Making Turns

Making Turns (3/10)

  1. was up yesterday and it was a great day. conditions were really good... mostly packed powder, some actual loose snow on seneca. a few of the trails were closed (lehigh, iriquois, tunkasomething) and chippewa's bumps were unrideable (for me), they were crusty ice. but everything else was great. no crowd, i think there was one time that we didn't ride straight into the lift all day. also they have a really awesome chicken sandwich.
  2. ok, i'm glad someone said this. cause it's what i was thinking at the end of the season. and i know park crew works their asses off and does a great job, so i don't want to sound like i'm bitching, but i feel like there's not many options put out for those of us who are beyond the 'family park' but don't want to go huge either. i know bear's got limited space to work with, so it's smart to max out on everything in the park, that's why people go there. but yeah, i feel like there could be a little more love for us intermediate park riders.

    why...?

Just curious for opinions, why do people rip on mountain creek so much? why does it have such a bad rep that there are so many posts here asking if it's 'really bad', or 'still that bad'? granted, i've only ever been there once and it was like 2-3 years ago, but i had a great time and a great experience. i was planning on heading up this weekend to check out the girls' park class and just wondering why it consistently gets knocked on this board. and, sidebar, how is the mtn holding up toward the end of the season? thanks
  4. oh. i don't like this one bit.
  5. soooo.... how's the rest of bear looking? anyone have anything to report on the F chair side of things? is it one big sheet of ice?
  6. i thought it became more decent as the evening grew colder. definitely sticky earlier in the evening. i would guess that all the 'slow' signs were for the benefit of the hot mess of a jeans-wearing crowd that presidents' day weekend usually attracts, because they haven't been there at all so far this season.
  7. sounds great, i'm totally in. although you can't register on the website, and mountain creek staff keeps insisting that the only dates were 2/7-2/8 even though all the other dates are listed on the site. ah well. i'll try again tomorrow.
  8. this sounds awesome... what was the average age-ish of attendees this weekend? (just want to be mentally prepared if i'm going to be the only person over 18) thanks!
  9. there ya go. that's what i meant.
  10. i'd also like to propose that all the kids who boardslide slowly down extreme and grizzly, leaving a snail trail of ice in their wake, be set on fire.
  11. conditions were really good. everything over by the f chair is in really good shape, it's all soft and loose. even as it got later and colder, when things usually start to really stiffen up, the riding was still really decent. it was a good night.
  12. i don't know. i keep hoping they will, (act), and year after year nothing happens. it's frustrating. i love bear and it's a great location for philly area people but i'm seriously thinking next year i'm getting a pass at blue, i'm just tired of year after year seeing so many people ride like complete idiots and nothing being done about it. and i'm not talking silly, spazzy things that happen when people are learning, because we've all been there at some point, but there's just too many damn idiots riding who have no control, no skills, no park or mountain etiquette, and if i ever get hurt because of one of them, it will be impossible to stop me from hurting them back myself, since no one else on the mountain seems to give a shit.
  13. i've never gone anywhere else, but i've also never had a bad experience there. i've only ever gotten maintenance work done, but they've always been good/quick/reasonable/pleasant.
  14. i left denver yesterday morning and it was 5 degrees and snowing. i tried so hard to bring it back with me, i really did. i stepped out of the philly airport last night and realized i didn't need my coat. for a second i thought it was nice. then i remembered that this was in fact, very very bad. sigh.
