  1. i know some girls that ride. ill ask them if they are interested in the ivy.
  2. wednesday
  3. screw it im goin. just doesnt seem worth the gas, but its a day on the snow so whatevs
  4. beat. i need to learn how to ride bumps well enough to enjoy them.
  5. that stuff looks mad cheaper then snowflex. and from the looks of it, you could definately groom over it.
  6. but i figure by next week that the amount of runs open will decrease drastically, and probobly superstar and a few others will be the only runs open with only the superstar lift, thats how its been almost every may in the past few years. i hope im wrong though. i probobly wont go though unless i can find someone to come or there will be people from pasr up there.
  7. i had a pa system on my car so i would just yell at them when that happened.
  8. you can ski more hours then you drive. when i take my trips, i leave at 1 am, get there around seven, grab breakfast, ski from open to close, drive back and get home around 10. i was thinking about heading up next week on wednesday, but i think there are only bump runs open, and i am not too good at bumps, and wouldnt want to drive all that way just for them.
  9. i decided i needed one more day on the snow, and woke up at 5 am to hit the road. for some reason i grabbed my artifact by accident, and did not realize this until about halfway to new york. at this point i was farely certain my day was going to suck. i love that board, but it does not ride well on anything steep or at high speeds at all. i managed to miss all traffic, and arrived at belleayre at around 9 oclock(i took a wrong turn, which ruined my usual 3 hour drive time to the catskills). uppon arriving to catskill park, i noticed that all of the mountains had alot of snow at the summit. pulling up to bell, the summit was masked in clouds. there was only one lift running when i arrived, so i could not hit anything on the west side of the mountain since i was not in the mood for the hike. atop at the summit, it was surreal. there was so much new snow, and there were horizontal icicles on the lift poles from the wind. the high speed was closed, but there were some dudes working hard to get the ice off of the lines(there was ton of it. definately not a camelback esque excuse.) the views into catskill park were also pretty nice. after a few runs down, me and my boy found a small cliff drop on the side of onedgonga(sp) trail?. it was maybe 15 feet, maybe more as it seemed much bigger then the drop at bear creek. it required quite a hike up the side through alot of brush. all the time ice was falling off the trees onto my head. this was my first real sized cliff, and i know it was bigger then bears because i got that feeling in my stomach like you get on roller coasters. so much fun. of course my boy screwed up on recording it. the snow on lower mountain was a little to slushy, so i had to stick on groomed trails down there. they eventually opened the high speed quad, and that lift is damn fast on the way home, my gps got me lost. i ended up driving past slide mountain and then lost the gps signal. almost dirt mountain roads for miles, and a really clean looking river made for some interesting photos. overall, a very fun day. it was my boys first time on a snowboard, and he got the hang of it on his first run. belleayre is a really cool place, and i got 2 free tickets for next early season from the BOGO special. suhweet.
  10. i can do explosives. shit now the government is gonna be on my like white on rice.
  11. i do the trip every year when killington opens early season. its not bad at all. just get out at every rest stop on the way home walk around for a few minuits and its fine.
  12. that would be pretty sick. ive never had a bad day at hunter. im real interested in the backcountry in the area, especially after talking to locals at belleayre this week.
  13. i want to go, but i dont think i can ride. i worked my hip pretty bad at belleayre on wednesday, and woke up in alot of pain today. i may have to go into surgery again in june. hopefully my hip feels good enough by may day to ride. if not ill just get hammered and watch.
  14. incredible. ill post a trip report later with pictures. it was midwinter pretty much. all the off trail stuff was very much rideable. dropped my first decent size drop ever. the only bad thing were the mashed potatoes on the ungroomed lower trails
  15. totally agree. i see people overshoot landings all the time, especially this season in bears black bear park. im gonna go into a beginner park somewhere and overshoot a 10 foot table so i break my arm and sue. america pisses me off. in canada judges through out stupid shit like this. dont get me wrong, i completely feel for the dude, and im not trying to be insensitive, im just speaking my opinion on the situation. what happens sucks big floppy donkey parts, but terrain parks are not safe. there are signs that say injury or death can occur. if his death was the cause of another skier or boarder in some way, then a lawsuit agains the person is reasonable. papasteeze, i did look at his myspace. i felt bad and still do, but as i looked further not as much. especially when i saw the "make sure this doesnt happen to someone else tidbit". christopher reeve didnt call for certain horses to be deemed unridable or anything like that.
  16. hiking is very fun. the chic chocs do hold thier snow for long periods of time, i saw them in a meatheads film, i forget which one. but i have a feeling that yesterday at belleayre was my last day of the season. east skiing will go until killington closes.
  17. id like to go watch them blow some shiite up.
  18. even though bear was my home mountain, i voted for boulder. being biased in a poll is stupid. boulders park was much better then bears, was mantained more consistantly, and was very progression friendly. i did however like the vibe at bear better then boulders. hard to explain, everyone just seemed friendlier at bear than bb.
  19. there is a market. theres a market for expansion of the current areas also, but theres a law called the forever wild clause that prevents pretty much all development
  20. yeah, the drive through the valley is always an awesome one. i just wish a resort would take initiative to take advantage of the terrain the catskills really have.
  21. park is overrated anyway. force your friend to try skiing, tell him you dont want to be seen with him and his gayblades and maybe you can convert him. but i heard you cant turn gays straight. oh well it would be a good day for him to learn in all seriousness, since its the end of the season, good conditions, ect.
  22. about a coating of snowat my home in south jersey, and there was actually more on my campus which is about 20 miles south of that.
  23. anyone heading up midweek?
  24. i believe there were plans in place to make the true summit of hunter mountain as part of the resort. check this out. http://www.pbase.com/michaeltokyo/hunter_m...in_secret_trail also, a guy at my local shop was telling me that a hike to the true summit leads to amazing tree runs that always have alot of snow since hunter sits in a bowl.
