....aaaaaaaaaaaaand this post has officially gone off the rails. hey, who's heading out tonight? it's gonna be cold as balls.

meh. cause i'm in this weird middle ground where i am pretty much good to move up and on from the "beginner" park, but am concerned about being That Person who wipes out constantly, irritating everyone in the other parks. is blackbear like the next step up? having said that, why would the race team go through the park at all? some of those kids are tiny. sounds like a recipe for a lawsuit.

ugh. i can't STAND those people. last week i was waiting for a kid to clear that little box in the family park, then started to cruise in when these three little girls on skis swerved in front of me and then proceeded to stop directly in front of the box, step onto it, and then stand there yelling "I'M RIDING THE PARK! I'M RIDING THE PARK!!!" while i dumped on my ass coming to a sharp stop to avoid mowing them down. kids do silly things not meaning any harm, whateva, but when i realised their mother was standing behind me, chuckling, and then said to me "they don't really understand the concept of lines", i saw RED red. like you see your kids doing something stupid and potentially dangerous, let alone rude, and it's cute and funny? i managed to spit out "then someone needs to teach them" before taking off. i know that resorts need the "we come out once, maybe twice a year and don't bother to teach our kids how to be safe and not rude" people for the $$, but i really wish they were only allowed on like, two trails and could leave everyone else in peace.

ohhh. i did it too, for like two years when i had very, very little flexible income. but i'm legit now. and i'd like to go with option c: [x] boooo i don't care if they check my pass or not, but i wish i didn't have to work so much so i could ride more.

just wanted to throw a post out there saying thanks in general to the guys who work in the shop... ...you take good care of my board ...you're totally pleasant ...you know your shit as a chick who rides, i've had some unfortunate run-ins (never at bc) with guys who are condescending and such. so i really appreciate everytime ya'll are cool, answer my questions, and honestly tell me what's up with my gear. thanks!

nothing but rain down here in killadelphia, and it's still awkwardly warm. praying for cold, this was the first weekend since it opened that i haven't gone up to bear. really, with how far technology has come and all, doesn't it seem like we should be able to do something about weather?

the first few times i went out, i had no better friends in the world than advil and hot baths afterwards. stick with it and you will get it. there's like this wall in learning where you know what you need to do and have a lot of trouble just making it happen, and then one time it just all seems to click together, from then on it's just awesome. i got ragged on for doing it, but after my first day out i started wearing kneepads under my pants until my skills really improved... cuts down on the bruising and swelling. if you fall a lot doing toe turns it might be worth it until you get the hang of it.

does anyone know offhand the other ski areas that a BC passholder can get discounts at? i can't find the info on their site anymore... thanks!

sooo any report on how conditions are today? i am planning on going up for nastar tonight, just curious. ((also, as a sidebar (really didn't think this warrants its own post but i'm curious)... is it totally lame to do nastar as a snowboarder? i don't really care, not like i'd stop doing it, i think it's fun... But i was at an Unnamed Local Shop last week as i REALLY need a new board, and the guy working there was a total asshat... he asked me how i ride, i told him and also mentioned i started doing nastar and he snorted and told me that was really lame. he then told me i should just buy the best looking board they had because it was obviously all i cared about. i did not buy anything)) anyway, how is it up there? hopefully better since they blew this morning? every time it rained the past two weeks i got so sad for bear...

anyone doing it? i figured why the hell not, what's to lose? i'm curious though, how it works for snowboarders... skiiers seem to have a distinct advantage as far as getting going quickly...

yeah i got there at 10 this morning and conditions were way better than i expected given how crappy the weather was this week... woo! thanks bear!

i split right before the rain.... although i'm a little sad i missed the fog-boarding. it was really foggy one night up at blue last season early on and it was weirdly fun.

if you've both just started boarding, it's more likely something he's unconsciously doing. a lot of newer riders lean back over their rear binding while coming down the slope. it might be worth taking a lesson or something just to get some input from an instructor. when i was learning a few years ago, i had the worst time doing toe turns and couldn't progress for the life of me.... finally just took a private lesson and found out that i had the tendency to hunch over forward all the time. when you know what you're doing wrong it's easy to correct it with lots of practice on an easy slope. but if bindings are popping off, definitely get that checked in the shop.

oooh. i've already done the family park on my own, and did ok on the boxes last year. so is the class maybe not so good for me or should i schedule a private session? i really want to learn how to handle big jumps and the pipe. but don't want to go in blind.

does anyone here know when they're starting up the tuesday night park classes at bear? has anyone taken them? this is the year, dammit, i'm gonna stop worrying about breaking my face and hit the park. but i want to make sure i don't hurt anyone else in the process.

woooo!!!!! well done guys! DAMN i should have had more faith in this winter! i planned up my friday and saturday and can't get up til sunday... but that's still at least a week earlier than i'd thought i was getting out this year! YEAH!

love it. great idea... i've been wanting to learn how to ride in the terrain park for a while but was really reluctant because i don't know how to do anything and know how annoying it is when clueless people are cruising about aimlessly... this is a really good idea and i'm glad it's there. thanks!
