trackbiker Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) Skied Sno Sat. night. The parking lot was the most full I've seen it when pulling in for a weekend night session. Conditions were pretty good. Some slick spots in the center of the headwalls on the lower mountain but if you skied the sides things were pretty good. Some nice powder in spots. Some improvements in lighting but the right side of the headwall on Boomer is still completely dark. The 2 lights on Whistler are a huge improvement from skiing in the dark and Whistler had the best conditions. Lift lines were still really light. Only maybe three chairs early on if you got behind a group skiing together. After 7:30 they were mostly ski-on. The lodge is still a disaster. I think the slopes are empty because everyone is in the lodge. Still bags and junk piled all over and under the tables. They took out the wall of $3.00 lockers and lined it with video and arcade games. Now instead of a high school cafeteria I feel like I'm booting up in a bowling alley! The restaraunt area looks nice. Nice atmosphere and uncrowded. Will likely have lunch there in a few Fridays if I can talk my Jersey friends into going to Sno instead of Greek Peak before a Saturday get together at Elk. What's up with the Long Haul? When I checked the website before I left it said it was closed. Was glad to see it running and took 3 rides on it before hitting the North Face. At the ticket window they had a list of conditions and lifts. There was a "5:00" next to it. Did it open at 5:00? When I was there last year they would close it at night. All in all a good night. I'm sure CB and Blue were skied down to ice way before my 6:00pm arrival at Sno. Edited February 1, 2009 by trackbiker Quote
riderossi Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Funny i was just talking to a guy on Saturday that was having a great time up at Sno who was a season pass holder from Greek Peak. He couldn't believe the snow conditions compared to Greek. Long Haul opens at 5pm on Friday nights and is open all day on Saturday. It closes at 5pm on Sunday. Quote
Santa Clauss Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 hey sno, ever heard of anti skid? next time i'm up i'll bring some damn ice skates for the parking lot! got up around 9:30 drove around to the nf parking area, stopped because a pickup was backing out, so both back wheels were spinning and he wasn't moving more than .5mph, I was like woh this guy is cool, went to move, same prob with me, wheels spun real bad, when I was booting up I witnessed another vehicle try to back out, couldn't turn, he had to go back into the space and tried again... finally got out. saw this at least 3 more times while I was there. It'll be a miracle l if someone doesn't slip and get hurt. Conditions were great, I had the sun roof open on the way home! it would be great if they groomed lightning, It's getting dangerous, not even fun challenging, today, twice on ski's, thrice on board (Ahh I love Thrice), made it down just fine but it wasn't fun at all, just bad, un organized bumps, saw ski patrol pulling a little girl out of the woods the other night. whatever. Anyone ride lightning today and have a GOOD experience? Park is great but I wish they would put that other bonk back, it was fantastic... Quote
trackbiker Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) Long Haul opens at 5pm on Friday nights and is open all day on Saturday. It closes at 5pm on Sunday. Thanks riderossi, that clears things up for me. If Sno updated their website once in a while it would help. They must have left the conditions reports in the ticket windows since Fri. since it had the Long Haul listed as opening at 5:00. I wonder if the same ones are still there today? I just looked at their website. Long Haul is listed as "Closed". Edited February 1, 2009 by trackbiker Quote
Melissa Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Was just up for about an hour. Conditions were pretty good, but mixed: soft where the sun was shining but harder in the shade. Fair amount of people out. Ate it hard on lower runway--guess I was going too fast and managed to get ridiculous air off the second headwall, which took me by surprise and I had an epic fall. It must have been amusing, I don't think I've ever aired off that headwall (and, I don't made a habit of airing off of anything). The landing included some sort of face-plant (so hard that when I stopped I checked to make sure that I had all my teeth) and now half my face is scraped up. Awesome. Currently medicating with neosporin with the hopes that my face will be better tomorrow so I don't look like I was in a car accident. It's beautiful out, I had new stuff on my ipod, and I was seriously looking forward to skiing after being out for a week due to my cold--I'm pissed at myself for being so careless. Glad that others enjoyed the day more! Quote
