  1. that sucks....i think we're planning to hit up sugarbush in march (on our way home from stowe)....def hoping for things to pick up!
  2. people don't really "vacation" in scranton, lol...
  3. 1-26-14 Day 2 @ Gore Mtn: vicki, tinymoose, tinymooses' friend skisuki (from the skidiva), and i rolled into the base lodge around 8:15AM to grab some quick b-fast and boot up. jfskidan showed up around 8:30. tinymoose and skisuki headed off to their second day of the women's clinic while jfskidan, vicki, and i hit up the gondi and headed over to the top ridge triple area. first run of the day was on uncas....aka scary-ass skating rink. boiler plate ice and wind scoured man-made, steep and turny trail, and loads of people on it made for a harrowing first run of the day. we did not return to uncas again that day. vicki went back to lap the gondi (to wait for her hubby to arrive) and jfskidan and i went down to burn ridge mtn via showcase....nonstop 1929 ft legit vert and 3.5 miles later our legs were burning as we got onto the burnt ridge highspeed quad (def the best lift at gore mtn). echo def had the best snow all day....we didn't find any ice on it at all. sagamore was good as well, but a little crispy in spots. clocked myself at 48.1 mph on echo. we went in for a quick warmup around 10:45am, then we back up the gondi to the darkside (high peaks chair) to access the legit steeps. lies head wall was still a sheet of ice, but the skier's left was the place to be. below the headwall the snow on lies was great. we heade back to the base lodge for lunch and to meet up with tinymoose and the rest of our crew. open roast beef sandwich w/ fries was the lunch special....and that def hit the spot. we all headed up to the dark side again for a few laps. tinymoose's clinic didn't get to do too much steeps, so she was chompin' at the bit to huck a cliff or two. jfskidan, vicki and her dh checked out early. tinymoose, skisuki, and i spent the rest of the afternoon on burnt ridge until closing. all in all a good trip up to the dacks.
  4. ditto what ridgeracer and jfskidan said.....most excellent day on the mtn. tinymoose was in the womens clinic all day....worked on mad technical stuff. more in store tomorrow!
  5. we were there yesterday. ran a few nastar runs...that was fun..no metals for us though. they must have groomed boomer recently b/c the bumps on it were very tiny. white lightning was in great shape! i didn't find very much ice on it at all. the slopes were uncrowded, but the lodge was packed (as usual). we ended up getting the make-your-own smores for apres...good times.
  6. i use glide-on wax from slidewright.com. it's not expensive and works pretty well. the wax comes in differnt colors. i typicaly use the yellow for base prep, purple for typical mid-winter weather, and red for spring conditions.
  7. frost or montage for me...but i'll be at gore this coming weekend....mini-pasr invasion yo!
  8. the power went out right went we got to the mtn....had to wait 1.5 hrs before the lights were back on and the lifts were spinning again.
  9. personal responsibility: it's severely lacking these days...
  10. tinymoose did the 2 day women's clinic last year & she really liked it. they split up the group by ability levels. if she's interested, it's at the end of January
  11. they don't have a lot of capacity...so windham struggles to rebound from warmups...
  12. glad to hear the big ass bumps on WL survived the r**n
  13. no, lol...didn't see who was in that room.
  14. seriously...pounding the wall & everything...how rude more pics
  15. icy, fast, and furious. the rain sure did a number on the hill. ice, bare spots, and closed trails galore. loads of racer kids here today for good measure. we drove up yesterday, got to our lodging, and then hit up some suds at the cave mtn brewery in windham; excellent establishment. we headed back to the inn for the nite; however, we didn't get much sleep bc the room next door was involved in "athletic bedtime activities"....good for them, bad for us. here is a pic of the mtn that pretty much sums it up
  16. you had me a "polar vortex reappearance".....
  17. def wearing base layers in the office today.....
  18. yup, that's how we roll. we made it a full day b/c my buddy from state college got there close to mid-day anyhow. skied hard all day, paying for it today...lol.
  19. def glad I found this site a few yrs ago. all of the pasr peeps I've met are fun to ski and hang out with . thank you to atomicskier & the mod staff for making this community possible!
  20. we ended up leaving around 8pm. more and more peeps were checking in..but still the trails were not crowded. a lot of them were still inside (probably bc of the cold and wind). new pub is nice...good suds, upgraded menu. the led lights on the trails are ok, but there aren't nearly enough of them. loads and loads of pitch black areas on most trails....thinking about filling out a comment card.
  21. damn we missed out on the goods. we were afraid of the potential crowds, plus our friend from state college wasn't able to get in until 11:30. oh well...another time for sure!
  22. yup, pow bumps on boomer & white lightning. pic of lower fast track white lightning
  23. brisk and cold at montage. lodge is nice trails uncrowded, descent amount of pow left ungroomed. here's a pic of the upper mtn. will get some more pics soon.
  24. how are the lift lines? we ended up at montage and it's not crowded at all.
