  1. It's called Rumaki

    Opening dec. 4

They do have a lift and trail report up.
  3. There is a groupon offer for a $25.00 lift ticket for Alpine Mountain. Anyone over an intermediate would be bored after a few runs but for beginners or kids it's a great place and uncrowded. Ticket is good any time so it might be a good choice to avoid the holiday, MLK, and Pres. Day crowds. http://www.groupon.com/deals/alpine-mountain-ski-snow-tubing-center-1
  4. Thanks for the summary. Not a job most of us would want but we're glad you like it and it is one that is under appreciated. The previous owners did spend a lot of money and put in a state-of-the-art snow making system. Do they fill in the lazy river with barrels or anything to avoid having to make enough snow to fill it up? The new owners seem to be making positive changes. The lodge upgrade is nice and the new building for rentals was badly needed. The last owners spent money like drunken sailors. If the new owners are more cautious with the spending that is not a bad thing compared to the place closing. They did miss an early opportunity to make snow. But no one had a crystal ball to predict that the early December weather would be unseasonably warm. When it gets cold again they will make snow. I'm sure Blue is not making a profit on a daily basis at this point but then they can afford it because they will make it up between Christmas and the end of February.
  5. From what I can figure and since 12/13 is the first day they have tickets available on Liftopia; I would guess that is their projected opening date.
  6. Blue has their Cyber Monday three packs but they are only good for nonholiday weekdays. I'll pass. But they're likely to go somewhere else next time.

  8. Nice neighborhood..... but it looks a little dead.
  9. Peak Resorts is having some sort of Cyber Monday sale on 12/1. They'll likely have discount tickets available online then.
  10. Here you go guys but I still think he was goofy. Are those goggles or a bra that he's holding?
  11. Who cares as long as he is gone?
  12. The point is that if they just let the whales sit the cookies would be minimized and the conditions much better. They spend tons of money on state-of-the-art snow making and still make crappy snow. It wouldn't cost them any more to wait.
  13. Ever think of starting a new thread relative to the subject?
  14. Be prepared for cookie city. Why is it that anyone who reads ski forums even a little knows that most areas let the whales sit to drain out any excess moisture before they groom them out but Blue Mountain never does this. They shut the guns off on Main Street and plowed the whales out right away. They shut the guns off on Vista and they have already run over the whales from the looks of it. They are not opening until Saturday. No wonder their grooming always sucks and their conditions should read MMC (Man Made Cookies).
  15. New owners this year have renovated the lodge, added an ice rink, and new rental gear. Opening the bar but not sure if they have their liquor license yet. Nothing hard there but a great place for beginners and kids. Slopes and lodge are uncrowded.
  16. Does it go from here to California?
  17. If you believe that I've got a bridge for sale.
  18. You'll like it. It's a big mountain with a lot varied terrain and a lot of glades. It never gets as crowded as the places in VT.
  19. Sounds good. Even B1G1's are hard to get for there prime season. Mid march should be good there for the free tickets. Have you been there before?
  20. Are you sure those tickets are good on weekends? IIRC most of the Gore tickets from the shows are only good on weekdays.
  21. I agree with this if you are going with a nonskiing girlfriend. There is a lot to do in Lake Placid. But the mountain is still about 10 mi. from town. Otherwise I actually like Gore better than WF. Conditions are usually better at Gore and the mountain is really spread out.
  22. One side of Magic is groomed blue and green cruisers. A novice or intermediate will love it. The other side is black diamonds usually one of which is groomed and one long groomed blue. There are plenty of woods but you don't have to ski them. Magic has a great vibe. Check out the trail map. http://www.magicmtn.com/trailmap.php
  23. I think 7S ran it for one year before Nutting bought 7S. The state is putting in the new lift and repairing the snowmaking but Nutting is responsible for the lodge which has since been vandalized.
  24. She could give you a lot more than full service. Crabs, STDs..........
  25. I would do any of the VT places over Belleayre. Bromley has some great glades. You didn't say what time of year you are going but in that area I would pick Magic over any of the others but there has to be a natural snow base. They are only open Friday through Sunday. I would do Magic Thurs. and Bromley Friday. Magic tickets are only $20 on Thursday and it will be like your own private mountain unless it is a powder day. Manchester has plenty of places to stay and restaurants.
