snomtn08 Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Hello all!!! We here at Sno just wanted to say hello and update you on a few items that we have been working on. Our snowmaking system has already been tested twice and a third test is scheduled for this afternoon. This final test will ensure that we are ready to blast ASAP. We WILL start snowmaking as soon as temps allow. We have changed some placement of some of the "super pole cats" to maximize the crazy amount of snow that they produce. Â Unfortunately, the water park did not open again this season. The construction has had many ups and downs and, as many of you who have been involved with something of this magnitude already know, surprises seem to pop up daily. With that being said, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We currently have all of the water park crews STILL working daily and we plan to open May 09!! And for those of you that are worried about the snowmaking in these areas, don't fret. The wave pool, tornado, and the Matt Racer are not in the way of our day to day operations and the lazy river and children's interactivity area will be completly covered with snow. Some skiers and riders will never even know that they are there!! Â We have had some changes in the lodge starting with the new changing areas and locker room. This area used to house the rental shop in the basement of the lodge. This will hopefully make life easier for those of you coming directly from work or school. The rental shop is being moved the front of the lodge near the main ticket windows. This will be a separte building that will also house our free ski check and tuning shop. We have added other improvements like the new staircase that will hopefully make your transition to the slopes faster than ever. Â We want to ensure everyone that, while the terrain parks and half pipes are an area of emphasis in the beginning phases of snow making, we have a plan in place that will allow us to blanket the entire mountain along with the parks. Snow making quality and quantity will NOT suffer on the rest of the mountain as a result of the parks!! Â Dirt work has been done on Loki's terrain park and the boarder cross course to hopefully help move up the opening of the parks. We have fixed some lighting problems and are in the process of adding lights to both parks. Â On November 15th we will be taking delivery of our new Pisten Bully winch cat. This machine is insane and will allow us to make sure that every trail on the North Face is in the best condition possible!! Â Finally, for those of you that have not been around, we have added the ZIP RIDER!! The zip rider will allow you to fly directly over the terrain park and the half pipe at speeds of up to 60mph!! The 3000' cable ride will be open daily and your gear will be at the bottom waiting for you when you are finished. Â We have a PA Ski and Ride day scheduled for Saturday, February 21st. We will have great discounts for members, along with giveaways, etc. We are also adding discounts for all of the PASAR members!! When we finalize all of the programs, we will post them on the board. Check out www.snomtn.com for updates. Â We hope that you guys are ready to ski and ride because we are!!! Â Have a great day and think Sno!! Quote

toast21602 Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 good, maybe this will keep the bitching and moaning down for a few weeks. Â discounts is a great idea because i probably wouldnt make the drive all the way up there to pay full price. Quote
Melissa Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Great news. As a season pass holder, I am so happy to read all of this. Quote
Schif Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Its awesome that Sno scheduled a PASR day for us. I'm glad someone took the initiative! We've been slacking in the official PASR days the past few years. Quote
rastasquid Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 super stoked! Glad my season pass will be used to the fullest extent possible! Quote
method9455 Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 I'm definitely hitting Sno more often this year. Quote
Santa Clauss Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 I am so relieved , new lights, new placement of guns, and i'm so excited about the dirt work i want to work park again regardless of my unlimited pass purchase! if this works out I may even buy my bro a pass for christmas! Quote
librider Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 I am so relieved , new lights... Â How many times did we hear that last year claus? Â haha Im putting Sno in the same catagory as CB right now. Lots of stuff planned lets just see if it works out. I sure hope it does, sno has some serious potential. Quote
Santa Clauss Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Yea Bamf, Sno does have an Excellent reputation of letting us down... But they did say that they had fixed the lights and they already did the dirt work, so I guess they cant really just flat out lie about that right? Hey Snomtn08, it would be really awesome if you posted pictures on your website to show off the dirt work, just in case there are any disbelievers... Quote
Papasteeze Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 winch groomer to build steep landings? yay.. Quote
Melissa Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 I'm bumping this thread--apparently the PASR day is Sat. Feb. 21st, which works great for me. Quote

Brian Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 check out todays times about sno, season pass sales more than doubled, employment is up, and skiier visits are way up....good to hear  Hell yeah.. real good news. Season pass sales from 400 to over 1000.  the link.... Quote
Melissa Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Good eye, I missed this in the paper this morning. Great news! Quote
Brian Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 On a side note.. I'm amazed people still read the news papers. Quote
Santa Clauss Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Thats really good to hear, I was so pumped when I read that, my god over 1000 season passes sold! thats at least between $300,000 and $500,000 just on season pass holders. Quote
trackbiker Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 While I don't doubt that their numbers are up, I would take the Snow numbers of 1000 season pass sales and 30% increase in skier visits with a grain of salt. Last year they claimed season pass sales of 700 while the actual number was 400. Based on that and nearby Elk's numbers, I would estimate their season pass numbers at 600 and increase in skier visits at 17% max. Any regulars notice 30% more people on the slopes? Quote
ski14 Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 you have to remember they've been open a lot longer this season, and I have noticed a lot more this season for example, last saturday there was a good 15 minute wait for phoebe and iron horse at times, ive also noticed a lot more buses this year Quote
Sno Mountain Skier Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 While I was only up there once this year. I did notice a lot more people there. I was skiing mid day on a week day, and the parking lot had 15 rows of cars. And while there werent any lift lines, every other chair had some one on it. Quote
riderossi Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Any regulars notice 30% more people on the slopes? yes Quote
trackbiker Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Good to hear they are doing well. The great conditions and lack of lift lines makes it a great weekend altenative to crowded slopes and lift lines at the other local ski areas. I keep recommending Sno to other skiers but very few check it out. Seems most people would rather wait in a long line for a high speed lift or they'll drive past it to go to Elk for the terrain. I still don't believe the numbers but can't blame them for exaggerating. It creates a "buzz" that will hopefully get some more people to check it out. Quote
