Ski Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 I think the only change is that teams aren't required to have a female And snowboarders are now allowed. Here's the flyer: 1. Teams will consist of a minimum of 5 members and / or up to 8 members. Teams may consist of as many male or female participants as desired up to the 8 maximum per team. 2. The team score will be the total of the top 5 racer Quote

Ski Posted December 8, 2007 Author Report Posted December 8, 2007 Ski, When are we(Racewax, com Team) all meeting up? Female not required and SB are allowed now?? Well, I've had the team vests ready to hand out, but I never run into anyone...I thought the cocktail party was going to be a party....we do have to get together to sign the roster form. I'll try to find Art tomorrow or Sunday (he's an instructor and part of the team we're merging with) and get an idea of when his four people are usually available. Just FYI: our roster is filled and unchanged from what we had at the end of last season, as far as I know. Mike and I are definite, and Metzy and you, as well. It's the non-PASR's who who disappear all summer. I just don't understand people who don't want to talk about skiing in July. Regarding females, I never saw the rules last year, so maybe it's just a rule written somewhere else. But they are so official sounding in the release I can't imagine it isn't a rule change. I don't really get the rule to begin with. You must have a female take a race run each night, but her time doesn't need to be fast enough to score (top 5). If she doesn't show, the team forfeits. So the rule is just to get more female participation? I could see having to have a scoring female, but just a female body that shows up is odd... Having snowboarders allowed is probably just someone's idea to get more people in the league. Personally, I'm used to racing with snowboarders because of all the NASTAR we do. But it would be sacreligious to have them at a USSA Alpine or even ASRA race. I'll letcha know when I found out... Quote

I didn't race last year.. but before that I do remember that the fast girls/women were so in demand they were being recruited like blue chips. The "Females Not Required" rule makes sense. Hopefully I can do the league this year. Always a lot of fun. Quote

We're lucky to have the female we do just because she's fun to have on the team, plus she's fast. Hope you can make it back, Brian! BTW, the course was an extra gate or two longer than in prior years because there's a new finish house installed below the old building. Quote
