I am getting so excited for our trip next weekend. We are thinking about breaking up the drive and leaving 3/13 in the evening and stopping in NY. Belleayre has a special 3/14 for $15 lift tickets. This would also make the boys tired and less likely to fight the last stretch of the trip. We have slopeside lodging at Bromley. Although the girl warned me the place is very dated, but clean. We plan to hook up with my family who has a house at Stratton.

I have a decent amount of lift ticket deals. I have a free ticket to Stratton that I won in that email contest, My 4th grade NY passport book has a free coupon to any VT mountain, Bromley has $29 tix after 12:30 on Sun and Mon for St. Patrick's Day if you wear green you get $17 tickets. So if it all works out we can visit 3 mountains in 4 days for $279(for 3 of us). Not bad. I plan on bringing a camera and my laptop. The main building has wireless internet so hopefully I can post some pics and TR (if anyone cares).

Does your husband stay at home and take care of the alley, or does he not ski?

unfortunately he doesn't ski. The lanes I leave in "semi" competent hands.

If you ever need a substitute husband, let me know. On second thought, I'd probably be more like having a 3rd son. :D

ok, I literally just started to blush, my face feels hot right now. Other than the non skiing, my hubby is the man.

If you ever come to the shore, stop in.

Interesting that a non skier would want a house in the Poconos.

I wanted the house so I bought it. When we got it skiing was not the first thing on my mind. I just had nice childhood memories of my parents taking me to the Poconos.

I hope you at least mentioned it to him first. I couldn't imagine my wife coming home and telling me she just bought a house.

I have my own money from my night job as a female escort, but this is a ski forum, so enough about all that.

Bromely looked really cool actually both from the road and from the infomercial that played at Okemo. If your lodging is the place I think it is then yes, it is very dated but not horrific. FYI, it only took us 6 hors door to door when we went to Okemo which is about 45 minutes past Bromley. I guess I should say that we we only really make 2 or 3 short stops for eating, peeing, gas, etc though. I don't know if that will work with kids. Can't wait for the TRs!!

I stayed at Bromley last year midweek at their slope side hotel. The place is real nice , not too big but a lot of different terrain. The place is real cheap midweek but the hotel is a little run down. You will definitely have a good time there.

just finished loading up the car. Our gear is at the shop getting a tune up and I'll pick that up on my way out of town. Leaving after work tomorrow. We are skipping Belleayre since it was going to add about 2 hours to the total drive time once I thought about it. We are paying a visit to my father in law instead. He is conveniently located in NY so its halfway. Then a quick stop at Rockland bakery for some fresh NY bagels and off to Vermont. I am so bad with taking pictures but I am going to try and take a lot.

I talked to my cousin today and she said temps have been cold and there was some snow today. Stratton and Bromley are both 100% open and (according to the websites) have good coverage and base.

well this is going to be quick because the kids and I are in the fitness center where the internet is and they are dying to leave.

We woke up to 4" of fresh snow. First I was excited but then realized it was very heavy and hard to push through. We spend the whole day there and had a nice time. They had a Burton demo going on and there were things to do for the kids which was nice. The upper mountain was covered in fog and very hard to see. We only took one run from there. The kids got park passes and did the park for a while. They had a small rainbow box that David kept hitting and was extremely proud of himself. My picture taking skills are awful so my attempts at action shots failed miserably. I kept getting him out of the frame or an arm or leg, pitiful.

Today we did Bromley. I have to say I really like Bromley. It is a very laid back place. Very nice for families. Just David and I went and Stephen and my hubby went snowmobiling. We walked through the woods and were able to go down the terrain park from our condo which was great. Then got our tickets and did the upper mountain all day. I have to say I am not in as good of shape as I thought because my legs are like jello today. The trails are so much longer than Big Boulder. The path we were doing all day was 2.5 miles. So that's prob equivalent to 4-5 BB runs. After a while I was letting David go up alone because my legs were done.

I think we will do Bromley again tomorrow just because its so convenient. The US open at Stratton practice starts tomorrow but none of the big names will be there until at least Wed (from what I am told). Ok here are a few pics, I don't have time to put them into photo bucket.

You are in better shape than you think. Fresh heavy snow is extremely tiring to ski in. Plus longer vert and your muscles are screaming by the end of the trail.

I remember once skiing in VT in heavy snow and feeling very discouraged until two teenagers stopped behind me and one complained to the other how tiring it was getting down the mountain.

Made me feel much better.
