sibhusky Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I don't have any pictures, because I was too worried to deal with that, but Siblet had her first FIS SG today and survived. She lowered her FIS points from 990 to 208, not a fantastic day, but better than last year's USSA race. Now that she has her confidence she plans to really go for it tomorrow. She looked solid and I will try to get some pics tomorrow. I hate speed events.... Quote

skidude Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 WOOOT SiBBY JR. Give her my best, and tell her to uhh ski fast...err really fast Quote
sibhusky Posted January 24, 2005 Author Report Posted January 24, 2005 when does she do a downhill at the birds of prey? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Never I hope. She didn't do the downhill here and has no plans to add that to her repetoire. In SL and GS you usually don't die. Downhill you can die. Quote

sibhusky Posted January 24, 2005 Author Report Posted January 24, 2005 hah, well i wish her good luck! And she needs to do a downhill, just to say she did it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> She's 5'3". You know how long the minimum length ski is for a FIS downhill? 205cm's!!! Quote
AtomicSkier Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 She's 5'3". You know how long the minimum length ski is for a FIS downhill? 205cm's!!! then how comes i often see bode racing DH on his Atomic GS skis (the '05 atomics),? They seem to be barely above his eyes (probably low 180's)....Then i see other people racing on last year's all red atomic DH skis, which are well above the head. Are these USSA races, or worldcup that i see on OLN....because body defaintly isn't on 205's in most DH's Quote
Ski Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 The Atomic rep hands all DH and SG racers a pair of giant slalom length GS:11's in the finish area and on the podiums. It's marketing. They don't sell many DH/SG skis, but want to market their GS:11's. Smart, huh? Quote

Ski Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I always thought she'd love speed events. Any coaches have speed guns? Quote
sibhusky Posted January 24, 2005 Author Report Posted January 24, 2005 The course was really long (2.1 Km) and lots of people along it, so there could have been, but I wasn't looking. Quote

ole2planker Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Did she ski or did she like the town? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ski? She hasn't skied since she was 5 years old and living in Switzerland! She liked the views of the mountain, the relatively compact ski village and the town of Whitefish. Quote
