  1. awesome. and might i add...
  2. it's not really hype....just the results of certain storm models. it would be hype if these guys were saying "hey, this is our official forecast....get your shovels ready". just do your snow dance and hope for the best
  3. hopefully this trends cold.....
  4. sweet pictures! thanks for sharing
  5. i saw report that stowe got 6" at top of gondy....that'll help a bit, if it's not windy of course
  6. so we're starting to think about how to pack for our aspen trip. what kind of weather/temps is/are typical for aspen the first week of march?
  7. never! it'll always be montage to me.... sweet.....it seems like they are running some pretty sweet weekly deals. $10 tuesdays, that's hard to beat. hey NMSKI, haven't had the chance to ski with you this season, hopefully we can change that! yeah, longhaul was open, thankfully. but, they were running it with loading restrictions. whitelightning was is excellent shape: soft snow, small bumps on skier's right, good sized bumps on skier's left. boomer wasn't skiing very well....snow was kinda wierd and choppy. smoke was skiing very nicely as well.
  8. Freshies....sort of. alarm went off at 5 am,there was abot 1/2in on the ground before we lift the house. packed the car and on the road by 5:45am....made it to the mtn by 7:45am. base area was very quite, not a lot of action. not a lot of fresh snow, i thought there would be more, but at least the $25 lift tickets were nice on the pocket book. we took the lift to the top do some warmup laps on the upper mtn and found the snow conditions to be better than i expected: mostly soft, but a few slick spots. on the third lap we ran into KCski and chatted for a second or two. we then headed down to the northface area, which was skiing very well. nastar peeps were running gates, so we went up to watch for a few. some very serious peeps, others not so much. we called it quits around noon and headed in for food and bev. in general, there were no crowds and i suppose that was b/c of the superbowl. it was nice to have no lift lines and wide open trails all to ourselves. good times had by all.

cold, fast, & icy.....that about sums it up. we got to the mtn a little after 7pm. busses and more busses, aparently it was HS ski club time as well. anyhow, tinymoose dropped off her new skis at the tune shop to get bindings mounted. while that was getting done, we had dinner at the trails end cafe. single chair and long trail were the brews of the night. we booted up, got the skis, and hit the slopes. I had waxed our skis the previous night, so they were nice and slick on the cold man-made. lapped timberline, grizzly, extreme, & sasquatch. everything was icy, except sasquatch. tinymoose's new skis, volkl kenjas 156cm, performed well. as she can attest, those skis, while 87mm underfoot, had very good edge grip on the hardpack. we packed it in around 9:45pm. good times as always.

  18. which bridge is that?
  19. well, it looks like bear creek still as some coverage (per their webcam).....it's prolly really slushy though.
  20. hopefully they'll be able to blow this weekend to recover, but the forecasted temps don't look all that cold.
  21. i only to in-person transactions, with cash, when buying anything on craigslist.
  22. hopefully they're still in decent shape by then.....unlike those on challenge. everyone kept on pounding them into really deep troughs and narrow ridges. no fun.
  23. nice! we're taking southwest out to denver next month....i'll def have to use that in-flight tracker.
  24. how fast do you drive?? the last time i checked it was a solid 3.5 hrs from the pokes to anywhere in the catskills.
