  1. right? lol. I'm 5'-10"-ish and I prefer to make short to medium radius turns.....unlike gss
  2. fwiw....I have volkl rtm-81 in 171 cm, fully rockered. kick-ass ski.
  3. um....close to 50% I'd say. on the north face only smoke, lower fast track, and snake pit are the only trails not open. they were blowing mad snow on smoke on Saturday.
  4. we hit up montage for the first time this season on Saturday, and it was a blast. mad props to their mtn ops crew b/c trail expansion was in full swing over the weekend. they dropped the ropes on three trails (high ball and whistler in the AM, and white lightning after lunch). we arrived about 8 am to meet up with an out-of-town acquaintance who wanted to check out the mtn....so yours truly was tour guide for the day. the newly opened trails were a bit rough (death cookies) but the rest of the open terrain was very nice. best snow was to be found on cannon ball and boomer (on the edges for both trails). just before lunch mtn ops began to push the whales on white lightning. it was fun watching their winch cat push out that very steep carpet! après was had per usual at slocum hollow. side bar topic: college buddy of mine skis at tussey mtn and he sent me photos of the ski lift accident that happened there on Saturday, their opening day. the clamp of one of the chairs failed and it slid backwards, pilling up 4 or 5 chairs. all chairs involved had ski school personnel. several injuries, but none life-threatening. that shut the mtn down b/c tussey only has one lift. derp. my buddy said he was stuck on the lift for about a hour...got to be evacuated by repelling down from his chair. fun times.
  5. def love the consistent pitch of main street, but it's just a straight shot. lazy, switchback, and nmdw have a nice routing down the hill, which I enjoy.
  6. Better than main street? well, gss might prefer main street to lazy....figure 11's the whole way!
  7. Def a good trail, but the bumps really make that trail a good one. Lazy mile at blue is probably the best trail open right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. don't need pow skis to ski fresh snow. had a lesson at snowmass, skiing in 12 inches of fresh, and the instructor was on cheater SL skis.....he kicked all our asses in the pow.
  9. yes, but jf is really short, lol!
  10. jf has several areas that they let bump up, and they do seed bumps on exhibition (but those bumps seem to be better than anything at blue). montage almost always has bumps on boomer and white lightning....both trails have bumps that are not seeded and are far superior to anything blue mtn has to offer. the bumps on tunks at elk are good too....probably elk's only saving grace, lol.
  11. hopefully this new guy can seed better, rounder bumps than the previous guy. smh....
  12. 8 trails, 5 lifts. they will have TTB skiing as well. and probably not 30-minute long lift lines, lol!
  13. per their website, Montage to open Thursday at noon.
  14. def saw a dude coming down lower main street in a not-so-solid wedge, couldn't turn to save his life, and ended up almost crashing into one of the snow guns near the bottom. I kinda felt bad for the dude....glad he didnt' hurt anyone around him.
  15. per FB, opening day announcement to be made this afternoon.
  16. still blowing snow. production looks kind of marginal, but it looks like they have been moving some of the snow around (probably to cover the waterpark area I assume. temps look good this week for significant snow making though.
  17. i had a late start to the day, so we go on snow just after 9 am. watched as jfbbskidan, gss, atomicskier, et al. blazing past. atomicjeff was kind enough to give me the heads up on the lift line status. the skiing was awesome today and lazy was in fine shape for its season debut. even the fresh natural stuff on the sides was nice to play in for a few turns. those death-marbles on upper main street needed working on by the groomers, again. the racer kids were out in full force, making us all depressed by how they kill it down the slopes. the lift lines were brutal...but before long staffers were handing out warm chocolate chip cookies and lip balm. why lip balm, i dunno.....doesn't go well with cookies, imho. we called it a day at noon, after 20-25 minute lift lines was reached. good times had by all.
  18. they are still blowing TTB. hopefully this snow and the potential snow early next week will help them out a ton.
  19. looks like a blizzard is nuking lower main street, lol!
  20. sounds mad technical....
  21. blowing top to bottom....good stuff. #microclimate
  22. ya, with their rock skis....smh. too early for the trees.
  23. but it will make things look nice!
  24. blowing mice! *finally*
  25. we'll be there sunday!
