  1. When exactly you going to be out there again? Glenn and I are thinking we may make the trip out to ride with you guys, as well as DH and another buddy. Sorry to thread jack.
  2. i should be up this weekend... and the locals are correct, coverage sucks right now, trust me.
  3. It's all give and take... I ride less days then I did on the east coast, but when I ride I'm on better terrain and having way more fun then I did back home. The bonus for me out here is I'm also a climber and kayaker, and I have great access to that as well. This area really favors people like me who like to be a "jack of all trades". I'm not sick at any of my hobbies, because I don't have enough time to devote myself fully to any of them, but I'm cool with that. I like the variety, and I love beer. So this is the spot for me, and it's why I'm in the market to buy a house. I miss my family a lot, but in all honesty there was no way in hell I was going to stay in the Lehigh Valley and be happy. I would have ended up going north... so in the long run I wouldn't get to see them all that more often then I do now. I always encourage anyone to make the trek if they think it is what is right for them. It was a lot of work, and took a lot of money and effort to get where I am today... but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Every time I feel my board floating through some pow, I'm topping out a climb, or setting up for something in my kayak I just think how lucky I am to be out here doing what I love to do as often as I see fit. It certainly isn't for everyone, I have friends who came out before and after me, and I'm now watching a handful of them pack up and head back. Other's are planning wedding, or like me buying homes. I also have friends back home that talked a big game (and still are talking) in terms of moving west, and they are still sitting back home with their thumbs up their asses telling me how they wish they could. Never realizing that they can at any point, but don't have the balls. Moral of the story, if you think it is for you... just get off your ass and make it happen. The worst thing that can happen is you turn around and head back after a few months/years. At least if that's the case you come back with some great stories and the knowledge that you tried.
  4. Anybody have a visual on NYC? I was supposed to fly Denver to Philly, but my Philly flight got cancelled. Picked up a flight into Laguardia that lands at 10pm. How's it looking up that way?
  5. Looks like the helmets are selling super fast. Get on it if you want one.
  6. RED Helmets just went on sale... LOTS of styles, and really cheap. If you haven't logged in yet now would be a good time. Here is the Invite again: http://www.theclymb.com/invite-from/NickMalozzi
  7. Nice... if all goes as planned I'll be building or buying a trailer this spring for my new raft and frame (like I said, if all goes well). I already have the warming hut in the back of my truck, so the trailer will be gear only in my case. Hope yours works out!
  8. The Zeal sale just came to an end. The Mountainsmith sale starts soon. There is a countdown timer at the top of the page.
  9. I only get it if the people I invite actually buy something. So I'm not really expecting to get much out of that, but if people can get some cheap gear then I've helped. The 10 bones certainly can't hurt though.
  10. Well done Moe, this is the type of stuff I like to see. With up state new york and vt so close, it kills me that more PASRs aren't getting at the backpacking and skiing. Well done indeed.

    The Clymb

Hey, I just got invited to join The Clymb. It is a gear site that is by invite only. I don't know if any of you are familiar with the site Gilt, but I think it is similar. Basically, the deal is you have to get invited to be able to get in. Once in you gain access to gear at 50-75% off. It is one brand at a time for a few days. Right now they are selling Zeal Optics at 60% off. So it would be a good way to score some sweet goggles or sunglasses on the cheap. Past companies have been Outdoor Research and Suunto. Up next is Mountainsmith. Seems like a pretty sweet set up if something comes up that you need. Little nicer then Steep and Cheap and the other daily deals, because the announce in advance what will be up in the upcoming sales events (just check the blog to find out what's on deck). So far, I haven't gotten any spam or anything of that nature. So they seem pretty legit for those of you afraid of creating an account. At any rate, here is an invite for all PASR member from me in case you are interested. Hope you guys can pick up so cheap shwag: The Clymb Invite
  12. i dunno what your trying to get after, but if i was in college going on spring break i'd be headed towards summit county. it's still going to be a sausage fest, but at least there is plenty of music and booze within walking distance to the lifts in the am. just sayin.
  13. Oh I wasn't ragging on you man. I'm glad someone is getting at it. Spending all day everyday in the park though isn't my thing, especially when I'd have to take off work (with exception to weekends). Props for killing it with the bum lifestyle, or however you're getting it done. Like I said, wasn't giving you shit just stating I wouldn't be all that stoked on that pic personally. However, your new here so everything is probably giving you wood. I'll reserve my CO>PA posts for when I've got pics and vid where body parts start to get lost in the pow. drool... we fucking need snow, bad.
  14. i dunno man, i've been looking for a way to get my dubs on lock, and this is the first mention of how i could achieve that lofty goal.
  15. No problem... should only take 2 or three to have you on the floor out here. I just hope you understand the exact opposite will be true for me, I'm acclimated... and pretty much an alcoholic, haha. edit: oh, and i don't need your pity. i took a huge chance moving 2500mi from home to live where I wanted to live, and then an even bigger chance moving my girlfriend out here as well. i'm not upset that i didn't get out much last year. i think i got 15 days, and i'm stoked about that considering my gf up and moved out on me at the beginning of the season. leaving me with doubled expenses, and needing to sell a car. little under a year later and I'm still here thriving in a nicer place, and ready to ride once the snow gets here. the fun for me is in the trees though. i'd rather save the gas and be ready to roll when we get snow. over crowded groomers and terrain parks aren't my cup of tea. glad other's are getting at it though.
  16. You know I had financial troubles last year. So I'm not sure what you get out of constantly telling me I don't ride enough. Things are shaping up for a better season as I actually have a pass this year, but who knows. It looks like I might be buying a house soon. So that may slow me down a bit. Either way, enjoy Blue Mountain.
  17. I'm def a fan of quality over quantity, but whatever floats your boat man.
  18. I just straight up won't have the time or loot to do that before the holidays. Sorry.
  19. Sick man, I fucking love Umphrey's... saw them at Red Rocks last summer. It was epic. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. Maybe I'll try to hit the Denver show. I know Glenn digs Umphrey's as well. So maybe we could all meet up for a drink or something before the show. Sorry I don't have any advice for you, but I've never been to Aspen or Snowmas, and I'm not just about to spout second hand info at you. Good luck with the planning.
  20. it seems odd to me that some of the most intelligent birds out there wouldn't be smart enough to fly a little higher or around the turbine. and the reading i've done (albeit it wasn't much) talked about how that is typically the case. are some going to die, sure, but i'd bet the bird population will be better off in the long run if wind farms can reduce the pollution we pump into the air they fly through.
  21. from what i have read about wind turbines it sounds like the bird excuse is bunk.
  22. HE ALREADY BOUGHT PANTS.
  23. Watch more then 5 seconds and it makes a lot more sense. It's not your average half pipe.
