ski train btwn philly and blue???

tinymoose and i just got back from a stellar nite session. conditions were rail-to-rail carving awesomeness mixed in with slaloming btwn the middle school and high school kiddos. we rolled in to the lodge about 5:30 or so to meet up with two of tinymoose's friends. they were doing a group private lesson so i was on my own for most of the evening. temps were nice and mild but not warm enough to damage the snowpack. it was def a nite to carve since anything else was slide, slide, slide. firm but very edgeable. best area was skiers left on grizzly. i was doing my best to help set a descent pattern for bumps, but my contributions for the cause were quickly erased by most ppl straightlining it or side slipping it. oh well, at least i tried. we wrapped things up about 8:20 and headed up to trail's end pub for celebratory beers. and good times were had by all.

skis all waxed and sharpened.....we'll be heading up for an evening session tonite.

I like taking that exit....don't have to deal with rt 22, Whitehall, etc.

yeah, we wrapped it up about then. no new terrain was open this morning. it was a bit colder and less humid, so skiing under the guns wasn't nearly as bad today as it was yesterday. we arrived on site about 8 am, booted up quickly, and then hit the slopes before 8:30 am. first run was one park and it was bullet proof fresh man made. that snow set up very hard, but it was edgeable. we didn't go back to it until lunchtime when others softened it up for us. challenge was really the only thing doing for most of the morning. snow was good on the top part and was a bit ugly towards the middle. the race team closed half of challenge to run slalom gates. happy glade was the run of the day with decent coverage thanks to the dense man made pow: not alot of rocks or stumps were poking through. saw weedreimer snapping doing his warren miller stuff. i stopped by and said hi and we chatted for a few...seems like a solid dude. we wrapped things up about noon and chowed down in the frosty toboggan with some warm bevs and burgers. jf really needs to open up a few more trails to make dealing with the race team's demands more manageable for the general public. floyd's was still rough around the edges.

it was skiing under the guns all day today, but the base they laid down was legit and didn't really get a chance to ice up until the very end of the day. we arrived about 8:15 and got our passes. unfortunately they raised the lift tix prices to full price w/o making any changes to their FB account or to the jfbb website. i complained a bit and spoke to the manager about it. after that it seems they updated the jfbb website. had to burn two of our cbs local vouchers for 5 trails....well, really two (one park and challenge). they were blowing a lot of snow on dematte's and thunderbolt....i suspect those will be open by tomorrow. heading back tomorrow for round two. floyd's was a bit rough around the edges.

we're heading up to get in some turns tomorrow and sunday. it's about friggin' time.

Wasatch is getting nuked right now! not that that helps us out here right now. but at least it's happy thoughts.

eastern pa weather authority is forecasting a pattern change towards the end of dec into early jan. let's hope we are getting the thaw a month early and we get a solidly cold and snowy January!
