njskierbrig Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 i have been thinking about using my camera out on the mountain. What should i do to help protect it from snow, cold, or anything else that can happen out on the mountain. Quote
Glenn Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I carry my point and shoot in a goggles bag. It's provides a little additional protection against wetness and I can clean the lens with the bag. I just put it in my chest pocket on my jacket. No problems yet except for poor battery life in the cold. Quote
nick malozzi Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I just keep my point in one of the pockets up near my chest so i can get it out easily. I used to take my SLR out, but at that point it was in a Pelican air tight/shockproof case in a backpack. Quote

Glenn Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Camelback ski area. Clearly you need a local to show you the back bowls and hidden glades Quote
njskierbrig Posted November 11, 2008 Author Report Posted November 11, 2008 yea i live in NJ so i dont get to ski a lot but when i do i am out on the mountain at opening and dont come in till closing Quote
xNick11 Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Just get a nice photo/video bag for your gear. Quote
sibhusky Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I just keep mine in my fanny pack and a spare battery in an inside pocket. The camera has a protective case, so putting it in my pocket would be a bit too bulky. It's a Canon Elph. Quote
mollyskeez Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 most people i know what film just carry it around and put it inside when they are not usuing it. i know my mom puts her little digi cam just inher pocket like erryone else Quote
daver Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) That picture is AWESOME! I never saw the one of Sam either, also a cool pic. Winter is here, ready to get heady? There was enough snow the other night to bomb drop off the balcony - Edited November 12, 2008 by daver Quote
Saurus Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 When i shoot with my digital slr i will either walk up the mtn or take the lift and walk down. This way its safer so i dont drop it or get it wet or even break it. You should also get a uv lense filter that will protect your lense and help out when taking pics in the snow. But if you want to ride down with your camera make sure you have it in a camera bag and its not over your shoulder or near your stomach cause you dont want to go around body slamming it. Quote

Whatever though, as long as I'm riding everyday I don't really care that much about the details. Quote

method9455 Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 thanks for all the info Picking the right pocket helps. I have an inside pocket of my jacket that I rarely fall on so it works a lot better than keeping it in my pants. Quote
