There's difference between being educated and being intelligent. I've met some educated idiots in my day.
-
Exactly. It wasn't like the chair fell off because they didn't load properly. What was an extra lift attendant going to do? Ride the rope and hold the chair on the line?
-
I'm not a lawyer but I read and deal with a lot of contracts at work regarding liability. I wouldn't think the responsibility code applies to lifts. Skiers have a responsibility to ski in control and avoid obvious and common obstacles. The ski areas have a responsibility to provide safe lifts. Skiers have a reasonable expectation that the lifts are safe. That said; all machines can have unexpected break downs regardless of the how carefully they are maintained. Parts are inspected but some flaws are not seeable to the naked eye like hair line cracks or internal flaws in a casting. In today's litigious enviorment no doubt someone will pay. But until the experts including the lift manufacturer determine the cause I would not automatically blame Camelback. And unfounded rumors like someone dying should not be repeated and should be deleted. And I'm no Camelback fanboy.
-
It could be unforeseen equipment failure. Parts break sometimes regardless of how good the maintenance is.

Correct. EPR bought the Vail properties before Vail bought the ski operations. EPR buys the property and leases it back to the operators. They are a real estate investment company. That provides capital for new lifts and other improvements. I think they also own a lot of the Boyne properties and other non skiing resort properties.
-
I would be very surprised if that is accurate. I would think that the accident would have to be investigated and the lift thoroughly inspected before the Department of Labor and Industry and Camelbacks insurance company would let that lift run again.

CVS Tannersville. I had been looking everywhere in a 2 hr radius for the past three or 4 weeks.

I finally was able to schedule my first shot for next Monday. Just got lucky on one of sites.
-
That's great but they should be doing that every day. At the current pace PA is going I won't get a shot until July. And I qualify for 1a.
-
MRG regulars ski on moss and rocks and call those conditions "excellent". And they actually look good doing it.

Even with the higher day ticket prices, do you think they made up for the loss of revenue from the food and beverage and the wedding business? I know weddings are a huge profit area for venues. How many would they have on an average weekend?

I use Pre Flight Parking. They have indoor and outdoor parking. You can check the rates here according to you travel dates. Pre Flight PHL

2/22/21...not that busy...snowing
trackbiker replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Just order one of those of electric Mustangs and you'll never have to worry about gas prices again. Of course you'd have to find something else to bitch about then. 😉 -
Buy a real house. Trailers depreciate.
-
With all the snow we've had this year ice dams can be a problem too.

Atomic Jeff will disagree with me but a lease is the most expensive way to own a car. The interest rate is much higher than financing.
-
A friend who sells cars told me that they make the the most money off of leases.
-
Both are true when there's snow.

That's a long day trip. Both times I skied there were on return trips from business in the Pittsburgh area. They have some good terrain but I still think Elk has better and more variety.
-
As minimum they should do that on weekends.
-
It seems that they push everything out as soon as they can to get more terrain open rather than let the whales sit and dry out for a day. Hence the cookies. But I still think they could do a better job of grooming. I think one of Elks tricks is to groom in the morning before they open. Blue grooms as soon as they shut down at night rather than letting it set up if it was a warm day. That causes the frozeroy and harder surfaces.
-
I've been saying this for years. I think that Blue just doesn't care. The crowds show up anyway.
-
I agree. If Gore is closer I'm going to Gore. But if you're ever in the Mount Snow Area for a few days, heading to Berkshire East on a weekend day is not a bad idea.
-
The Shaefers have made many improvements since buying Catamount. I think with continual improvements it will be pretty good in a few years. You might want to try it again when all the trails are open. Have you tried Berkshire East? I'd rather ski there than Mount Snow on a holiday weekend when I'm in the area.

Looks Like the summit is still in a cloud. Hope that clears up for you. Is the Wilmington trail open?
