rails so you could do two different runs.

Went up to New York this weekend with some friends of mine. We rented a house about 10 minutes from the mountain and it was a good time. Got out to the mountain on Saturday around 1 and skied straight to four. Got in a total of 12 runs. The conditions were mad "applesauce". The weather was overcast all day and the entire top half of the mountain was covered in clouds. It rained all morning so we didnt go till the afternoon. It was still drizzling but nothing heavy. All in all it was agood day and I would love to go back when the entire mountain is open.

Sunday River Really far north, good terrain, should have good conditions at that time.

Thanks but 181 is a little big for me. I am only 5'9" 145 lbs. Also I hate snow blades. They are for people who don't know or want to learn how to ski.

Looking at using my Christmas money on buying a new pair of skis. Before I didnt think I wanted a pair of twin tip, but I'm starting to like doing some park. Just wondering what would be my choices of good all mountain skis that are twin tips. I heard that the Public Enemy's are a good set but any information would be nice.

Anyone know if Tanglewood is open and if so how many trails? I can't find it on the website

I will be at blue mountain on thursday the 21st from about 4:30/5 till closing. I am on blue rossi skis and wears white baggy pants and will be wearing a black hat with white stripes. if it is real cold i will be wearing a black jacket but if not prolly a navy blue sweat shirt that says "south baseball" and has a big golden hawk on the front. if you see me holler at me. the name is brian. I will also definately be with a boarder and maybe 2 boarders and another skier.

What condition are the B2's in?

Seven Springs will be opening this Friday, the 8th. As of right now the base is between 8"-14" and have no received any natural snow although they should be within the next two days. Looking at the webcams, the hill looks pretty nice so far. I plan to make a few trips down to there after winter break.

Hey thanks for all the information guys! I only have one class monday weds friday in the morning so I will probably be hitting the slopes mostly on those days. When we start getting snow and if anyone ever wants to meet up just gimme a holler. Skiing > Class

Oh also i am an intermediate to advanced skier. I can do pretty much every run in Pa easily but i wouldn't say I'm an expert cause I havent been anywhere but here.

Looking for some advice on getting new skis. Money is not really an option but I really don't need top end products. I only ski in the Pa/Nj area taking maybe one trip up to Vermont. So I am basically skiing on small mountains. I don't do much park so I'm not looking for twin tips. I mostly just do trail runs. I am 5'10" and weigh like 150. Please don't get away from this topic or try to sell me any because I already have a place where I can get a good deal. Thanks in advance

Just wondering if anyone is a regular at this mountain. I am now at college about 45 minutes away so I think this is going to be my new home mountain. When I lived outside of Philly my home was Blue. Anyone know how this compares to there?

Yeah IUP is a good time especially if you are into partying. Can't wait to hit the slopes after winter break. I'm gonna try out anything thats within like an hour and a half to two hours and then ill see which i like the best.

Hey I am new to the western PA mountains and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about Seven Springs. I have heard people talking about it at my school but was wondering if anyone has skied it. Also if anyone knows anything about any of the Western PA mountains any info would be appreciated. I now go to college at IUP about 45 mins from Pittsburg. I used to ski Blue a lot but thats too far now.

Anyone been up there today? I just want to know how the conditions are and is it worth the hour and a half drive for 4 hours of skiing tonight.

Just wondering if anyone plans on going up tomorrow morning. I have off from school and the only people that can come with me are beginners learning to board so I'm looking for someone to just hang out with.
