  1. believe it or not, quite a few of us do like montage.....i agree with gss on this point: willingness to make snow early and economics. any ski day we have right now is bonus. so put aside your blind devotion to montage and just go where the snow is!
  2. yup, we've def skiied til close quite a few times....especially if it's not too terribly cold out by then.
  3. def was a great opening day! tinymoose and i showed up at 7am to boot up and make sure to get to the front of the line at the ticket window. i think i was #5 in line. jfskidan rolled in around 7:15. i was def impressed by the amount of snow blue was able to put down....although it was a bit grabby at times. barney's bumps was treat! shared a lift ride up with Dark Helmet towards mid-day.....seems like a cool dude. it def felt like the first day of school to see all the PASR's again. oh, and you know it's ski season when gss posts his most excellent TR's...... ski on my friends, ski on.
  4. dude, i'm published...lol. that reporter lady came by and hit us up while we were grabbing snacks at the bar.....
  5. will do.... i called up blue about that and complained. the nice lady on the phone said she would forward my comment to the management...but i think i may need to fill out a form lol....
  6. since we have to stand in line to get our lift tix....grrr....we'll be there around 7 am...and then i'll be standing line
  7. bringing some long trail sick day and dechutes fresh squeezed ipa's
  8. which row are we parking in? the second one?
  9. ditto...glad to save the gas and ski at blue.....
  10. 1600 ft vt vs 200 ft vert......um, i'd def drive the extra hour.
  11. I just plan to get there early.....def can get some turns in before it could get crazy.
  12. the last time we were there on opening day there were no gapers to be found......typical of early season skiing at most hills. that said, I do agree...hell gate isn't one of my fav runs either.....but, at least it's skiing and that's what I care about right now, lol.
  13. WROD = white ribbon of death
  14. hunter usually has hellgate and broadway open...if it's ttb they'll add in kenndy drive. it's all black/blue terrain. if they are open, we're planning to head up.
  15. food for thought.... http://allenbwest.com/2014/03/deceptive-fallacy-one-percent/
  16. that was a good weekend!
  17. besides what JL most awesomely put into words.....I like both WF and gore. we went to gore a couple of times last year an we love it there. def not crowded, but that's b/c it is in the middle of nowhere. gore def has legit terrain there.....def overlooked and underrated in my book. WF has lake placid, which is top notch. on a powder day, i'd say WF is probably the best mtn on the east coast. other than that, you had better sharpen your edges and know how to use them b/c WF is very exposed to the wind and the name "iceface" is very accurate. you can't go wrong with either. ORDA owns both mtns, so the lift tix are transferrable btwn WF and gore.
  18. get after it, yo!
  19. i hope that new trail is open for this winter. i also noticed they added a little beginner park between little gap and burma road.....

    Socks

smartwool lightwt and midwt merino blend wool socks (PHD socks, specifically). the wool does an awesome job keeping up with my nasty feet. plus, I like the feel of the merino wool blend. I have found them at tj maxx and marshalls for good prices. also, check out socksaddict.com. they have good prices as well.
  21. i'd second the vote for stowe....i'd also put sugarbush and smuggs in there as well.
  22. yes please!
  23. wait until gss graces your posts
