I'd call it poetic justice.

I like trains!!! Train thread...

Cool photos. That pic doesn't show a large part of Bethlehem Steel. The plant extended all the way up to where I78 is today with the coke works and other divisions. I used to call on Bethlehem Steel in the late 80's early 90's. You would get a pass and a map at the original headquarters building on 4th street and then drive sometimes a few miles in the plant to meet your contact. -
Jay should be relatively empty this season as many of their customers are Canadian and they likely won't be coming to the U.S. to ski. If you get to Jay definitely check out Burke.
-
The survey was asking if people would take it today. People might feel more confident that it was vetted thoroughly by February.
-
I agree. I think it's because if one came out today people would think the trials were rushed for political or financial gain.

Liftopia manages the ticket page for a lot ski area web sites. Or at least they used to before they stopped paying the ski areas last spring.

Don't worry. If Biden wins you won't be able to shut them up.

American Parkway runs in the right-of-way of that line farther west. -
Whoo-hoo, $399 for a CB unlimited (age restricted) season pass

Wasn't Camelback charging for the upper lot that is closer to the lodge on weekends last year? -
Since most people buy houses based on the monthly payment they can afford, when interest rates eventually go up the prices will drop to keep the payments affordable.
-
Magic's policy is that you have to pay when you make the reservation. Don't know how that works with pass holders though. Maybe a refundable deposit that is forfeited if you don't show up?

I think it has more to do with parents not wanting to arrange for day care or have a hard time working from home when the kids are there.

I like to play with them when I have time. I act interested in what they're selling, ask stupid questions, then give them fake info. I've even given them fake credit card numbers. Wow! 1213?! Things are not getting better. I see more lock downs coming. The idiots who wanted to open up too soon to "save" the economy are ending up hurting it more than if they just would have listened to the experts in the first place.

I agree. People don't follow the rules anyway and owners don't want to piss off customers by enforcing them or have them get in their face about the rules. Just shut the bars down. They are the worst for social distancing.
-
What they're trying to do is not shut down bars completely. They don't want people sitting elbow to elbow at the bar unless it is someone they came in with. They don't want people milling around and moving from table to table like it's 2019. That's why the rules state you have to come in with a mask and only take it off if you're seated. If you're not seated you need to be wearing a mask. I've seen people ignoring the rules and it only makes things drag out longer, ends up shutting down places again, and hurts the economy and owners more.

Test results in FL are running about 6 days so I suspect the daily numbers will go up considerably in the next week due to the lag in results
-
I really am surprised at how some people even manage to make their way through life. Americans are even dumber than I thought. It doesn't take too much critical thought to see how the rest of the world did much better than the U.S. BECAUSE THEY WORE MASKS. This graph is from the NYT today.
-
Some do. Some don't. The number of daily positives doesn't mean anything unless the total of number of daily tests is about the same every day. The percentage of positives is important as it shows if the trend is up or down. Not intending to pick on you in anyway but your 0.71% isn't correct because you don't know how many who weren't tested have it. It would only mean something statistically if a much larger random sample of people were tested.
-
Those numbers do not include those that have it, haven't been tested, but can still spread it.
-
Politicizing mask wearing during a pandemic is like politicizing parachutes while skydiving.
-
Since there is a 10 to 14 day lag period before people start showing symptoms and about 3 weeks before people end up in a hospital the number are only going to go up. From what I've seen we are screwed and will be locked down again soon. Not to mention the no masks and no social distancing even at outdoor bars, I ride my bike past a park almost every night. There were two full court adult league basketball games going on the other the other night. Too many people interpret "green" as the virus went away. It didn't. The cases were low in February when the virus was spreading without anyone's knowledge. The cases are low now and the virus is spreading. That's what viruses do and nothing has changed. We are headed right back to where we were. I'd love to go out and get a nice draft craft beer and hang with some friends but I'm not going anywhere. And I'm no germophobe. It's science. There's no opinion about it.
-
Here's an interesting interactive page on how the virus spread. It's going to happen all over again. Too many people think "green" is back to normal from what I'm seeing. How the Virus Spread

Like the stable genius said to his cult last weekend, "If you stop testing the numbers will go down." Somehow what he doesn't get is that the hospitalizations and deaths won't go down whether you test or not. He moved the convention from NC to FL because NC was going to make them follow safety protocols. FL won't and there will be very little mask wearing. Hey, you can't fix stupid. So I say pack 'em in and have more rallies. That way by November there will be fewer tRump voters.

The important thing is that you were introduced to those subjects and understand how things work. You also obviously learned critical thinking which the article you mentioned is basically about.

STEM courses are definitely lacking in our schools when people listen to unfounded BS as opposed to experts who have studied things for years.
