  1. No one i work with cares about this crap so maybe you guys would like to see some snowy photos. A friend of mine was staying a week at smuggs and invited me up. The only catch was that I only had one day off, which meant a day trip was in order. Lucky for me I love to drive. I left southern jersey around midnight-ish, and pushed north with a phone full of podcasts. I made great time, except for when I realized google maps was going to try and take me through the notch. Not being familiar with the Lake champlain area, maps ended up trying to get me on a ferry, which doesn't run when the lake is frozen over. Thanks Obama. I got around the lake, got through burlington, and continued on. I got to smuggs around sunrise, and took a long nap. Met up with my friend for first chair. The chairs were super old and super slow, but it was all good. The snow was great. We played in doc's glades for a few hours to warm up, than decided to do some hiking. We caught a left off the top of sterling, and had a quick safety meeting. A few moments later we were staring down some amazing powder filled, pretty wide open chutes. Rode until right before close. I took another nap in my car, maybe a few hours, than drove home. Smuggs is fantastic but they need at least one high speed lift. The vert is tall, and the lifts a tad too long. It felt like we didnt get many runs in because of that. However, the off trail stuff at smuggs is pretty epic.
  2. Once I stayed overnight at bear creek with some friends and a group. Free tubing tickets. Never tuned, so I why the hell not. The runs were icy as hell and almost every person went into the net. Reading the details, i can see why and how this played out as it did.

  4. I went. It was fun. Good snow. Not much on west side open though. I haven't been since 2005 so it was cool to go back. The place definitely felt smaller than I remember. It sucks that they can't follow through with their old expansion plans as the place could be huge if the government would allow that land swap. That's my feeling on the Catskills in general. The mountains are huge and they are so close to nyc, I can't believe none of the larger mountains were developed. (Yes I know bearpen sort of was). Clouds started to roll in which turned to rain. On the road out I decided to check out kaaterskill falls, which was borderline stupid since the trail was sheer ice. Somehow it was warmer in the Catskills than the Poconos and north jersey, as the temperature dropped and snow started as soon as I crossed the border, and mountain creek reported a powder day.

  5. Makes sense. I just wish they would have addressed the issue at hand (stop lying). I always complemented them before making a statement about the lift
  6. Noticed today montage blocked me on Instagram. I assume it is because I keep asking about the long haul when they claim all lifts and trails open. I recommend this place to everyone. Too bad.
  7. All this timberline talk... The old timberline trail was awesome. I miss it dearly.
  8. longest trail-9miles. wtf.
  9. I went a few years ago. Had it on the same card, stayed for a few hours then went elsewhere. cool to stop by if you have never been.
  10. just got an email its 20 dollar tuesdays. still a great deal.
  11. the cabriolet only exists since it was supposed to transport golfers to a mountain top course. Intrawest bailed now you have the resort as is.
  12. No updates to the lower lodge?
  13. the forecast after this weekend looks like complete shit.,
  14. There are hotels and restaurants at the base. Place is basically in the city. Word is spreading though. I pretty much tell everyone to go there when i hear them complain about blue or camelback. I hope they get a big cash influx sometime soon so they can legit do something about the long haul. I hate taking two lifts.
  15. That superpipe wrecked me. Cant wait for opening. I love being able to park right next to the lift. Hopefully long haul actually works this season.

  18. It's principle. Now I can't spend all day if I wanted, but can everywhere else.
  19. Nah not that one. Old defunct area in south jersey. Im getting sued so I can't really spend money so I have to hike for turns this year.

Such a waste of all that snow to not let anyone in the trees. Fuck that place. Why anyone would drive there for less is beyond me. Edit:Im basically coming from philly, so if I was to drive to elk I would Just stop at Montage. Or go further.
  23. Whatever. Would be cool for the state to gain a ski area though. http://triblive.com/neighborhoods/yourligonier/7099503-74/state-approved-project#axzz3It95OjVc
