jkunstek Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 So I wanted to go out to Bear tonight but I have never been out to Bear during bad weather. I really want to go because the mountain is going to bo so good to ride on. How does the area take care of the roads during abd weather, I know where I live back roads get ingnored. I take exit 45 off 78 and come that way, it's all back windy roads. Quote
Bobert540 Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 You should be able to make it but I will caution you that the hills leading to bear creek sometimes close because people get stuck. I recommend 4wd/awd or you should have good tires. Drive Safe! Quote
icedout Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 to be honest conditions won't be that great. it will be slow from the natural snow we are getting. So if you make it up, make sure you got a fresh wax on your board/skis Quote
moe ghoul Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Live webcam sure doesn't suggest any heavy snow there. Anybody nearby that can give firsthand info on current accumulation, if any, and is it still snowing? We got a dusting in Philly, and a few flakes are still falling. Quote
jkunstek Posted February 12, 2008 Author Report Posted February 12, 2008 I probably won't go, but yes, I have AWD and I got new tires on in October and I just waxed my board a week ago. I guess I will have to settle and just go tomorrow. Quote
snowboarddude Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 that is a mistake it is going to rain really heavy tomorow Quote
moe ghoul Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 that is a mistake it is going to rain really heavy tomorow Sure sounds like it. That's why I didn't get too excited about Wed. And I don't feel like driving 4-6 hours to ski for 5 hours. I just wanna do some runs before headin to Whiteface next week. Only other day I have open til then is Sunday. Quote
sexkitten Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 My rents live 3-5 minutes from BC and as of 2 or 3 PM the roads weren't great. That township barely plows or salts but most of the residents don't seem to care since almost everyone has 4WD/ AWD. I think another poster said they sometimes close the road BC is on to minimize accidents... this is very true unfortunately. My Mom who is working 2nd shift this week to cover vacations actually called me earlier to say that her drive down the mountain wasn't good and that she was wondering if she could maybe crash here tonight so there you go. I guess if you must go be careful and take your time. Oh, and look out for my Mommy... I need her and would prefer she not die on her birthday. P.S. Happy B-Day Mommy! Quote
snowboarddude Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 tell ur mom i said happy b day hahaha yeah the roads were really bad about a hour ago Quote
moe ghoul Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 I'll sweat the details in the AM. I'm up early anyway. If it looks like crap, I'll grab the laptop and go back to bed and work........... Quote
