librider Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Sounds good. You guys really wanted a decent park, and after a few attempts hopfully this one works. Any pictures of the so called boxes? I'm curious to see the construction of them. Quote
toast21602 Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 i hope the park gets better there and is maintained. the parks over the last 3 years have been very disappointing. Quote
Papasteeze Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Thanks for the update Will, whats your background and experience with parks? Quote
mollyskeez Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 that actually sounds really sick. hopefully camel does that thing with the free tickets again at the end of the year. that would be baller. Quote
roundtop03 Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 i had fun in their park last year..i know it wasnt that good but it was fun to hit as many features as i did in one run..plus it was like close to the beginning of the season and got my 5's dialed in that day Quote
Shadows Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 ill give you guys props. seems like you have always known what to do as far as execution, just dont really know how to build/set up features. which is what is most important i think. Quote
poop Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 im just gonna doubt it b/c its camelback. Quote
Shadows Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 im just gonna doubt it b/c its camelback. well, the bison's are a pretty sick cat, and they have a somewhat legit list of features. so if they are dedicating a good portion of space for parks it could be sweet. which is what i was saying.. they know what to do just not really how to do it. toast21602 Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 (edited) it doesnt matter anyway... if its too sunny, windy, snowy, rainy, cloudy, perfect, they are going to close the mountain. Edited October 11, 2008 by toast21602 Quote
Shadows Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 forgot about that, havent skied there in so long haha Quote
skier89 Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 has anyone noticed on the camelback web site that they have a little thing saying #1 ski resort in pa? Quote
Tyler Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 im pretty sure they do, by number of skier visits/ season Quote
toast21602 Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 If you do this well PASR will be your biggest promoters, if you don't, well then we'll just continue to bitch about Camelback as usual. Quote
Papasteeze Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 Method, thank you for your post, you are spot on... Will, I am guessing, but I think the problem has been your groomers and how they set the transitions and gaps. You need someone experienced in that new cat. Having a new park and new features and new equipment will mean nothing unless you have a park builder who knows what to do with all that new stuff. Quote

You are more likely than I to have pictures from Camelback do you have any to post that highlight the problems? I don't think I've ever taken a picture there but it was so obviously visible to anyone looking that it might help to clarify a bit what we're saying. Quote
Shadows Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 i wouldnt blame it on just the groomers... if at all. they never really had a huge base to work with in the first place for jumps and it showed in the way they were made. if we were ants that one step up/over would've been sick as hell haha. i say you shouldnt blame it on just the groomers because each and every rail had a decent amount of snow pushed in front of it. once that gets done it comes down to the hand crew and how they shape it... which just takes time and effort. ive never met the hand crew but from what i saw the few times i was there, they seem lazy - judging by the setups. park rakes can push a good amount of snow, especially when its warm. so completely rebuilding a lip isnt all that hard. i cant see CB having a good jump line. they dont have the snow, grade, or length to do it. maybe one good sized jump but thats it. focus on rails and take it from there i say. Papasteeze Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 Yeah Dan, I could/should have elaborated a bit more. Some of the park crew said emphatically that they were not allowed to reshape, so if that it is the case, then it is the groomers responsibility? I really don't know the details, I just know that the transitions and set-ups and flows left a lot to be desired when considering the comments from experienced park riders. You are more likely than I to have pictures from Camelback do you have any to post that highlight the problems? I don't have any from last season other than a couple from Christmas day that Craig took - they don't show the features. Quote
mollyskeez Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 if they are not allowed to reshape then why do they have a park crew? Quote
poop Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 oh hey thanks for deleting my post i forgot i was in china Quote
Shadows Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 ive pretty much just come to the conclusion the majority of park crew kids are lazy as balls. Quote
poop Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 or have no idea what they are doing Quote
Shadows Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 the only way the kids that have no idea what to do are going to learn is if the lazy as balls crew who DOES know what to do teaches them. but theyre too lazy. Quote
