TT C6 Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Don't worry...Boulder Park will be open as long as people keep coming. When it does close, keep in mind that it closed because nobody was spending any money there anymore. So when you throw your grill up in the parking lot don't complain when the park closes. There is enough snow in each of the three jumps to keep that park open as long as desired. The Plaza right now is the sickest park in the east. There are 8 awesome hits there that are setup better than anything else around. Everywhere else I went this season didn't have that many quality hits in a long run much less in a small area such as The Plaza. I agree. The majority of people won't hit the jumps on Boulder park, so I think BB will see more traffic by keeping Love and Freedom open. But, the hard core will travel to hit Boulder park because there is nothing like it elsewhere. Personally, I hope BB keeps Love and/or Freedom open for as long as possible. Maybe if the jumps shrink on Boulder (or my balls get bigger ) I'll be riding Boulder Park regularly as well. Quote
Papasteeze Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 You do make a good point - however - my .02: I would think that JF would want to engage a long term strategy to both attract future season pass holders, and remain competitive in a difficult, at best - "flat" market. Blowing snow on closing day is just an illustrative example of a long term "perception" issue. Cleaning up the woods so you can ride/ski them without wrecking your equipment is a good thing. Ditto with appealling to a younger market, aggressive group sales etc. JFBB doesn't have big vertical, so it's the "extras" that would seperate JFBB from Sno, Blue, Elk, and others. Thanks, lets see....... for the most part, aren't the passes cheaper at JFBB for more terrain and a longer season with excellent conditions, parks and woods, than anywhere else in our area? Those are the facts. Quote

That will make me happy . Quote

Ski Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 I detect sarcasm in this here thread... No, no, no, we're just very happy where some people decide to ski. Quote
nick Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 I didnt feel like making a new thread for it but Boulder needs to freakin change up their parks...they have no variety in them anymore. Where did all the bonks and creative stuff go??? I mean dont get me wrong everything is built very nice and the jumps on boulder park are still probably the best on the east coast but come onnn already. Love park hasnt changed all year and i think freedom has changed maybe 2 times. I rode boulder today and i was so bored hitting the same things over and over again that i ACTUALLY missed bear creek. I love boulder just as much as the next person but i think its time for a late season rebuild. Bring back some of the things like the tire jib and some of the other more creative things that they have had this year and last.... Quote

bigdaddyk Posted March 16, 2008 Author Report Posted March 16, 2008 Mother nature helped out today by blowing 1" of fresh snow. Slow first thing, but really nice as the morning went on . Quote
method9455 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Freedom has been changed about 5 times this year, but Love only twice, I was a bit disappointed by Love this year. Quote

method9455 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 What happens from here is gravy for me, I got my first day of use on my pass mid-november, they had a great park from then on. I spent more time in a PA glade on a given day than I had in all the previous seasons combined. I never saw a bad day of conditions (at opening, by mid day is a different story). I always found something good to hit in the park when I went up, I never saw ice this year, if they didn't blow a snowflake between now and the end of the year I would be back next year regardless. The thing that will close them is not lack of snow, it is lack of customers. And you want to talk about surface? A did Blue, Camelback, and JFBB in a 3 day stretch a few times this year always JFBB had the best surface, I would be very surprised if even with blowing snow Blue or Camelback will have a better surface to ski on. We'll see how long Boulder stays open, I'm hoping it stays open till my spring break so I can ride then, thats about 3 more weeks, I think they can make it but we'll see. Quote
