method9455 Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Saw on jfbb.com they have taken down Love park so they can rebuild it. Sounds good, it was pretty sparse, but with the temperature this week they should get some serious snow made on it. Any word on whats going up? Quote

dw2430 Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 keep the name merry widow and drop this love park bullshit... its really degrading to the real love park/jfk plaza by calling this snow shit by the same name when it couldnt even hold the real love parks dick when it comes to ledges and everything that ian guy has to get off of his thumb and do some damn work on that park Quote

method9455 Posted January 3, 2008 Author Report Posted January 3, 2008 I don't even understand how they get off calling that last thing a ledge. Its just a double barrel flat rail I don't care what its made out of and what its painted to look like. Quote

rgrwilco Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 the concept of a love park for skiing and riding is great-the execution however is horrible. when this was announced, i had all these crazy images in my head of what it would turn out like.(realistic ones). streetlight style lights, marble benches without kickers(ollie on instead of gap on), and a bonkable love sign, hubba ledges. a park like that could be a showcase park. Everyone just needs to be patient. Do you really think it's possible to build 5 badass parks right out of the gate? Freedom and The Plaza have been rebuilt several times. Boulder Park is nice and will only get better. LOVE Park (get over it, it's not called Merry Widow anymore) started with a killer early season setup...now it gets its turn for some extra attention. Justin Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 They ripped LOVE park from Loveland. Anyway I'm not such a big fan of the trail it's on. I was perfectly happy with Boulder and Freedom. They just need to set more stuff up in there. All they have is a rail, 2 shitty jumps, and that pointless concrete ledge. Quote
Shadows Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 They ripped LOVE park from Loveland. where do you think they got it from? theyre logo is even the same Quote
CanisLupus Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Yeah I agree good idea, poor execution. In their defense though I've always liked the jumps on that trail well at least the first one. The landings are just shit because they never get sun and are thus solid ice. Quote
Papasteeze Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 hahahaha so funny to hear this, correct me if I am wrong but isn't Love Park better than Bear or Blue combined? Does Blue have a jump yet? lots of hate for the word love.. funny! Quote

Does Blue have a jump yet? lots of hate for the word love.. funny! In jumps it was, rails it was debatable. I'm not hating on it at all the two jumps where fun with big landings I'm just looking forward to having it really built up we all know that was just filler while they waited for a cold snap. I'm all for that, but last year it was great so I'm excited to see it again. Especially since boulder park is a bit too big for me except for the first jump and the plaza, but freedom is a little too small. Love park is the sweet spot for a guy riding like me. Quote

Does Blue have a jump yet? lots of hate for the word love.. funny! no. i'd take bear over love by a small margin, blue over love by a large margin. the jumps on love sucked, and i'm not a fan of that concrete/metal piece of crap at the bottom either, and the down rail in the middle is way short. not really worth it to ski a run for one feature if you as me. bear or blue both have 5+ features in a row in their parks, on trails half the length of love. blue now has sidewinder open (partially), come around being rebuilt today, and most likely lower park set up by the weekend too. edit: blue has two jumps, one on come around thats comparable to what's on freedom, and one on sidewinder that i havent hit yet, but the landing looks nice and steep. size is about 25ish. Justo8484 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 (this is the part where papasteeze gets all defensive) dont get me wrong, big boulder and freedom parks blow blue away as of last i rode either (saturday at boulder, sunday at blue). i'd be willing to be boulder's got some of the best jumps on the east right now, and the dfd rail in the plaza is straight butter, but love, widow, whatever the hell you wanna call it, sucked. get that 40 foot single barrel in the plaza so it gets used and abused like it should be. True they should take the picnic table out of the plaza and put it at the bottom of freedom, and put in the long down rail in the plaza. it would fit better, the picnic table would get very used by the kids in freedom. rideordie7 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 I'll give some love to love park. Me and my boy rode it a ton last friday. We did about 10 runs down it and hit everything but the ledge. IMO -didn't like the straight setup. My boy was spinnin 3's off the first jump and we were both skyin the 2nd. Good size jumps for our level of ridin. Freedom's jumps are way small and the first jump on Boulder is sweet. I hear ya that love gets a little icy cause of no sun. We enjoyed it that day, but I do think some stuff needs to be added. Can't wait to see the new setup, but it might have to wait til next week. Ridin Frost tomorrow. Quote
Justin Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 (edited) The first jump on love isn't bad. The second is terrible though. Neither of those landings are steep enough. You either speed check and case the knuckle or overshoot the landing by a lot. The lips aren't very poppy either. You need to like pop out and then spin, I tend to go corked off the lip. I would up trying to pull a 3 and cased the first jump. Edited January 4, 2008 by Justin Quote
TT C6 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 I liked LOVE when it was up. I thought the jumps were great. I hope they rebuild it with similar sized jumps, I just hope that they at least 1 or 2 more. I'm horrible at judging size. How big do you guys think those 2 jumps were before they tore it down? I know they were big enough to keep the gapers off, but not too big to clear if you kept your speed up. Although, I landed on the 2nd jump's knuckle at least once. As far as not having enough "pop", I thought the take-offs were perfect and I hope they don't add any pop at all. I don't like Freedom. The jumps were too small and I don't hit boxes or rails. For me, that's what the REAL Love Park is for. Quote

TT C6 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 (edited) your post looks like some sort of strange haiku. Sorry man. I have a habit of posting like that because I think it easier to read compared to posts that are typed all the way across the screen, without any spaces, like this one here. I hope it didn't piss you off that much and no one else minds. I'm not much of a poet. However, I've been caught spitting Cypress Hill or Jay-Z when I'm boarding or riding my motorcycle. Does than count? i'd guess the first jump was 10-15 and the second was 15-20, maybe 25 tops; not really that big at all. the landings have been frighteningly icy every time i've rode that trail this year. Those measurements seems about right to me. I didn't get stuck with any ice on the landings when I was there, so I guess I lucked out. Like I said, I loved LOVE before and I hope they rebuild it with more of the same jumps that they had. Edited January 4, 2008 by TT C6 Quote

The first jump on Boulder is 25 in my book and its definately a bit bigger. I dunno, I liked them both I must have caught it on a good day, I just didn't like only getting 4 hits on a run when the lift is that slow. What do you guys think about moving that picnic table from the plaza to freedom and the down rail from love to the plaza? I could see that being a good improvement if they went for it. Quote
jhartley Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 Anybody ride LOVE today? I'm headed up tomorrow and I'm curious what the rebuild has brought us. Quote
