  1. I agree. I think these states that are opening up will see a surge. Unfortunately, it will take about 2 weeks to see it and the spread will be even greater.
  2. Made in China!!!
  3. I think it will be more like blaming the main stream media for misinterpreting his remarks. And the typical propaganda MO; blame someone else (the "other"), turn the conversation to something "outrageous" that someone else did (bright shiny objects diversion), point out what a great job he is doing ( Lies), call it "fake news" (more lies), cite an unreliable testimonial (cite some crackpot theory from some discredited "study").
  4. If you haven't received it yet you're not going to get it unless you get it in the second round. The money all went to bigger businesses with smaller satellite operations and the banks most profitable customers. Don't think it won't happen in the second round as well. The only down side is the chance of bad press and then you give it back.
  5. The numbers aren't as simple as most people think. Here's an example: Flu: Out of 10,000 people 20% get the flu and 2% of those people die. 10,000 x 0.2 x 0.02 = 40 dead out of 10,000. Corona: Out of 10,000 people 40% get it and 1.5% of those people die: 10,000 x 0.4 x 0.015 = 60 dead people out of 10,000. That's 20 more dead out of 10,000 or 50% more dead with a lower death rate per case.
  6. Never heard about that one or saw a picture of it before. Thanks for posting.
  7. Covid-19 is a Lie but then why the mask? Oh the irony........
  8. I've been to Oktoberfest and you're really not missing much. It's crowded and unless you have a contact or already booked something you wouldn't be able to get into one of the tents. It's much better to go to Munich in the summer when the big beer gardens are open.
  9. Looks more like a couple hundred people if that. All close together and not wearing masks. We'll see how that works out for them. Unfortunately it will take a couple of days to know whether there is a spike in infections. Too bad you can only give Darwin Awards posthumously.
  10. OK. All of you people who are still collecting a paycheck. Where are you spending your relief money? I was thinking about that this weekend and am looking for the best way to help local people and businesses. The whole idea of the money is to spur the economy. So i think the right thing to do is use it for people who are out of work. I would like to keep it local as well. So I'm not planning on using it for online purchases. I like eating in restaurants but I'm not much of a take-out guy. I drop off groceries a couple times a year at a local food bank. Instead of groceries I think I'll just give them some money. They know better than me what they need. Any other ideas?
  11. What's nice about this thread and all of them on this site so far is that the conversations have all been very civilized and enlightening by those with expertise in certain areas. It's a shame our government can't be that way. The system was designed for compromise.
  12. Most private colleges are well endowed. (Not like a horse. Like they have a lot of money) It's the state schools that will see their budgets slashed. The GOP gives their friends billions but they would object to giving money to state schools because that would be "socialism."
  13. You wouldn't want to do that at Lowes or Home Depot. Their wood is not the best grade of lumber. You usually have to pick through half of the skid to get a few good pieces.
  14. One of my friends is not a scrapper but more of a salvager. He goes around a nice neighborhood on trash night and picks up things to sell at 2 yard sales he does every year or on craigslist. His favorite thing to pick up is vacuum cleaners. 9 out of 10 are either just clogged because the bag is full or the belt broke. He fixes them and sells them for $20 to $60. Pays for his ski and beer money.
  15. I've seen a lot of older people out. Some of it really stupid. Like the 50 something women walking her mother with a walker out of the store watching that she didn't fall. I wanted to ask her why the hell wouldn't you shop for her??? Then there was the 80 something women buying lottery tickets at the beer distributor. Buying lottery tickets is stupid enough but that's the only reason you went out now?? Most stores have senior shopping the first hour of opening but I see older people shopping at all hours. I guess they're the same ones going to the post office around Christmas and clogging up the line at lunch time when people who work are trying to mail a package on their lunch hour.
  16. You could always get a bowl cut.
  17. Next time give us a warning. You just can't unsee that. 😆
  18. In a week or so you'll be able to find all of the toilet paper you want. The hoarders have closets full of it and will soon run out of space to store more. There is no shortage. it's just that crazy people bought and are hoarding a years supply of the stuff.
  19. Thanks for clearing that up. There are people of all persuasions that do not immunize their kids thanks to the crazy antivaxers who have no education nor experience in microbiology.
  20. I believe the Hasidic Jews don't immunize their children either.
  21. Wow. That's a big lawn to cut with a reel mower. I looked into a modern reel mower a few years ago for cutting my 1/3 acre trying to be environmentally conscious. But they cut the grass to short. I cut mine high to help discourage weeds. People think cutting it short will let them get by with fewer cuts but it doesn't work that way and is bad for the lawn.
  22. Your lawn is small enough to cut with a reel mower and you have to hire someone to do it? How much time does it save you?
  23. April Fools. That and it's my daughters birthday. (no kidding.)
