sexkitten Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 We got to BC at 8:15 AM and right away noticed that the parking lot was packed and quite crazy. To BC's credit though there were a ton of lot attendants directing people which really did help. Anyway we booted up, got our lift tickets (4 hour of course) and hit the mountain via the main quad. We were very surprised how few people were out given how many people were in the parking lot but we weren't complaining. Once at the top we noticed that Cascade was still closed but since we don't really ski the park it was fine by us. The snow was really, really, great in the morning and stayed phenomenal throughout the day. BC really does groom well when they have the snow to push around. Speaking of snow to push around... the piles everyone was talking about in other posts were there but pretty damn small. I think the warm up coming is going to really hurt BC but what can you do. Anyway, our first 5 runs were on perfect, untouched corduroy which was nice and although the snow softened up a bit as the day progressed it not mushy and pretty damn good. There was also no ice to speak of (that I could see) nor were there muddy or bare spots. Pretty much all of the trails had full coverage though some were a little less wide than they normally are. Even the infamous "uphill" and flat sections of some of the connecting trails were better this year which was nice. Also, the big drops at the lift lines (from last year) were gone. Yay BC for listening!! We were a little bummed to find that Timberline was closed (the whole time we were there) for a race, but it didn't ruin our day. Our favorite run was Grizzly down to the quad that used to be the "F" chair. My only complaint is that by like 11 we were kinda bored but BC can't do about that. We ended up doing our final run and bolting around 11:15 AM. When we left the lift lines still were tiny, which was pretty much they way they were all day but they were parking people in the outer dirt lots. Where all those people were I'll never know but it didn't seem like they were on the mountain so whatever. Overall it was the perfect way to start the season and I'm really glad we went. Quote
phillycore Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 Glad to see you finally made it out to the slopes... Nice TR... I also hate it when they close a trail for an private use for hours on end... Quote
sexkitten Posted January 7, 2008 Author Report Posted January 7, 2008 Is the date for the report correct??? I thought you were at BC on Saturday the 5th? Of course Douglas you are correct as usual. See... if you were a mod you could just fix that for me. Quote
