  1. I was there Friday. Snowed 4" while we were there. Skiing was great and the place was empty.
  2. Check their conditions or call before you go. I was there last week. Some trails were good but they closed Cannonball as a stream was undermining the snow. Most trails had really thin snow cover. It did look like they still had some fan guns set up but I don't know how they'll make out with this rain.
  3. Just bought one. $14.50 with $2 service fee. I'll be there tomorrow.
  4. Magic is a great mountain. I hit it earlier this month when conditions were great. I imagine the base is a little thin and wet right now. The new owners have made significant improvements in a short period of time. They got the Black lift running and were working on the Green lift when the lift mechanic who was doing the work died. They said it will be running next year. It will serve the east side about 3/4 up the mountain.
  5. GSS is stuck in the 90's. Magic has new owners who have been making improvements to the facilities with the primary focus on snowmaking. They will still have a lot of natural only trails but will open in December and go as long as they can into spring. You seem like the kind of person who will love the place and the regulars there.
  6. Wizard can be tough in spots. I'm guessing that they didn't want to groom to preserve snow for the weekend. Most of the trails are natural snow trails only.
  7. Go to Magic tomorrow.
  8. I've seen Blue blow snow the day before they closed. I think they close no matter what when they start using the lodge for weddings.
  9. Was there last night from 4:30 to 7:30. Snowed the whole time. Snow was good but the visibility a little flat. Run of the night was Main Street. The snow was laying in there as opposed to getting blown off most of the other trails.
  10. Deals at Elk are hard to come by. For weekdays the best deal is to use the $5 coupon at SkiPA. The township tickets are something like $3 off. Not really worth the effort. SkiPA coupon
  11. +1. I've been saying that for years. It would help with cutting down the lines for the sixpack and traffic on the upper trails as well. A lot of kids just want to ride park but now they have to go all the way to the top and scrape down the trails all the way to the park. Just put in a handle tow or carpet and let them ride park.
  12. This is a major misconception about Magic. Half of Magic is really nice green and blue cruisers. There's very little traffic on the trails so you don't have to worry about them getting run over. Go. I guarantee you won't regret it. Your wife and son will probably love it.
  13. Go to Magic Friday. It's off the hook and won't be crowded on Friday.
  14. The switch to skis is even more prevalent out west and in New England. With the advent of wider skis for powder skiing, and popularity of tree skiing, skis are the better option.
  15. Ski Blue Knob. Blows Camelback away.
  16. Your reading comprehension is not so good. It also says, "Or cash."
  17. There's no name on them and no one ever asked me for a name or ID when I've used it.
  18. Anyone have a WNEP Card with Whiteface still available on it that isn't going to use it? Willing to trade a B1G1 to Belleayre and Mountain Creek, plus a Killington B1G1 good April 7th to closing day. Or cash for the card. PM me if you want to trade.

But Blue has about 200' flat runout.
  20. Nice report. I heard they had their busiest day since Lazlo bought the place in '93.
  21. You could always live in a hotel in PA and take the Bieber bus to Xanadu and ski inside.
  22. You can live in a hotel in NJ and get a season pass to ski at Xanadu if it ever opens.
  23. I was there yesterday as well. Used that same discount. Skied 9:30 to 1:30. Conditions were good. I actually rode the Longhaul lift a few times. They left upper Fast Track and Runaway ungroomed. No real lines to speak of on the lower mountain. Lodge was crazy busy when i went to leave. Could hardly find a place to take my boots off.
  24. Buckmans has night tickets for $32.00 Buckmans discount tickets
  25. I ski a lot. Just more in NY and VT than PA. Skied at Elk last Saturday. Great conditions and the terrain is the best in PA. (And yes, I've been to Blue Knob, twice.)
