Last time I was there I drove up the back side out of Pavia through blue knob state park, I didn't think I was going to make it around one steep, slippery, tight hairpin corner near the top.
  7. They were tollhouse cookies with m&m's in them, just like mom used to make. Agree

  9. Opening weekend is always crowded, but everyone is so happy to be on the hill again that it is like a snow filled love fest. If you know what a European delivered BMW looks like.

Blue knob has great terrain especially the bowl, but it can be as icy as a popsicle unless there is good snow. I think it is run by the state.

Elk is a little over hyped, their tree skiing policy is out of touch, but it is worth a trip on discount days to break up the monotony. Elk has the potential to be great, it just needs new ownership that wants to bring it up to date.
  13. Great picture. Sent my ski addiction into overdrive.
  14. I believe they dug up the same spot last year.

    okemo

Been invited on a trip to okemo, I've never been there, have heard several people say they really like it. The trail map shows quite a few tree trails. Hope it's not too flat.

  21. mmmmmm pizza
  22. I started skiing on a local hill known as Bell Mountain just south of Lambertville New Jersey. I think the vert was around150 if that, lift pass was a couple dollars. Three trails if you count bunny slopes, there was one chair lift and a rope tow to the top. The rope tow zoomed you to the top almost as fast as you could ski back down. If you didn't get the rope tow technique right it would yank your gloves off and pull you out of your skis. At the bottom was a wall with hay bales in front to stop errant skiers from going out on the road, watched more than one skier hit it. The parking lot was right across the road so you could sit in your car and watch the skiers. On nights we didn't ski we would sit out there with beer and weed and have a good ole time watching people wipeout. Good old days, miss them.
