moe ghoul
Just when I thought I couldn't get a cheaper deal than 190/pp for 4 nites and 4 day ski passes, the motel clerk informs me senior citizens ski for free, knocking the total down to 145/pp......... Better bring the Lysol and roach motels, lol Edited April 2, 2008 by Moe Ghoul
moe ghoul
Wow that's a good deal..4 nights where I'm staying in Stowe is $260 plus tax and 4 days lifts is $148..and I feel like I'm getting a good deal..it looks like the Slides at Whiteface could reopen tomorrow and any mild afternoons.. yea, the money saved translates into some great dinners and mega-cocktails....and pays for the gas. Next best deal was at the Crown Plaza, fancier place and better location, buffet b-fast included. 388/pp. I'll be surprised to see the Slides open, their website doesn't indicate if its open, and the cover looks thin. I'll TR and send pics if I find a computer. I'm stoked for more skiing.
Glenn
I'm pretty sure that is less than 2 miles from the mountain. Not exactly in town, but you will get to the mountain early.

It's in LK Placid, about a 1/2 mile from where we usually stay at the Townhouse Lodge, so still a 10 minute ride to the mountain. Gives dad a chance to mosy around town if he doesn't feel like skiing each day.

Not anymore, they stop running that in March. Otherwise, it is a great service.

Dude cover up there is seriously deep higher up, I'm going to Marcy this weekend and Van Hov at 1000ft shows 40" of settled depth. http://www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/interactive/htm...amp;x=0&y=0 I heard at the top of Marcy snow is 10 feet deep. Whiteface isn't a whole lot lower so I could see it being good.

I was only referring to the slides portion of Whiteface, generally speaking, they need serious spring snow to open up, and I don't think that is the case this season. The rest of the mountain should be fine, although the forecast is getting dodgier by the minute. Gotta bring some raingear, just in case
moe ghoul
Slides 2,3,4 opened 3/27. read a few reviews on SKIadk MB. Weather forecast for next week looks wet, I'm glad I went the low budget route.

moe ghoul
It looks like some sunny days with temps in the 40s for next week...maybe you'll get some hero snow..and on this trip to Stowe..I'll end up spending more on mega cocktails and food than lodging.. It's spotty, there's a small front moving in from the lakes with moisture for Monday, some clearing mid week and a front from the pacifioc NW moving thru by week's end. Coulda been stoked if the temps were lower, but weather is subject to change and I've been Johnny on the spot for good ski weather this season.
