  1. ha! i'm a chick. maybe i'll just use that line anyway.
  2. that's what i had been doing too for a few years, and finally last year i felt like it was time to be legit and get the regular pass... then since like saurus said, i got scanned twice last season after dropping the extra money (going like 2-3 times a week the whole season). so it's back to offpeak with me. i saw a kid at blue get his weekday-only pass just get taken away when he tried to use it on a weekend.... but they're not so hardass at bear, right?
  3. so. last year i got a full pass and decided to downgrade to off-peak this year since last year i only ever really went after work, and later on the weekends. my question is, does bear offer a way to 'upgrade' should i want to go early one weekend or something? like, i've already got my off-peak pass, so i don't want to buy a full lift ticket should i want to show up at like 10 on a saturday. do you guys do anything like that? thanks
  4. AWESOME. thanks. is there a date we need to order by?
  5. crappy pattern printed jackets piss me off too. trends in general piss me off because they're usually embarrassing and heinous. mostly i'm just mad cause i've been rocking the same coat for about 6 years now, because i have yet to find anything i want to spend my money on... i keep thinking, next year, but then the stuff that comes out is uglier than the year before. damn it, i just want to do what i do and look good doing it.
  6. meh. i'm with burton. i just want to ride. if i really feel like i need a photo of myself doing something, my sister can do it and that's that. the park can become so frustrating so fast on crowded weekends without giving people one more reason to stand around pretending they're going to do something, screwing with the slow. and taking photos plus being a park ranger is a lot to put on someone, task-wise and liability-wise.
  7. since i'm considering yesterday the end of the season (living in Philly and working a 9-5, i can't really take advantage of the hike park but it's awesome that that's happening)... i'm kicking off an end-of-season appreciation favorite things thread. i've had a pass at bear for the past 3 years and each year they're getting better and better. this season especially i was really pleased... given the crazy weather and endless stupid rain, i was totally braced for an early close, and you guys pushed it even longer than my friends and i had hoped for. and what you did to timberline at the end was so much fun, i loved it. thanks again, can't wait to see what you do next year.
  8. thank you. i have been operating under the theory that the people who complain on this board so much are so miserable mostly because they can't legally buy their own beer yet. all in all, i think it was a great season and that bear did a great job. and i think it's awesome that they're giving the hike park a go, and i hope it works out well for them.
  9. ...and if they don't get more money, and continually operate at a loss, eventually they'll cease to operate. they're not running a charity, they're running a business. and if business fails, that's the end of it all. and maybe they didn't blow last night because they didn't want to blow in freakin' 50-mile-an-hour gusts, two days before shutting down. why is this the most negative forum on this whole board?
  10. today was awesome. and the promo? awesome. and totally worked. i'd never been, but i'll definitely be back.

soooo.... i should NOT go to camel on my sick day tomorrow? never been, so i don't know what to expect... and free or not, i don't know if i want to hike all the way up there for like 4 trails.
  12. awwwwww yeah. i'm so going tomorrow. i bet i will be 9,999,999.
  13. i agree. aside from the fact that, yeah, i'm just happy they've stayed open this long and it's awesome they're trying the hike park, the more you bitch, the more you lessen the chance anyone is going to listen to anything you have to say, no matter how valid. and the more you bitch while throwing insults and defensive bullsh*t like a petulant child, the more people cease to care about what you think. i give two big ass thumbs up to bear for a great season despite the spastic weather, awesome service at the shop, and all of everyone's hard work. i'm sad it's almost over, but it's been fun.
  14. look at it this way... they're trying something new. and they're going into it with a plan. every year they've been trying something new, and it's a trial and error procedure. right now they're doing what makes the most sense to them given what they have to work with. last year they didn't have a hike park. this year they're going to have one with limited hours. who knows what will happen next year? until then, hey, skip a class or something. i'm already feeling a sick day coming on for tomorrow that only getting out and riding will cure...
  15. whee!
  16. if that's the case, i've seen plenty of that on skis this season.the lifts at bear provide ample time for watching parents destroy the experience for their kids. how are conditions at CB holding up? is it worth a trip up on thursday? i've never been, and the trail maps don't seem to be working no matter what browser i use... what can i expect? my only reservation is that i've heard them plug themselves as 'beginner-friendly' a lot, which is great, but i don't want to get bored, it's a bit of a haul for me... and is their base disappearing? i definitely don't mind slush, but i want to know if i should bring my new board or my old one that's already a scratched-up mess.... thanks!
  17. awesome. i'm totally hitting CB this week... never been, so this is a great promo. definitely feeling a sick day coming on.... *cough, cough*
  18. TATER TOTS burritos guiness on tap (for strength)
  19. i guess everywhere is closing around the same time. ah well. we got a lot more out of this season than i would have guessed from the weather a few weeks ago. conditions tonight were a lot better than i expected. soft, but fast. and the setup in timberline is way fun.
  20. i'm there tonight as long as it's not downpouring.
  21. oh... i totally selfishly hope they can stay open past easter sunday.... cause i don't want to have to decide between bear and blue that saturday!
  22. that's awesome. they've been doing a really great job this year considering how psycho the weather has been... can't wait to trek up tomorrow (rain schmain).
  23. was anyone there last night/today? how is it? coverage looked so/so on the webcam yesterday...
  24. you by far have the worst attitude of anyone i've encountered on here. we're entering mid march and despite some of the assiest and most inconsistent weather i can remember, bear's staying open and giving us somewhere to ride. at this rate it looks like they're going to outlast blue this season. quit your bitchy bitching, be glad you have functioning legs, $$ to get a board and a car to get you there, and just enjoy it. the worst day of riding is still better than the best day at work, school, or anything that's not playing outside. i hope for your sake you can learn to be more positive, cause being miserable and complaining all the time is a sad way to go through life. end speech. so, how is it looking out there for tonight? did they blow last night?
