skifreak Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I use a ski tote the guy would need bolt cutters to cut my lock off! Quote
LineSki Posted January 23, 2005 Author Report Posted January 23, 2005 i use my bike lock its real thick. i have a set of mechanical bolt colters that are the size of wire cutters and could cut just about any lock with wire in it. Quote

Sno Mountain Skier Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 i always have my skis in my sight when im in the lodge. i make sure there always agaist a window or something. i always am sitting there and hoping for someone to take them because it is a good excuse to knock the $hitout of somebody. then take my skis and run there asses over. Glenn Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Well even some bike locks are breakable. There was a massive recall on the U shaped bike locks this summer because the lock could be picked with a ball point pen. Just research a little on locks, and get a decent one. They aren't expensive, just find one that will do its job. Quote
skifreak Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Yeah I remember those U shaped locks that must have been great if someone stole your stuff. Quote
insomniac Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I have a lock but I never use it. Derrick always locks my stuff up with his. Good deal. Quote
skifreak Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Locking my stuff is a pain in the a$$ because my skis are so think and then my bindings have a plate connecting the heel and toe pieces and it looks like im raping my skitote when I lock my stuff lol. Quote
AtomicSkier Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Anyone that has atomic bindings knowns how annoying it is to lock your skis, as there is no real way to put the lock thru the bindings, unless you fit it underneath the metal band, but the new Neox bindings have a more conventional design, which will allow for easier locking. as for me, i use blue's complimentary ski check Quote
skifreak Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I don't know that ski check looks like a pain on the weekend there is often a line there. Quote
AtomicSkier Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I don't know that ski check looks like a pain on the weekend there is often a line there. eh, it eliminates the chance of the lock getting cut, and of losing your skis at all. I've never had a line, i just wish more mountains would do it. Quote
skidude Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I carry 2 pairs of skis out of CB all the time...But I usually go the backway in and out (next to the ski patrol room), and if I did get stopped, it wouldn't even be a problem, cause I have the boot that fits both the bindings of the skis...And if it got really bad I could just get Gus to say they were my skis. Anyway I guess boards could be harder to tell, since any boot can go with any board. Quote
tretiak Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 (edited) i almost had my board stolen last year luckly i was walking out when the kid was trying to cut my lock .so i walked over to him and tapped him on the shoulder and asked him what he was doin.of course he said he was trying to get his board and i said well that looks like my board and the kid juss walked away Edited January 24, 2005 by forumdestroyer154 Quote

Not even turn him into security . Quote
skifreak Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Just do what I used to do in elementary school at recess, carry around a pair of handcuffs I used to cuff the kids to the basketball poles and they were too dumb that you didn't need a key to get em off. But when you see a fool trying to take your stuff lock him to the rack but make sure you use real cuffs lol and then but a note on his face saying he tried to steal your stuff. Quote
zaldon Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 having your lock cut is not the only thing you need to worry about with people like me. i can unlock most combo locks in less than 5 min. but im not a thef so dont worry about me taking your stuff. Quote
skidude Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 zaldon, I will have to see if you can actully do that. I have a kyrptonite lock, and I will bring it on the lift with me sometime...See if you can get it in the 3-4 minute ride...Theres only uhhh like 9999 combinations Quote
pyro_boarder Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 With a 3 number lock there's only 1000 combos, so thats 3-4 trys per second to do it in 5 minutes. I've done it before and if you parcteced it is possible. With a four number lock there would be 10,000 combos so there's a little added security in that. Quote
tretiak Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 i was goin to kill him but its was a day when no1 was out andi wanted to get in as many runs as possible. Quote
LineSki Posted January 25, 2005 Author Report Posted January 25, 2005 so my friend now got his board back. i guess the cop changed his mind or something. he just said that he needs to bring it to court when he has to go for the kids. Quote
sibhusky Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 I am probably the only skier in the whole state locking my skis out here. But, after years of skiing back East, I know that it only takes a minute to have piece of mind. Quote
skidude Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Haha, up at magic mountain, some of our team locked there stuff...Only locks at the whole area. I guess I just figured that the mountain was so hard to find, no one is going to go there and rip of skis....But I guess if its habit, then its just what you do... Quote
zaldon Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 i have a kyrptonite lock my self, and a gave it to a freind who changed the combo and it only took me about 3 min to unlock. if you know how it is pretty simple. Quote

The only you'll ever see people up there is at Clark's grocery store, in Lundandary (home of ross powers, btw) but on rt 11, once you get past clark's, you are REALLY out there.
