toast21602 Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 (edited) So here is a report since we got here in good ole' Jackson Hole. Sunday we finally got here. My flight came in a little later than it should have and when we landed it was the scariest time of my life. Going 50mph+ on a snow covered runway and eventually spinning almost 180 degrees before we stopped. So that was my adventure. Dan's adventure started with a cancelled flight from SLC so he and a bunch of other guys had to drive up here. Day 1: about 3 or 4 inches fell Sunday night into early Monday morning. That topped off all the snow that fell previously. We spent most of the day checking things out and searching for some untracked snow. We definitely found some. Ran into papasteeze and the nipler too. We also found a few nice cliff drops ranging from 5-15ft. they were so nice and now we are addicted to them. It was a pretty sunny day and temps didn't go over 15-20 so the snow was still nice. After the mountain we took the bus into Jackson to find some food to eat and stop at Albertson's. we are at a place called Billy's Burgers and it was soooooo good. We came back here to watch the BCS game and passed out around 8:30. haha. Day 2: cloudy and cold for most of the morning. Around 10 it started to snow and we headed into to lunch and add an other layer of clothes. Our run back to the place we found the best snow on the mountain that was almost completely untouched. I'd tell you where it was but that's our little secret now. After we went back out we hit up some areas above that and found some nice rocks/cliffs to drop. Took a few snapshots for you to all enjoy once we get back or maybe before then. By the time we were ready to come in we tallied up about 6 inches of snow and it made everything so much nicer than before. We took the same run back to our place that we did before lunch and enjoyed the knee-deep powder and then headed to the Mangy Moose for some good food. So how is the weather back there in PA? I'm sure its nice for goggle tans with all that sun and heat. Ps- we are supposed to get 12-15 inches of snow tonight Edited January 9, 2008 by toast21602 Quote

ColoradoHigh Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 How do I ride Jackson Hole? Easy, I go down. I was really good at Jackson Hole. It was so fun but when I was there we had no snow. But then again we went during the last week of of operation. You are lucky to get so much snow. Quote
snorovr Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I'm so bitter at you guys. I even raced last night.... Quote
mbike-ski Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 effin awsome report/pix and snow... Quote
Papasteeze Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 nips and I leave today. best days were monday and tuesday when the crowds were down to nothing, had no trouble finding fresh. This apparently is as good as it ever gets here. So we got lucky. Quote
AtomicSkier Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 another 14" last night for toast and dan-..... Quote
Papasteeze Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 easily 3 feet on the mountain, about a foot in the valley, since last saturday. The airlines are having a difficult time getting in here... Quote
snorovr Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 easily 3 feet on the mountain I shoulda given John my wider skis for the week... Quote
RidgeRacer Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 That first picture is incredible...thanks. Quote
Papasteeze Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 yeah we got lucky.. I really wish I had wider skis - of course if I had bought a set, it wouldn't have snow like this. It's funny to see how trashed everyones bases and edges are here. Quote
Papasteeze Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Papasteeze...it's not as good as it gets in Jackson Hole...it keeps getting better...and another 4-6 inches is expected in the next 24 hours. 89 inch upper mountain base depth has me drooling. 10 more days... This came from the locals. yesterday off of apres vous were 2 foot untracked freshies all day long. Saturday and Sunday were a cluster f&^% . Skiing chopped up powder for 4 days is annoying. I can't ski strong and fast enough to skip over the tops. wider skis would have really helped. BUt yeah... I am really glad we got lucky or my overall opinion would not be that positive comparitively to other destination resorts. Quote
