Wow. That surprised me.

I had a 2005 NS evo, and even though i loved it, as you said it was pretty damn heavy. I went into EMS (gotta love the student discount) a few weeks ago and played around with this years evo, and its lighter than my rome artifact, and i nice mid-flex, so I bought it. Im pretty stoked on riding a NS again as well, and if i can get some money together i may get an SL sometime after christmas as well. For bindings i picked up some union contact pro's, which feel pretty legit.

I am assuming the state run ski areas (Gore, teh face, and Bell) have budgets set aside for snowmaking. So its not like they are continuously sucking money from the state each time they blow. lol I said suck and blow in the same sentence.

Got my pass back in april. Earlybird student FTW.

Higher Education Pass - College Pass
rgrwilco replied to Switchsideskier.'s topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
^Generally speaking, mommy and daddy usually pay for kids stuff in high school. usually, college kids are balancing working and paying bills. i know that's not true across the board, but its mostly true. i work 14 hours a week, i cannot work anymore due to course load, and still have to pay car insurance/car payment. the discounted pass helps a lot (from mountains that will sell me one anyway, thanks for a lame policy jfbb) -
Higher Education Pass - College Pass

i wish i could take advantage of this, but my school will not give me my damn proof of enrollment. its been lost in the mail twice already (or so they say). kudos to boulder for having a lame policy. a dated printout of my schedule from the same week im buying the pass and college ID should be enough. Lame. at least blue hooked me up with their college pass despite me turning 23 halfway through the summer. -
belleayre is owned by the state, correct? I though they usually made snow fairly early, could be wrong.
-
killington is making snow as i type this. edit: just shut them off. looks like they made snow for a good amount of time. with the natural on the ground, i guess its a good base to start blowing on.
-
agreed. i demo'd one last year and it was awesome though, a lot different than artifacts used to be.

looking to get something bigger, not feeling a lot of park riding this season. go for 390 new, ill take 350 shipped wherever or pickup.

snowed at snowshoe. no accumulation though. http://snowboarding.transworld.net/1000134586/news/first-snowfall-of-the-season-at-snowshoe-mountain/

that policy has been around since 07 as far as i know. im really bummed, i wanted a college pass for early/late season when blue is closed, but my school seriously keeps saying they mailed my proof paper thingy, and i still havent got one after 5 different requests. end threadjack.
-
rumor has it that you can still get the pass if you complain about it at the student price/do some sweet talkin'. I love how camelback just requires proof that you registered/i.d. fkn jfbb needs to change their policy. i have been trying to get a damn proof of enrollment with raised seal since jfbb announced their college pass, and my school is trying their hardest not to give me one. seriously, if i can show like 5 different things that prove im a full time student i think that should waive needing a special letter.

Higher Education Pass - College Pass

ive got a pass to blue this season, but for 299, this thing would pay itself off even if i just used it for vt trips and before and after blue closes. im pretty stoked on this. -

wow. thats cheap as hell. seeing as i plan on hitting mt snow twice, thats basically a third of the cost right there. -
i dont know if anyones been paying attention to killington, but they constructed upper mountain walkways off of the gondola into the north ridge area, so temps for snowmaking at the base aren't necessary to open http://www.killington.com/winter/beast/blog/authors/tom/early-season-insurance

looks fun. hoping the first phase is ready by march.

N.J. Senate approves bills requiring ski helmets
rgrwilco replied to RootDKJ's topic in General Chat
So wait, Republicans who want the government to stay out of their business want them to get into everyone's business and force them to wear helmets? lol -
elks terrain is really fun. some really long and interesting trails, but for me to get a season pass there, they need to open up some woods. i know its beating a dead horse, but seriously. if they get so much more snow than other PA resorts, show that off and open some damn woods.
-
i think the difficulty of getting expansions approved are holding some back, as well as the cost of additional snowmaking. also, where to expand may be an issue. bear creek, for example, does not have anywhere to expand to, and i think the same could be said for boulder. Frost looks like they have a bit of room for some really steep stuff past east mountain, but not much before it levels out. elk being a single peak, i do not really see that happening. blue and camelback would probobly be the most likely to expand, as they draw large crowds. but with the topography of PA areas, i really don't see expansions being viable. they would just add cost, and would be more of the same type of skiing and riding already in place.

is that an 07'? picked me up the same car in march. its a lot of fun!

i got a ton of financial aid last semester, so i used it to live on campus in camden. I had no idea sno cove had a tornado slide. those things are pretty insane if you get 4 people in a tube. ill have to check it out in a few weeks.

boots were lightly used as you can see. Binders are brand new looking for around 80 for the boots, 100 for the bindings. shipping is free of course!

its crazy how much of everything you can see that far north. driving back from montreal i was able to see whiteface from just outside the city, stowe, mt washington, and whiteface at the same time from 87. i can barely see philly from my house and its only 3 miles as the crow flies
