Glissading with -insert god of your choice-

awesome trip. i can't wait for next season. no pass for me this year. using the money for a split board. tired of paying for what my legs do just fine. that bit about your buddy is wild. those are the things that really make you stop and think. when i was at bridger with glenn we had a situation (much less consequential and scary). first person in the steep boot back blows a foot starts sliding and takes out the second. i saw them coming at me and thought we were done for. thankfully we hadn't strapped in our boards yet and i was able to slam mine down into the snow, braced hard and stopped them both. if they took me out we'd have slid for quite a ways and more then likely into something. again, not nearly as scary and odd as your situation, but i can relate. keep getting at it. seems like the ec has better snow then we do right now. -
Nestor's retiring, store to become 6th Buckman's location
nick malozzi replied to johnnypowder's topic in General Chat
wait, am i the only one? c-ya nestors. no skin off my back. i never liked the place anyway. they were always overpriced, and the staff i dealt with was typically pretty arrogant (not everyone, but the majority). never been to buckmans though, so no idea if it'll be for good or worse. -
The initial report I read from CIAC made it sound like it was in Highlands, but they've since clarified as well. The internet is great for fast information, but it isn't always 100% accurate. At any rate, it's one of MANY deaths this year that occurred just out of bounds. I know we have them every year, but it seems like a lot more this year than normal. Real shame. Vibes to the family/friends of the victim.
-
Correct... I worded that poorly. I meant 5 total people in the group involved with 1fatality. Thanks for clarifying.
-
Just saw there was a slide in the highlands. 5 confirmed victims and 1 confirmed fatality. Keep them in your thoughts.

I agree man, my point was... Unlimited funds and no restrictions I'd be dropping bucks on heli trips in Silverton over Aspen snobbery if my target was Colorado. However, my point was diluted by bullshit post deleting and attempts to make it look like I hated Aspen. Again, Aspen has dom sick terrain, but if I had a platinum card with daddy's name on it I'd find way better ways to rack up a balance.

Dude, read my posts. I know Aspen is legit. That's not at all my point.y point was for me I like to hike or whatever. That's part of the fin for me. So telluride with silverton in the mix is more for me. I'm stoked jeff got to Aspen so much. That place is made for him. It would all make more sense but jeff deleted multiple posts I made to make me look like a dick. Fuck it. I'm drunk in Denver about to go see trampled by turtles, going climbing in boulder canyon with my girl tomorrow, and having a party tomorrow night before hittin wp on Sunday. Jeffs just got Pasr to delete posts so he can look cool . Fuxk it

I'd agree with you except for the fact that I wasn't comparing anything. However, Aspen is like Jackson on PASR. You even slightly cross those who are fanboys of the two and you get a shit storm of bullshit tossed at you. People, reread the damn thread. The only reason it was brought up was because I was responding to JiveTurkey since he was saying it's dumb to fly to Aspen. I've met the dude, and skied with him a handful of times out here. I know that he'd never go to Aspen, and I wouldn't either. Nothing wrong with Aspen. It's just not the type of mountain either of us would hit on an extended trip. I'd rather head to Telluride/Silverton if I had the coin so I could hop on the heli at Silverton, and enjoy the (from what I'm told) nearly empty telluride. If not that... Steamboat. I don't dislike Aspen, I've just got other shit I'd rather do. Get over it and stop bitching, if you had fun there then who cares. Keep going and enjoy it.

What is so negative about that? Why not quote the parts of my posts where I sad I was glad Jeff has been to Aspen so much this year? I'm stoked for him. You all get so butt hurt when someone slightly disagrees with you, then tell me to enjoy life. Seems like you need to take a deep breathe. I love my life. I love my job, make more money than I planned on making at my age. Have a great girlfriend, a dog, and plenty of toys that keep me out playing in the Rocky Mountains every weekend. So what am I doing wrong exactly?
-
Mainly because Silverton isn't far. I'd hit both if I was going for an extended trip.
-
Reading comprehension is not your strong point apparently. Reread my posts. I clearly state that I am aware that Aspen has great terrain, and is a great mountain. I wasn't comparing the two in any way. I was simply stating that IF IT WAS ME and I WAS planning a trip to CO with unlimited funds Aspen would not be my choice. That is all, quit trying to make more of it.
-
I've never been, It's too far for a typical weekend trip from the front range. I can't take a million days off all the time. So I'm a little more limited to what is closer, or I take a big trip. This year the big trip was Montana. I'll be in telluride in june though for the bluegrass festival if that counts for anything.
-
Wait, someone want to tell me why Jackson was even mentioned? Anyway, all I meant is if I was looking to book a trip in COLORADO for a bunch days and I lived on the east I wouldn't waste my time with Aspen. I'd fly into steamboat if I wanted more of a resort style trip, or Telluride/Silverton if I wanted a more BC style trip. I know there's good shot in Aspen, but in MY opinion its not where I'd spend my hard earned dollars. I think its great Jeffs getting to Aspen so much. The resort is basicly made for dudes like him. Far enough of 70 to keep most people away, but easy access via the airport if you've got the silver spoon. Pretty awesome terrain that requires very little actual effort. Wine, overpriced food, and all that kind of stuff. So props to jeff for getting there so much.

Back it up there Jeffy. I wasn't ragging on the place. I know it's good, but no I haven't made it there yet. Anything short of a free pass and I prolly won't head there either. Not really my kinda crowd, and to far to drive for most weekend day trips. My point wasn't to bash Aspen. My point was if I was to have unlimited funds and live on the east coast (like yourself), I'd go bigger, and get away from the snobbery. However, I know that's your cup of teabag, and for that Aspen is the titties. So glad you got there a lot this season. Speaking of titties... was your 5min Aspen - Denver flight on this airline? I'm really trying to figure out who this airline is, any help is appreciated:
-
fyi: i know what a tv is, i'm not vegan, and i don't live in boulder (anymore). helmets ftw
-
in the end though i'd doubt you'd even waste time in aspen if you made a trip out here. at least if it was me i wouldn't want to waste the time and money to fly out here for anything but telluride/silverton or maybe a week at steamboat. not saying aspen has shit terrain, but it ain't worth the coin if i was planing a trip from the ice coast.
-
Seen it? Fucking been there. Shit is real holmes:
-
I thought they banned filming movie/tv shows in aspen.
-
This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, a lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head.
-
Helmets are just like condoms, man. It all depends the type of condom and how you use it. If you're going balls deep with a lamb skin on a dry dead hooker... you're prolly gonna catch something.
-
and i'm at the office looking out the window at blue skys thinking about going for a bike ride after work* keep getting at it! *reasons i love living in colorado

That's $40 more than my season pass which included 1 free lift ticket to steamboat, wp, and copper to give out to friends.
