Just headed over for a half dozen quick runs...Cannonball is a little crusty in spots and the guns on Smoke make the runout kind of crazy---like skiing through a car wash. Painful pellets and I almost went into the nets. But WL and Boomer are just amazing piles of swirling powder. Manmade snow just doesn't get any better. In fact, what's being produced on those two slopes is better quality than most natural snow in this area. And what a drag that I didn't have my camera, since the guns just below the Phoebe that arc over the entrance to WL/Boomer/Smoke were creating a perfect rainbow.

The east side runs are getting close to opening. They've been pounding them non-stop for days. The lot was pretty empty and there were no buses, so it's a little surprising they are working so hard to open new terrain. Switch is ready for the first league race of the season, Thursday. It was cold, but the wind had died down, so it's not uncomfortably cold---just an extra layer.

A guy I rode the lift with commented that they are blowing enough snow on Boomer to keep it open until May. Cool by me...

I counted all of my layers today, including jacket, and I turned out to be an 8 layer player :tinfoil: . Needless to say, I ended up opening vents on my jacket and helmet, but I was toasty. Six degrees never felt so warm.

Big, are you gonna share a lift ride with me this year? I'm starting to think you're a little stuck up...

I have to agree with ski that the man-made snow on WL and Boomer is fantastic. Saturday (1/19) was IMO the best day of the season. I had the chance to take one of the first runs on WL and the snow was just plain silky! Later in the day the bumps on boomer were powdery and as nice as anything I've ever skied. I just hope they occasionally let boomer bump up b/c the pitch is perfect for bump skiing.

Glad to hear they are still hitting the East side hard b/c looking forward to skiing the new trails & maybe trying out the long haul lift.

How soon till the mountain is 100%..I'm thinking we should do a Sno PASR day in February or March..

It could be tomorrow, but they seem to want to squeeze every last second of snowmaking time out of this cold snap.
