I went to Buckman's today to look at helmets. I don't have a lot of money and I'm not looking for an audio helmet, so I was looking for something that was a quality product but reasonable. The guy said I should look at the Giro G9, and I was surprised to see that it was $100. Looking online at other helmets I saw some for as low as $60. Would somebody please tell me what is the difference between a $60 helmet and a $100 helmet?

I may just get the Giro G9, it seemed like a good product for $100. I would just rather not spend $100 at this time (next year maybe). Does anybody have any objections to this helmet specifically?

I've got a Gyro Fuse. The difference between the helmets is only known when you put it to the test. Design, material, vents, padding are the main dif. Gyro is a good make.

I have the G9. Good helmet. Has saved my bean several times.

Like was already said, the differences are going to be in features, not really protection. If you the helmet you found online is made by a legitimate manufacturer ie burton, RED, Boeri, it should be fine. You just really want to make sure it fits properly.

Ski/snowboard helmets are required to pass a minimum safety requirement test. All Giro's do. So then you can move on to features, like vents and padding and whether it's full or partial. Get a great fit in a shop, then pay half price online. :o
