Ski Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 I'd love an answer if someone would like to take the time to answer my question:) Front flips and back flips. Didn't you have a pool growing up? Quote
Melissa Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Front flips and back flips. Didn't you have a pool growing up? Yes, I have experience with both gymnastics and diving. In diving, going forward (forward momentum) but flipping backward is called a reverse... To be considered a back flip, both momentum and flip is backward. Just curious, that's all. See http://www.usadiver.com/diving_articles/spect_guide.htm Thanks for the answer! Quote
Ski Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 I was just suggesting it was a simple answer. As kids, when you jumped backwards, you didn't use a word like 'reverse'...and it just carried into skiing. Quote
Papasteeze Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 I'd love an answer if someone would like to take the time to answer my question:) Backflips and Frontflips Pretty self explanatory. See http://www.usadiver.com/diving_articles/spect_guide.htm Thanks for the answer! Melissa, your right. It would be considered a gainer, but because were skiing, and their is no forward momentum applied from our bodies, its simply a backflip, almost like a back tuck... When diving, you cannot dive straight up and down... >.< you would hit the board... So you have to have some forward momentum driven from your body. Which is why they are called gainers.... You can also see these on flat land too, just not to much because of there difficulty. Hope i helped? lol, I'm pretty big in the summer with diving... Idk why, Its more enjoyable than just swimming, I finally landed a gainer dive this year, took like, 2 years... lmao Quote
