Ski Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Props to Skimom who continues to creep up on the elite class females of the ASRA race circuit...Tanglwood isn't much of a destination resort, but it kicks ass when it comes to turning over their best slope to us as a playground with gates. AtomicSkier Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 In retrospect, the snow was pretty firm at Blue, I wish I would have come... Next weekend, at Tanglwood, it says TBA for both days..will one day be GS and the other SL? Quote
skidude Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I think it will be a GS on sat, and a GS or SL on sunday, thats the way mum made it sound. Jeff if you are going on saturday....Maybe I will go too Quote

And, Ski999, you were looking pretty slick yourself (minus the starting gate). My guess is it will be GS Sat and SL Sunday. That's just how they usually run them... I have no official knowledge. Sometimes it's two GS days. Atomic should go the SL day, if they have one, don't you think? He likes to run things over... Edited January 2, 2005 by skimom Quote
Ski Posted January 2, 2005 Author Report Posted January 2, 2005 The guy in front of me in run 2 broke the starting wand and then DQ'd by going around the wrong side of the first gate. How the Hell do you miss the first gate? It's 15 feet in front of you... I just lost my pole plant then lost it again...then lost my other...lucky for me that it's all on tape so I can relive it over and over. So 'Dude, I tested out the flouro with another guy. It was humid, with man-made snow and relatively warm temps, which would be ideal for PTFE. My first run mistake made it hard to tell for sure, but he swore he took off 1/2 sec. because of it. It seemed faster, but I need to do it again. I used Swix LF8 as a base for the flouro overlay. I corked it in and horsehair brushed it out for run 2 only. Quote

Haha, I'm good friends with her brother, and I saw her and her mom in the lodge, so I stopped to talk. Dam little girls... Skidude, I was going to go today, and Ski999 said it was a 50/50 chance you'd be there. I wasn't going to annouce I was going to do it because I just wanted to show up, race, and not draw any attention from skimom, who I'm sure would rub it in when she beat me. I was only going to reveal myself if I magically beat her But as a racing n00b, GS would definatly be my first event. There were 2 pairs of 176cm GS:11 sitting on the "free demo racks" outside the lodge at blue....tempting me Quote
Ski Posted January 3, 2005 Author Report Posted January 3, 2005 The Tanglwood GS really is a good race to break in. I always forget how easy of a course set it is...the headwall is short and there are no bad offset gates. It's really close to how you'd ski it without gates. And the hill's race director, Bob, always sets a similar course because the terrain dictates a certain set because of the rollers and long flats. I'm not sure why they are waiting to announce which is GS and which is SL, but it might be in part because of the sketchy forecast. Maybe a SL on the warmer of the two days? Less worry about rutting out... Quote

AtomicSkier Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 ~~Wise freakin' ass~~ You wish I has holes in my suit if i had to see that. You certaintly won't be seeing me in speed suit. Quote

It's 15 feet in front of you... In medical terms, he had a brain fart. If it were a female, the technical term would be having a "blonde day" I just lost my pole plant then lost it again...then lost my other...lucky for me that it's all on tape so I can relive it over and over. I thought it was a classic. Glad the Mrs. got it on tape. Quote
